True. Even the Joker had his humorous moments.
Especially him. His punchlines were solid gold.

I think it´s perfectly obvious the type of movie you appreciate, and perhaps that´s why your nickname is "Tony Stark".
We don´t all like the same stuff. I love movies who are darker and serious. You obviously prefer the more cheerful approach, wich i don´t particularly love. I have no patience for stuff that is so obviously made with kids primarly in mind.
The good thing is: Marvel will keep making those types of movies. You don´t have to watch BvS. And you don´t have to watch JL. And you probably shoudln´t, because that´s the direction WB is going to take their product, and you won´t be pleased by it. It´s gonna be more dark and more serious than Marvel.
Wow. Just because a movie is cheerful and funny doesn't necessarily means its for kids.
If you don't like the stuff Marvel is putting out, you have an opyyion here: Dont watch their films.
If you think its kids stuff then why in the world do you watch their films? Does that mean you're a kid too?
I remind you that even though most of their films are funny , some serious dark stuff happens in those films. is IM3, TWS, GOTG etc

Wow, that was pretty presumptuous and arrogant. FYI, I was Tony Stark when this site was still called Spider-man hype and any thought of making Iron Man was in development hell.
I like movies that have a dark tone, but not dark for the sake of being dark. TDK was excellent, and has been mentioned here numerous times, had a heart and some great humor.
Do you think Daredevil was made for kids? Because I for one always let my kids watch shows where a guy beats the ever loving crap out of a russian mobster and then drags his body over to the car and slams his head in the car door until his head is cut off. Great family entertainment!
There is a difference between dark and serious tone and being depressing. ithought BvS looked depressing. I think the new FF trailer looks depressing, two things I don't associate with Superman or with the Fantastic Four.
Given the nature of the characters and the way they´re portrayed on screen, i´m pretty sure Marvel tries to make all these movies as kid friendly and family friendly as possible.
It´s not even not liking. It´s more not being a huge fan. Sure, i can watch an Iron Man movie and be midly entertained by it. But it´s just not the same as watching a movie like The Dark Knight or V for Vendetta.
No. It means i´m open minded enough to watch it before judging it. But i´m certainly not going to be as crazy about it as a 12 yo.
None of those movies felt dark to me. But that´s just my point of view.
Spider-Man hype? That´s cute.
And what makes you think BvS is going to be dark for the sake of being dark?
I didn´t say the TV show Daredevil(wich i love) is for kids. I said Marvel makes movies for kids. Not movies that only kids can watch, but movies that are very kid friendly, as opposed to, let´s say, TDKR.
Well, it´s too early to judge. I don´t see what´s so depressive about it. Yeah, it has a serious tone and a serious permise. Yeah, it deals with less cartoonish issues. How is that any less depressing than Daredevil?
I think it looks fantastic. Go DC!
And what makes you think BvS is going to be dark for the sake of being dark?
Nope. Their characters actually act like human beings. They joke around, they laugh they cry, they have flaws. They're human after all. They're not brooding all the time. If you think that's what makes these characters "kid friendly" then I fear for you.
Do anyone who enjoys these films and get excited about them is either a 12 year old or has a mentality of one?
Yes IM3 the story about a superhero facing an existential crisis and a crippling case of post-traumatic stress disorder.
Let's not also forget how the story has uintentional victims being used as suicide bombers as members of the military Industrial complex take advantage of our western societies' anxieties of foreign terrorism while lining up their own pockets for themselves.
Yep I was totally watching a kids flick here.
And CA:TWS a film that obviously uses the themes of both The Patriot Act to monitor people and the use of drones to attack potential threats and Captain America acts as a critical voice as he starts for real America values of freedom and liberty whilst S.H.I.E.L.D. which has been a more ambiguous force saying these action are used to protect America. Even though the film was written before the Snowden leaks, it is easy see parallels between real life events of the NSA to the action of S.H.I.E.L.D. When the villain's plot is fully revealed, it shows a more complex, subtle plan raises issues about social control and manipulation and the American Industrial-Military Complex. Definitely kid friendly.
And you that humour can be used as a defense mechanism. Whilst I've never been part of the military, I've had family who are part of the military service and I can tell you this much, they crack jokes amid fighting. Its natural and diffuses tense situations. I'm sure in these boards there are veterans who will tell you the same. Those characters are human because they have flaws.
TwS was very complex. No one saw the Hydra twist coming. In fact, pre Daredevil, it was the most violent MCU film. Not every CBM needs to be like TDK.
Are they really human characters? I don´t know many humans who would crack jokes while the world is falling apart around them.
Wow, 38 pages. Glad to see my baby still growing.
Ever been on a college campus during exam week?
Agreed. A lot of people who praise The Dark Knight forget that it had a fair amount of levity in it as well. Particularly the banter between Bruce and Alfred, or everything with Lucius Fox. The same can be said about Daredevil with Foggy's character. That's a big thing Man of Steel was missing, that will likely be absent in BvS as well.
Especially with the rumored "no jokes" policy.
That said, I do like that they seem to be seriously addressing Superman's character and what he means for the world. I just hope for some sort of conclusion to this storyline, instead of it getting dropped and forgotten half-way through the film like the First Contact plot did in the first movie.
I´ve been in situations where people were dying. None of them or us were cracking jokes. The college campus thing isn´t really a good comparision.
First, I was half joking. Second, the overall point being that people often tend to joke or laugh as a means of coping with the atrocities happening around them. This is true in all sorts of situations.
My friend's sister got in a car crash last year. Aside from potential injuries, she was a chance she could be arrested and face imprisonment (won't go into details). My friend's initial reaction was to crack a baseball joke (about how she's "quite the hitter") and my other friend's (her brother) reaction was to laugh. Neither of them could process what happened the second they saw it in front of their eyes. Once a few seconds passed, they were horrified.
It's more common than you'd think.

Sometimes i also make jokes after something bad happen. There´s a difference between that and cracking jokes while the world is falling apart though. With The Avengers that´s pretty much the norm.
Anyone who thinks that the way The Avengers deal with problems is "human" and "realistic" hasn´t really been in a truly tragic situation. And when i mean tragic, i mean tragic.
Not that it can´t happen. But it´s not what people usually do when they see themselves in tragic situations.
That being said, The Avengers aren´t really "humans". They´re comic book characters with abilities that real people don´t have. Nothing realistic about them or the world they live in.

That was how this site started. It was originally a blog site in anticipation of the release of the Raimi Spider-man films. It then grew into the larger Superhero hype.
