This is probably the last year for Taker, Kane, Show and Henry.

I have not cared for Taker since his match with HBK.

I've not given a rats ass about Taker since at least three Manias ago. Taker is clearly past his prime. He is a nostalgia act at this point.

Big Show said last year was going to be his last in the WWE but came back. Show has been getting into really good shape so perhaps he may finally be gearing up for one last run.

Kane and Mark Henry make sporadic appearances. The two of them are already part timers.

The WWE needs the part timers to bring back the casual fans. What happens when the Rock, Goldberg, Lesnar and now Cena all leave for good? The casual fans have no reason to tune into the WWE anymore once those guys leave.

Damn, this summer it'll be a decade since "The Summer of Hell 2007."

It's telling that the WWE is so reliant on old stars at their big wrestling show piece.

If the WWE wants casual fans to care about the current wrestlers then they should invest promoting them more outside of the WWE.

The Rumble is an hour long. Since it's on the Network they can end it well before the 4 hours. I'm pretty sure they did for Survivor Series.

My NXT thoughts.

I thought McGuiness would replace Graves. I approve of this choice. Nigel would fit right in as the voice of NXT. Nigel knows how to sell the talent over in the ring and call a match.

Dillinger is the Ziggler of NXT. Mega over but can't win the big matches and is stuck in the same spot.

Diy got a good match out of the Authors of Pain. I know AoP aren't popular around here but I think they improve everytime a I see them. Their selling has got better and the combo neck breaker/powerbomb looked cool.

More Rollins vs Triple H building towards Mania.

The Fatal Four match was short but surprisingly hardcore for a modern wwe women's match.

Askua turned up, kicked everyone's head in and then leaved.

I was a fan of beer money back in the day but I've not been overly impressed wrestling wise by Bobby Roode in the WWE so far. He is a great heel. He needs a better finisher than a DDT.

Only the strong! Nice win for Roddy.

Honestly, when it comes to that stupid style of comedy that Vince likes, he should keep it contained to PPV commercials. This sort of thing falls flat for actual shows, but whenever they do comedy for commercials it's always fun and people remember it fondly.

I'll echo others by saying this Royal Rumble is particularly intriguing this year because the field feels so wide open. In recent years it has felt like the winner was crowned before the match began, and not the winner anyone wanted. This time all the focus is on the big special attraction part-timers who I don't think have a serious chance of actually winning, leaving the door open for a surprise winner.

Out of the announced competitors, I'd be happy to see Chris Jericho, Sami Zayn or The Miz win, there's intriguing potential in any of those guys getting the Mania title shot. But I think this year the winner could be one of the unannounced surprise entrants. Samoa Joe is my fave, so I'd of course go ga-ga if he debuted and won. But best pick could be a returning Finn Balor winning and being on a crash course for Mania to reclaim the Universal Title he never lost.

And if Kurt Angle is in this match... oh boy. If I hear that theme kick in for the first time in over a decade after the counter hits zero, I will lose my mind!
