Deadpool 2 Deadpool 2 News and Discussion - Part 1

It can be hard to outdo or even match a great first outing, but it shouldn’t be that difficult to still make a good film.

Often times, it's a matter of having not learned the right lessons from part 1. I am not sure that is the case here or what have you, but if this movie turns out bad, my guess is too much improv, meandering, and fourth wall breaking. Which was the wrong lesson to learn from Deadpool. We love those things, yes. But, you cannot use them too much. Then it just leads to a plot no one cares about or the movie is not taking seriously enough.

If this is true, then Tim Miller was the secret ingredient of that formula.

Its pretty rare for comedy sequels to be as funny or as fun as the original which may be an issue here.

I also wonder if they leaned way too much toward fanboy service stuff with Cable, X-Force, time travel, and setting up shared X universe stuff, when the test audiences were expecting more of just a fun romp.

Have seen a completely untrue report of 'Deadpool 2' testing poorly. From what I heard the first 2 test screenings both scored over 90 with the second one scoring close to the top mark. I've also spoken to people that saw it. Everyone said it's excellent. Fans will love.

ManaByte sticking to his story.

I'm just gonna ignore everything (good or bad) from this point forward and wait until May. Social media is irritating.

I think those things that made the first so strong can definitely be overdone. Getting the right balance is the tricky part and the first one nailed it and even managed to fit in a solid romance amongst all that.

Yeah as much as I love the first one I thought a sequel would be hard pushed to live up to it, just came along at the right moment and came together in a really odd way, the stars sort of aligned for it, a film that nearly didnt get made somehow defying the odds. Comedy sequels rarely are that good or can capture the magic of the first.

Anyway this could go either way yet and there is still one good Deadpool film in my lifetime which I thought would never happen after that Origins mess.

Really hoping that this isn't as bad as XMO, BVS or Fant4stic.

Yeah, the twitter back and forth is starting to get a bit too personal for my liking.

It would be so much easier to let it go but it seems that fans or critics want to keep driving this stuff based on other personal BS.

I'm gonna withhold judgement as to the quality of the film given that alleged "test screenings" reactions haven't always panned out either way.

Alot of times it depends on which source the scooper is talking to, as opposed to a scooper making up some out and out lie.

Some sources may lie to suit the studios agenda, some may tell how a certain faction of execs feel about how the reaction was, etc.

I remember when WW was reportedly a "mess", That WB gave standing ovations to "BvS" then it was reported the test screenings didn't go well, when ASM 2 got great test screenings etc.

Well, this I take more seriously because Steven (Frosty) actually runs a legit and credible site and company with connections in the business.

I have no idea who that other guy is and really he has given nothing to really prove that he is credible.

The Deadpool film would have been unimaginable after that thing we saw in Origins. At least I'll be able to rewatch this every year for good. Can't believe how good it is.

Well he has a verified Twitter so he's not some rando.

And he has once again implied [BLACKOUT][BLACKOUT]Vanessa bites the dust in this one.[/BLACKOUT][/BLACKOUT]

I read that too but

In the credits, Deadpool uses Cable's time travel-device to undo her death.

Ah, that makes sense. Still, [BLACKOUT]expect thinkpieces/backlash for fridging her to get the story going.[/BLACKOUT]

I love how it's the exact same writers from the first movie (the script was complete before Miller came aboard, from what we know, right?), and the director of friggin' John Wick, and people are buying into this stuff and still on the "Miller was the only reason it worked!" train.

Riiiiiight.

This all smells of major bull****. Glad to see saner voices came out contradicting it.

Anyone think...

...they are taking a cue from Uncanny X-Force with the story of assassinating a kid to stop him from doing something evil? Sans it being Apocalypse. Sounds like it to me.

Now that you mention it, I'd squeal if they made a better, comic-accurate version of Apocalypse for Cable's future like they did with Colossus last movie. Likely won't happen hough.

Deadpool was lightning in a bottle. I'm not expecting the sequel to surpass the original.

Regarding the rumors, if there's any truth to the details I read in those reports, nothing sounds that bad to be perfectly honest.

That being said, Fox would've been better off taking no action at all because it does make it look like there's truth to the story.

Exactly, not writing anything off about the sequel just yet, the trailers have been fun anyway, but my hopes for it were always surpressed just by the nature of the beast.
