So it's Tom Cullen, Edward Cullen or maybe Cullen Bohannon since "Inhumans" is no longer a thing.

WHO YA GOT?

Pattinson? :oldrazz: He's still got the sparkly-vampire-dude rep with the public methinks. Maybe with 10 years and a bunch of heavy drinking and hard living he'd suit, but not now. Who's going to be scared of Pattinson in a alley?
This is the worst argument that comes up in Batman casting speculation and it comes up A LOT. :funny:
“Who’s gonna be scared of [______] in an alley?”

It’s time to stop

There are a ton of actors who could play a great Batman. Kinda any good actor, really.

Robert Pattinson
Oscar Isaac
Ryan Gosling
Dan Stevens
Colin Farrell
Adam Driver
Joel Edgerton
Wes Bentley
Rami Malek
Aidan Turner
Matthew Goode
Jack Huston
etc

Now I want Rami Malek to play Batman just because I need to see what his weird eyes would look like in a bat mask.

Ehh, not really. Every guy cast in the role so far has had potential for scary demeanor. Keaton not physically, but he just oozes unstable-crazy-guy. Kilmer's a big dude with an intense look, Clooney wasn't exactly intimidating in his movie but he's capable of it. Bale's about the definition of grim intense guy. Affleck's a big imposing dude that can bring the gruff.

Pattinson's a better actor than he's given credit for, but it's still kind of that Gosling situation where like...yeah. I dunno. They're both probably capable of playing Batman, and Gosling's played a bunch of criminals and other types like that. But I just don't know how a Gosling or Pattinson character, without a gun, brings the scary in any of the various incarnations of "scary".

Like...that's from this year. He looks like some sort of heroin-chic fashionista.

Curious... what movies have you seen him in?

It wouldn’t just be Pattinson though:funny:
It would Pattinson in a batsuit.
Batman’s suit, tactics, and reputation are what scares the criminals of Gotham.
Not what he looks like just as a man :funny:

Going off the top of my head here, recent-ish ones would be Good Time, The Rover, Cosmopolis, Water For Elephants. It's definitely not fair to just write this guy off as an actor due to Twilight, you're right that's a moronic position.

But yeah, just personal taste I guess. He still comes off as a weenie. :oldrazz:

Keaton was a 3-foot-tall balding midget known for screwball comedies, and I'd be way more scared of 30-something Keaton coming at me with clenched fists at night than Pattinson. :woot:

Muggers?

Definitely more in the “Pattinson as Joker” camp than as Batman.

None of those. Maybe Wes Bentley if this was 10 years ago. Dan Stevens would be an interesting choice.

Malek? He's like 5'5

the M word for a 5'9 guy?

After the Gyllenhaal story first broke, Steve Weintraub did some further digging and he reported that Gyllenhaal was just one of several actors that Reeves had met with. If Gyllenhaal was really THE guy, I can't imagine Reeves or WB would've let him walk out the door without a deal in place. Therefore, we can conclude one of three things:

1. The planned timeline for The Batman's production conflicted with Gyllenhaal's schedule.
2. He simply wasn't interested in the part, for any number of reasons.
3. He was never as sure of a thing as previously reported, and Reeves had since moved on to other candidates.

It's not like the guy was signed and ready to go, and then decided to drop out after-the-fact.

Jake has like half a dozen films he's signed up for (within the past year). A few weeks ago he was set to do THE AMERICAN by year's end and is rumored for the new Spiderman villain role. So, I'd imagine maybe he wanted more of a commitment from DCEU regarding their plan. Or maybe simply he just went in for a meeting and that was it.

I was just thinking earlier today if Colin Farrell would be willing to do it and get into the kind of shape necessary.

I'd rather he had his Lobster / Sacred Deer belly and he has to squeeze it into the suit.

lol

I'd love a new gif of his In Bruges shrug but in the bat cowl. He'd kill it if they made the Bat universe as a dark comedy.

Can Travis Fimmel do an American accent? I don't know if he'd be good but he can play dark and crazy pretty well.

Don’t know about the accent but Batman would have some dreamy eyes.

Dan Stevens deserves a blockbuster. I have hopes of him being the next Bond, but after seeing The Guest, he could pull off a menacing Batman and be a suave Bruce as well.
