Captain Marvel General Discussion and Speculation - Part 9

My favorite of the origin movies is still Captain America: The First Avenger. That said, I need to watch this movie again now that I have the 4k/blu ray. I have not had any time to sit and do that. Between wedding stuff and possible job lead, travel, etc. That and keeping up with the summer blockbuster output. My free time has been dominated.

Having watched it 3 times since getting it last week, I'm still impressed by how rewatchable the film still is for me. I don't really find myself bored with it at all even if I do wish there was a tad more in certain parts of the film (but that's just me nitpicking.)

Lol so the Just a Girl scene won the MTV award for best fight scene of the year or whatever and Brie haters are so upset that they're now pretending to care about the MTV awards. Truly incredible how stupid and/or dishonest they are

The two blonde women are her stunt doubles and yes, that's Tessa cheering her on.
It's nice of Brie to invite her stunt doubles.

I finally got it on blu-ray and I have to say, while I enjoyed it the first time, I liked it alot more the second. It really is a fun, enjoyable movie and is in no way one of Marvel's worst as some are implying it is.

This movie is underrated, I really enjoyed it.

One of my favorite bits is when Carol wears the colors of Mar-Vell (from the comics, not girl type Mar-Vell) while she and Monica are working on the new color theme for her suit to detach herself from the Kree.

That said, Monica shouldn't twist her mother's arm like this to convince her how to set a rolemodel for her: Maria told Carol about the dangers and how risky it is as a suicidal mission, she knew her limitations, but the future Photon is like "Don't care about limitations and safety, you need to be reckless to set a proper role model for me". I rolled my eyes at that.

Got my 4k bluray finally and was watching deleted scenes. Those were pretty damn good I felt for the most part, but I get why they were cut.

I have only watched it the once and would say it’s far from Marvels worst. In fact, I found it better than a good chunk of them. Really looking forward to seeing it for a 2nd time but here in the U.K we have to wait another 2 weeks for the home release.

A challenge is definitely needed. I like how powerful she is, but that can make getting challenging villains a little harder to actualize, and sometimes I do wonder if she is too powerful..?
Like the headbutt from Thanos. I would have liked it more if she had been jolted back, took a second and then just headbutted him right back, rather than not being phased at all.

I'd be all for Korvac. Though kind of sucks we would not get Corrina in that storyline now.

I posted that rumor weeks ago in the Captain Marvel Sequels subforum. As far as I know its origin is not We Got This Covered, it's a Reddit user who has posted legit spoilers in the past. Or at least that's what I've heard

Yeah, she was a bit too powerful in Endgame for me, if Thanos, the biggest baddest MCU villain so far, who needed an army of heroes to stop him, needed an infinity stone to defeat her. So it made me worry about future villains and how they would be able to challenge her, but Korvac would certainly be a challenge for her.

Agreed.

They had Monica saying the absolute most in all of her scenes, I mean, no kid talks like that.

Oh, that’s great!

When exactly is Carol Danvers supposed to have received or began using the name "Captain Marvel"? In Far From Home, Peter Parker refers to her as that and "Nick Fury" tells him not to invoke that name. When did she officially start using that as a superhero identity? Because she was never referred to as that in either her own movie or in Avengers Endgame.

And why would the give her that title off screen, as if she's just assumed to be called that?

It's probably just another one of those important things that happened off-screen, just like her getting to know the other heroes.

I love when character development is relegated off-screen. It's great

1) What is even going on in the first picture
2) Remember when we thought the Kree sentries would be in the movie? It seemed so logical. Good times.

Those are awesome! I wouldn't mind seeing some of those in the sequels.
