They have small background similarities to the movies, but they are 95% their comic counterparts.
It might be too early to tell regarding sales but I also have a feeling that this wasn't terribly expensive to make outside of the song licensing so in theory, it could break even and get a sequel. Something else that might have kept the budget low was that the voice cast for GOTG is made up of unknowns compared to Avengers, which was basically a murderer's row of the most high profile VO actors in the industry. Is there any chance of a sequel for this or were the sales not good enough?

Also, positive word of mouth is only going to help this game. Even if it were to underperform in the long run, Guardians of the Galaxy has become a tried and true IP thanks largely to the MCU, so a sequel getting greenlit wouldn't be the riskiest move.Oh good to know, thanks.
Everyone I know who has played it has liked it so far, some who like the films and some who aren’t as into them. Anecdotal obviously but feels like a good sign. Also, positive word of mouth is only going to help this game. Good to hear. I don’t mind cutscenes so fine with me.I beat the game last night. Having a fully upgraded team by the last couple of chapters kept the combat from getting too repetitive. While I did feel like the last third or so dragged on a bit (this game has some long cutscenes after all), it was still a lot of fun and definitely one of the better Marvel games out there.
If we get another game and we still only play as Star Lord, I really hope they carry over all the team abilities and have them unlocked from the start, having all abilities available for everyone at the end worked wonders for making the combat more fun.I beat the game last night. Probably my favorite moment so far was in Chapter 6 when you can go talk to Drax on the observation deck. I admit I got a little choked up.
I actually couldn't believe that moment could be easily missed. You probably missed the most unforgettable video game moment of 2021 (inverse.com)
So happy to see this moment getting some recognition. Great game.
Feels like Square would be better off selling their Western division as they are never going to meet the ridiculous expectations, and it isn’t healthy continuously dragging them for it. That could be better for all parties.
