Part III (Spoiler Thread)

Darth Vader is scariest in small doses and carries a certain mystique because we never see too much of him. A Darth Vader show would ruin that.

Thankfully Kathleen Kennedy said as much.

But thats the thing, he is more than just Scary...more than just the boogeyman, a ruthless killing machine.

There is a man behind that, a man that loved too much and what caused him to lose everything.
A man who lost everything to only have rage and pain keep him going.
A broken man...and that is what makes his story so interesting.

I hate the idea of him just being used as this big scary evil character.
It is such a wonderfull Tragic tale, it deserves more than being used as "big scary sith".

You don't decide it's better. What I feel is less personal, less emotional, less creative, to me isn't better. To me it's not really competent to do something like that, because I see it as not viewed through the lens of real character, story, emotional weight, quality. But through empty gestures and feigned illusions of weight and character, while the story is dragged behind, to me.

I distinctly think that ROTS is better in mostly all the, writing structure wise, ways that I see as what measures a quality work. To me, story, character, emotional weight. While I think Kenobi has very little of those things.

I absolutely 100% do, amigo. All we ever argue on here are our opinions. All you are doing is trying to be is argumentative with some nonsensical word salad here. We ALL decide what is better. You, me, Dupree, everyone. We all have our preferences in what food is better, what clothes are cooler, and yes....which frigging show is vastly superior to a crappy prequel film that was garbage.

Eh, I wouldn't. I love Vader, but I think he works best as a threat when he isn't physically there as much. You make him the main character, you run the risk of it devolving into prequels nonsense.

We still have three episodes to go. Highly doubt they brought Hayden Christensen back just to be in the suit (and that one vision scene) and not eventually explore flashbacks or any internal conflict within the character.

And yes, Darth Vader being a tragic villain does not prevent him from doing evil acts. That's one of the many reasons people love him.

I want to see Vader in the Bacta tank, having ptsd and flashbacks to killing the younglings

We're getting Andor with many different perspectives from the Rebels.

A Vader show would be ideal, where we also see the war from different factions of the Empire. See the daily life of a Stormtrooper, an Officer on a Star Destroyer, etc.

No one hates Star Wars more than the fandom itself, is what I've come to find out. :funny:
Honestly, this show just isn't very well made, imo.
It looks cheap, and is shot and lit in the blandest, most tv-esque way I've seen from a Star Wars show yet. All the characters, besides Obi-Wan, seem incredibly one dimensional, and maybe they're saving a lot of character reveals for later, but they're really not doing a very good job of creating any sort of suspense or mystery about anyone in this series.

I didn't actually expect much from this show, but I'm pretty shocked at how little I like it.

I wasn’t the only one that got some MAGA country vibes during the Freck scene, right? It was pretty in your face.

Sure, and that's fine, but you can't exactly say that there aren't any Star Wars fans out there who don't blindly hate everything that's come out of the franchise post-Disney acquisition. That's what I was referring to.

Oh, definitely, that is true. I just don't think this show is necessarily a good example of that.

Eh, agree to disagree. I just can't understand people who state that Darth Vader was tame in this for instance.

1. Vader was so awesome and terrifying in the episode! Hayden’s physicality, the suit, the way he was shot, the power displays he showed by killing those people and then tossing Obi Wan into the fire! I felt literal chills! I have a feeling they used the respeecher for Jones instead of having him record new dialogue, which is a bummer. They could have used the voice actor from Fallen Order instead of that.

2. I felt more tension when Obi Wan saw the transport with the Empire insignia and then those stormtroopers came onboard, and then Obi called out Leila’s name before saving face by saying she reminded him of her mother. That damn mole sold them out, though!

3. Ewan’s performance was really good as always in this episode, you could feel the mix of shock, frustration, compassion, and when the time came for it, badassery. He’s pretty good with a blaster, but rusty with a lightsaber for obvious reasons.

4. Reva was a bit better in this episode. Still not a fan of the character, but I liked in Moses in other stuff like the Queen’s Gambit, and hopeful we’ll see more sides of her.

5. Most of the cinematography, sound design, VFX and music were great, especially when Vader showed up.

7. Indira Varma’s character as an imperial officer turned Jedi smuggler was a great twist, also pretty badass too! Love how the franchise keeps on putting in actors from GOT.

8. That ending!

Bringing up your opinion is one thing. You said it's better, not that you think it's better or whathaveyou.
I really don’t think Vader LET Obi Wan get away.
If that’s what they wanted it to be then it could have been handled much better than it was.
Vader seemed pretty content with throwing him around and torturing him and I think that would have continued if that other character hadn’t intervened.
Vader searched for this dude for 10 years. I don’t think he’d let him slip away again for who knows how long.
I'd like to think so, but I don't trust them to write something that's not dumb for the sake of plot, in that way, and I felt they haven't developed that, yet, and if they do develop it, I think it'd be weakly written after the fact information. To me, a simple showcase of the stormtroopers starting to go after them and Vader lifting his hand as an order to stop would've showed that in actions. Maybe even ending the episode on a cold, angry, but not yelling, line of dialogue, "Run, Obi-Wan. You can't hide from me anymore."
The lighting during the duel really flashed me - my living room was all blue and red :ssbr:
Very similar to the lighting at the Dooku duel in AtoC
I thought similarly. I thought it was one of the few visually distinct scenes this show has had and a high point of that end part, to me.

I'm legit shocked at the 56% audience score on RT. I'm not attacking anybodys opinion, but I am surprised at the score being that low.

Should someone like something they think is a faulty product or not very interesting/compelling in a visual, character based and/or story based way?

I think similarly. To me, lackings in interesting characters, visuals, stories. I think it's all mostly blah. Kinda par for the course for these shows, to me. A couple interesting things happen, but the rest is empty bland characters and exchanges, to try and make me think someone is cool, but, to me, is shows the weakness. I thought similarly with TBOBF. Maybe my expectations were too high for these shows. Maybe I should've expected it to be an empty, uninteresting story with weak/bland and/or empty characters.
Eh, agree to disagree. I just can't understand people who state that Darth Vader was tame in this for instance.
Tame, maybe not. Not as interesting or emotionally satisfying to engage with? In my opinion. Does Vader being tame or not make the show not weak? He can be as vicious as the day is long and burn people alive for a full episode. But if it's not done in an interesting and/or engaging and/or emotionally compelling way, some may see it as weak and/or lame and/or bland.

Bringing up your opinion is one thing. You said it's better, not that you think it's better or whathaveyou.

Dude, everything on here is someone's opinion unless you are saying things like "This movie grossed X amount of dollars" or saying a thing that literally happened in a movie or whatever topic is. I am not putting IMO in every post. It is a waste of time because EVERYTHING I post on this forum dedicated to movie discourse is opinion.

So the audience score is like 56%, interesting ofcourse.

But im not suprised, it isnt really good, the writing is bad, you notice that real quick with this show.

I would say the animated stuff far surpasses Revenge of the Sith.

I still maintain that live action the least of all mediums for Star Wars.

The animated stuff pretty much is the foundation holding ROTS up. Lucas just built the house before anyone laid the foundation. I remember before Clone Wars ROTS didn't have nearly as much emotional weight. And now thanks to Filoni Order 66 and Anakin's betrayal actually hurts. Anakin's betrayal no longer feels like a sudden turn. Its 3 years of BS and manipulation and war and death and loss culminating in a desperate breakdown.

While Filoni of course deserves credit, do not forget that Lucas was intimately involved with Clone Wars.

I would love a Darth Vader show

And adaptation of Soule's Vader comic run would be neat. I do think a Vader show pre-ANH is an issue, as Vader is just a straight up villain till Luke shows up to make him begin to think about changing.

Is anyone surprised after the official Star Wars twitter account called out the racism being sent toward Moses Ingram? I mean, this isn't exactly a new phenomenon. No one hates Star Wars quite as much as Star Wars fans, and no fandom deserves quite as much hate as the Star Wars fandom.

Well im a SW fan, but dont hate or dislike every New thing they make. I think the prequels are 10times more SW then the sequels. Also liked The Mandalorian series. Not liked the Boba Fett stuff, after 3 episodes i just stopped watching.

But this show, has 40% cool stuff but 60% bad for now. Thats how i view it.

Star Wars fans are notorious for going too far with their hate though. I don't need to read a 12 paragraph essay about your life story every time you didn't like a story direction in Star Wars.

It's fair for people to not like this show. I just find it odd that the audience score is so low. My brother hates the ST, but he's been loving this show so far and even he has told me "the fanbase needs to chill".
