The All Things Flash Thread. - Part 2

If the reactions were really that good they would have put the movie out already, with or without publicly distancing themselves from Miller.

I don't know what they may do to the film, but if it were being released as is I think we would have seen a firm release date by now. My guess is some form of re-shoot as even Aquaman is getting some.

Well rumors are Aquaman didn't test great. That said almost every movie has reshoots anyways. The fact that people still fall for the clickbait about that stuff even now is kind of ridiculous to me. (not saying you just in general)

Even if every word of that tweet was true though there is no way they would put it out now. Even if the majority aren't super in tune with what Ezra is doing they will when the summer Blockbuster press starts. WBD needs there to be a bit of air to dissipate...get some breathing room.

I have no doubt that the screenings were positive. But do I think this had the best test screening results ever or that audiences have never been so invested in a test screenings before in history? Hell no. That sounds like PR, hyperbolic garbage

Pretty much.

As you noted, both can be true.

It's clear there are people at WBD who are very invested in this thing being released, given the test screenings and the money they put into it.

The 2023 delay was pretty convenient for Warner Bros. and gives them time to make a decision. Obviously, there is stuff happening behind closed doors we are not privy to. But Warner Bros. is going to play all their cards close to the vest. They've been pretty quiet throughout this whole ordeal.

That's why I keep saying the film is a year away ,and alot could happen.

Well ,I still haven't been convinced the release is guaranteed at this point, or at the very least, the June 2023 release is guaranteed .

I'll truly be convinced once the release date gets relatively close, meaning months away as opposed to a year away.

Fair enough, but I was going off my impression of what Zaslav said. I was under the impression that Aquaman will get additional reshoots on top of the usual reshoots (which seemingly have become the norm with comic book movies from the big two). I had figured that Flash would probably see some additional work too to be more in-line with their new long term plans also.

That account also said Zaslav is worried because Aquaman 2 is testing poorly. If true then they could be adding even more Batfleck to turn it into a glorified Justice League sequel just like the second Captain America film was essentially an Avengers movie.

Um, what? Have you actually watched Winter Soldier?

I said this in the General Batman News thread and I’ll say it again here—

Even with all the Ezra Miller controversy and the confusing status of the DCEU, I still want to see The Flash and I hope it gets released in some way.

I’m a big proponent of the idea that people can, and at some times should separate the art from the artist, and the situation with Miller is no different. I’m actually a fan of Miller’s version of The Flash, it’s the one that actually made me somewhat of a fan of the character, so I’m up for seeing them portray the Scarlet Speedster at least one more time. It’s also cool to finally get a Flash film, being based on Flashpoint to boot.

But my general liking of The Flash is nowhere near my fervent love of Batman. And, hoo boy, the prospect of seeing Micheal Keaton’s version of Bruce Wayne in a new film at least one more time makes me as hyped, if not more than the Tobey/Andrew Spidey thing from NWH. Supergirl is a nice plus too, but Keaton Batman? That’s all you need to get my money for tickets and my ass in the theater :funny:.

Guys this tweet is made up. None of this is how a board does or would function. What, is Zaslav going to keep calling a meeting every day until the votes swing his way? More than that they wouldn't care! The board wants WBD to make X amount of money at certain quarterly and annual thresholds. They aren't holding sessions to cancel films over actors that frankly most people don't even know about. It's total fanfiction. Weird boardroom fanfiction.

Yeah that's utter nonsense. It makes no sense. Also if you have a board vote on the issue, why wouldn't you make a decision? If it's Zaslav's call, why even have a board vote?

It sounds good for clickbait, but anyone who has taken basic MBA courses (hell any business course that covers organizational structure) look at it with a very skeptical eye. There may be arguing going on but whoever leaked that info to this test screening tweeter is writing some serious fan fiction.

I realize that but his most recent arrest was a major story and it happened a week ago. If you're trying to track a timeline of all his controversy incidents, I think there was enough time to put that int his report.

it must be cheaper to spend money on this new campaign than to scrap the movie.

Everyone is being snarky now, and I'm not saying Ezra Miller should not be in a world of excrement. However, some actors have survived and gotten through worse over the years. I'm not justifying it, but it has happened. Look at Robert Downey Jr. In the mid-1990s, it didn't just look like his career was in trouble but his entire life.

Emile Hirsch went through quite a downward spiral as well, but he seems to have bounced back from it.

It's a rough business and we've seen it eat people alive. Look at Jenette McCurdy. She just wrote a memoir titled "I'm Glad My Mom Is Dad." That's pretty tragic if you ask me, how her mother was such a monster and forced show business upon her so much that when she died she was relieved.

Miller being arrested more than likely got them in front of their managers and agents and likely executives. It was more than likely the last straw. This is what they have to do to try and salvage their career.

Is their career salvageable? I'm not sure, but the court of public opinion and time will tell.
