DC Films The DC Studios News and Discussion Thread

rooting for her to be Talia or maybe Lady shiva. Maybe it will be lois lane though
Edit: didnt realise she was actually 36 nvm. I do think lois works well as being older than clark by a few years.

On twitter. I’ve posted it in this thread before.

I've seen every tweet posted by Gunn people quoted here, and in none of them he, directly, wrote Diana Prince's WW gonna appear in the first 5 years of his plan. He, allegedly, "hinted" it, but I didn't buy it.
I still think the fate of a WW's Live action is very bleak under Gunn's reign.

I want to see DC go deep into their bench. They have a great roster of characters to borrow from.
I’d love to see Nightwing, Mr Miracle, Red Hood and the Outlaws, Animal Man, JL Dark (with Zatanna, Deadman, Phantom Stranger, Madame Xandau, Swamp Thing, Spectre, Blue Devil and Detective Chimp) all get their own films. Same goes for Steel, Christopher Chance, Justice Society, and Wally West.
For me, spectre could be the most pivotal.
He can basically travel the entire multivariate.

*sigh* I’m getting sick of finding this tweet.

Bottom line, is we don't know specifically when WW will appear, or which project she'll appear in .

We can speculated about which project she may appear in first , but the bottom line is , none of us here know for certain.
Only Gunn does, and as of now, he's not saying which project it will be in.

At this point, it's a safe bet she's gonna be rebooted along with most of the other DC characters, and she's gonna be a big part of the new DCU whenever it is she arrives.

There's no rush to bring her back. Especially since the Gadot version is still ingrained in the public consciousness. This year alone Gal will be seen in two movies. Rebooting too soon could backfire on them.

There are other characters that need the focus and attention. Superman is at the top. We're getting Supergirl. Done right, Kara could be huge. The Lanterns for sure.

Wonder Woman is the definitive heroine and a core part of the trinity. She was one of the few that was handled correctly in the old DCEU. They'll bring her back in due time.

To me it’s common sense that the three Justice League-rs to be rebooted last will be the three with the most recent movies they want to give the audience time to forget - Flash, Wonder Woman and Aquaman. Supes, Batman, and Green Lantern will all be rebooted first, naturally. Obviously Batman’s a bit of an outlier in that he’ll have a concurrent Elseworld incarnation still going, but the other two have been out of the spotlight long enough that they are the obvious picks for first reboots. The others will definitely happen, I have zero doubt (I mean, what did y’all think the point of Paradise Lost was if not to set up a new WW???) just…after those. Martian Manhunter’s the only actual question mark, imo. Only because there’s precedent for his place on the team being replaced entirely. I hope that doesn’t happen though. He’s my fave after Supes.

There should absolutely be a rush imo. DC/WB continue to treat WW MUCH differently than SM/BM and then wonder why she isn't more successful outside of merchandise.

The character has no animated series to her name to which keep her "alive" in the media. She rarely has an animated movie to her name. She doesnt have a tv series.

She shouldn't be relegated back to being a guest star/co-starring in EVERYTHING so soon after 2 movies.

If they rush a new Wonder Woman actor after Gadot, audiences will reject her and that will hurt the character in the long run.

There really is no rush other than fan entitlement. They STILL haven't gotten Superman right in the 21st century. Green Lantern has NEVER had a good movie. Let's get those right before we rush into Wonder Woman again.

Also, we're getting a prequel series. So they're obviously not ignoring her mythos in the new DCU.

I think the concern is more of a “strike while the iron is hot” kind of situation. WW/Gadot still have some heat leftover from WW 2017. 1984 hurt the character a bit but she is still very popular because of that movie, its wise to not let too much time lapse before general audiences stop caring about her again.

Lets not act like Superman has been neglected when he has another television series that is on its 3rd season and he has an animated series coming out.

There is no fan entitlement when it comes to WW, its just facts. She doesnt need to wait for them to get GL right to get what she deserves as the top female superhero. There also isn't any rushing when 1984 came out in 2020. A new move wouldnt be able to come out until 2025 at this point even if they announced it today.

Audiences would complain regardless because they arent used to a WW change yet like we are with all these Supermen and Batmen who still get rejected until the movie comes out.

A prequel series that she likely is not part of still is not good enough imo if we don't have any other solo WW projects out there airing in some form. It is the same old - she has to wait while her counterparts get far more. The Batman is getting his own little spin offs with his characters as his movie is in active development. Also what? 3 animated series that are going to Amazon?

Superman & Lois is a niche CW show and has nothing to do with the new DCU.

The fact that we haven't gotten a good Superman movie during this golden age of superhero films is completely unacceptable.

Wonder Woman at least has one GREAT film.

Again, I've yet to hear a convincing arguement as to how rushing a new Wonder Woman actor would benefit the new DCU. Other than fanboy entitlement.

From my perspective, Gadot's connection to Wonder Woman is now a bit over-estimated.
Yes, she became and was very popular in the role. But I think her own popularity is now pretty much "divorced" from the character and I don't think audiences really "needs" her in the role anymore.

I mean, aside from her big solo debut, she was in a first Justice League movie that was a flop. Then her second movie got mixed reviews and didn't even get a proper release in countries that don't have HBO MAX, where it ended up being pretty much a "direct to video" kind of thing. Then there's the Snyder Cut, which analysis shows that people who bothered to watch it did't even finish it (...:o). And finally, there's Shazam 2, a movie that desperately teased her "surprise" cameo so that it was eventually watched by 50 people worldwide (something like that :o).

Ok, I'm exaggerating it slightly but in the end, I really think it's the same as Margot Robbie with Harley Quinn. A very popular cast, but after 10 years of mixed films and a successful career elsewhere, people aren't waiting on this anymore and are ready to move on, if they care at all... (and I'm pretty sure it's the same for the actresses themselves...)

Wonder Woman has exactly that. ONE (well two but still) GREAT films. Out of 2 films. total. Superman has...how many exactly? There is no rushing when the earliest the film could come out is mid 2025 from a last solo appearance in 2020.

I still havent heard how keeping WW on lockdown benefits the DCU or the character. You act like WW been out here all this time and it didnt take nearly 80 years to make it to the big screen and only 1 other actress portraying her in live action.

Superman & Lois being on TheCW does not take away from the show just as Smallville running for 10 years on WB/CW doesnt take away how big it was.

Do you honestly think a new Wonder Woman film with a new actress, two years after Gadot, would go over well?

Here's the reality of the situation. We're not getting a new Wonder Woman film until earliest 2028 and that's best case scenario. You can keep ranting but that's the reality.

Nothing is going to change that.

If its good, most certainly. The same way you can get a new Spiderman or Superman or Batman shortly after a previous version. Why is Wonder Woman being treated with kid fingers here?

Here's the reality: 2028 would be garbage and just continued the same old sexism the character faces. I will keep ranting, even if it doesnt change anything. And they BETTER come out with an animated series that has a healthy life or live action WONDER WOMAN series if they were to wait 8 years between 84 and a new WW.

If you think it needs to be 8 years for anyone to "not complain" about a new actress then...you really ignore how castings go over in the first place.
