Once more Trumpistas... NATO is our allied freindly nations we've been linked to since forever. Cozying up to, seeking aid from and sucking up to Russia as run by an ex-KGB thug was never a good look.

And yet...

The reason why the MAGA crowd are sympathetic towards Russia is because they like the type of government that Putin has. They admire Putin's authoritarian style and his emphasis on "traditional values". Many of them (especially people like Steve Bannon) also believe that America and Russia should be friends because they are both fellow "Christian" nations and therefore natural allies against Islam.

Its actually quite a widely-held belief among many people on the American and European far-right that Russia is the last bastion of White, Christian Civilization and the "Third Rome". This is because they think that America and Europe have become decadent and corrupt and are being overrun by Muslim immigrants from without and "Cultural Marxists" from within.
