2018 California Gubernatorial Election
Newsom (D): 61.9% (7,721,410 votes)

^ I think that's more of the number to compare. Governor's contest vs. governor recall contest.

Salon.com - [Senator] Sinema ditches Senate negotiations for fundraising trip to Europe
Sinema jetted off to Paris while her newfound Republican friends run ads using her to attack Democrats back home

MotherJones - Kyrsten Sinema Might Be the Most Important Vote in the Senate. Good Luck Trying to Talk to Her.
“We don’t know where she’s at. All she does is ignore and keep silent.”

But head-to-head matchups drive home how dire Sinema’s position could be. All four potential challengers have massive leads: Ruben Gallego leads Sinema 62% to 23%; Kate Gallego has a 60% to 25% edge; Stanton leads 59% to 24%; and Romero leads 55% to 26%.

And yet the party will continue giving her money and access to its resources and assets.

They are not going to try to denier access like other incumbents.

But, she is not making very many allies...

And yet the party will continue giving her money and access to its resources and assets.
She still wears a D next to her name. Until she makes a switch she will be privy to it.

The legislative agenda - voting rights, police reform, etc. - is essentially all over anyway without filibuster reform regardless of what Manchin decides to call himself so let him cry.

NY Times - Key to Biden’s Climate Agenda Likely to Be Cut Because of Manchin Opposition

Business Insider - Manchin's $60,000 [combined parent] income threshold for Biden's expanded child tax credit could cause 37.4 million kids to lose out on federal aid

Just because the cost and standard of living in WV is low doesn’t mean every other state should be brought down to WV’s level. Same goes for the climate.

The legislative agenda - voting rights, police reform, etc. - is essentially all over anyway without filibuster reform regardless of what Manchin decides to call himself so let him cry.

The only reason this budget had even a chance at being passed is because it can't be filibustered like the others. It's one of the many exceptions.

(Most State legislatures do not have a filibuster.)

I was against primarying Manchin as it's the second most Trumpy state in the United States (it's more overwhelmingly white and more uneducated than the average state) but if Manchin wants to eliminate himself from the party just let him go.

The Guardian - Joe Manchin, America’s climate decider-in-chief, is a coal baron
It turns out that the Senator wielding this awesome power – America’s climate decider-in-chief, one might call him – has a massive climate conflict of interest. Joe Manchin, investigative journalism has revealed, is a modern-day coal baron.
Financial records detailed by reporter Alex Kotch for the Center for Media and Democracy and published in the Guardian show that Manchin makes roughly half a million dollars a year in dividends from millions of dollars of coal company stock he owns. The stock is held in Enersystems, Inc, a company Manchin started in 1988 and later gave to his son, Joseph, to run.

EDIT: Manchin has called the story 'rumors' and 'bull****', but it would not be the first time he's issued threats of going away (2018).

Pushing Manching out now is bad. That is how we get Leader McConnell again.

It's not really a Democratic majority when at least two of the people are unreliable for anything and actively sabotage things and take hostages while they're at it.

I've defended against primarying Manchin in the past, but if he wants to immolate himself, I'm not going to stand next to him.
