Discussion: The DEMOCRATIC P - Part 3

I seriously thought this was a joke post when I first saw it...

Kind of surprising one of those wack-jobs didn't pull that stunt sooner.

For the wackos Christmas is just an instrument through which they can use all year long to oppress people that they don't like. Here it's a Muslim woman and a minority in the federal legislature.

https://crsreports.congress.gov/product/pdf/R/R46705

One hundred forty-seven women Members (27.2% of the total membership) [my note: women are 51% of the total population] serve in the 117th Congress

We’re at the point now where, because of Sinema and Manchin, we’ve got Democratic leadership telling the progressives to shut up and swallow what’s become of Build Back Better. That’s not to say it’s a bad bill (at least conceptually; there still isn’t legislative text to examine) but it could’ve been so much more if we didn’t have to cater to centrist Democrats.

The centrist Democrats are the party. Biden's whole "I'm not Bernie, you didn't elect a socialist, I beat the socialist" thing. You can't really have it both ways: did Biden win, or did Bernie? People seem to put way too much stock in "The Squad" as being the voice here, they're clearly a minority. I'd put money on plenty of these people agreeing with Manchin & Sinema anyway, but they're happy to use them as cover and let them draw the fire.

We need to stop with the "Manchin and Sinema are centrists" carp. I hear that on TV all the time and it's demonstrably wrong. They are conservative democrats; plain and simple. "Most" of the party is NOT with them; although it's true there are a few who lay low and let them take the heat, but they are also in the minority....as is Sanders, Warren, Markey, etc. Most of the dems would have supported a $3-3.5 T bill and would have allowed corporate taxes to go back to where they were. Outside of Manchin and Sinema, there would have maybe been a few senators who would have swallowed hard and gone along with it or "maybe" put up a fuss. One, from California, does not belong in the senate because....well, enough picking on her.

This isn’t a refutation of what I said. I’m not arguing that the Democratic Party is made up of a bunch of socialists. What I’m saying is that two Democrats - who can be described as centrist, moderate, conservative, whatever - have been allowed to gut a bill that was representative of the broader Democratic agenda. Joe Biden ran on policies he was forced to cut because of them. We’ve seen support come from leadership and the rank-and-file. I haven’t seen any substantive evidence to suggest Sinema and Manchin were acting on behalf of, or taking the heat for, a silent majority.

Sanders wanted $6T. Sanders didn’t win the primary or presidency so of course that wasn’t happening. What people want is to hold the party accountable to what Biden campaigned on at the bare minimum.

Fixed.

What's the use of using a plural when it's literally 2 people? Grammar but **** that.

1) Two is plural.

2) The "centrists Democrats" I was referring to were, specifically, Sinema and Manchin. See: the first sentence. :o
