In Singapore. Don't venture outside for too long in Singapore because it's ridiculously hot and humid.

Chris talking about what would make for a more interesting better founded relationship for Cap in the MCU - and being right. Listen-up Russos and M&M. :o

Voltron, might be best if you skip this video.

Yes he is right.

I do wonder just how many conversations have taken place between CE, SJ, M&M, and the Russos about that relationship.

Come on, that was practically an invitation.

So Chris ships SteveNat. The reasons on why he ships them is very ironic because that's practically SteveSharon's relationship description in the comics where they lean on each other in hard times. SteveNat in TWS, in that church scene, Nat being torn between Tony & Steve in CW reeks of Sharon/Staron's moments in the comics. It sounds like he has barely read the comics where it's off putting for him to reduce and cheapen Sharon like that. And just like that I'm not so heavily invested in Staron :csad:. I'm jumping ship over to WandaVision.

This is so vexing because the Russos gave Sharon's role in the comics to BW in TWS and parts in CW.

He also thinks their different backgrounds are interesting. Nat and Sharon don't have the same background at all. Sharon is not a cynical damaged assassin/spy trying to wipe the red off her ledger. She is not in outlook and experience almost the polar opposite of Steve.

I don't think it's the use of BW that's primarily hampered Sharon. I think as soon as they decided in the first Captain America to use Peggy Carter as Cap's love interest (yes it's one kiss and they don't date but they're in love and the relationship spans 2 plus years) and then to build on that connection in TWS and even through Agent Carter that his relationship with Sharon was never not going to be colored by that. In Chris' answer he also speaks to how his feelings for Sharon are basically his connection to Peggy, his home.

In the comics Sharon was written first and Peggy was backstory but the MCU flipped that on it's head to the detriment of Sharon.

He's read a lot of comics but he's built his character though relationships within the MCU. Arnie was his childhood friend in the comics, not Bucky. Bucky was a kid soldier and partner he felt responsible for and guilty over, not his de facto older brother who protected him. Tony is who he's closest to on the Avengers in the comics, not Nat. The MCU is it's own alternate universe.

There is no better than Steve Rogers. :o

Besides Stan and Mackie also want their characters with BW.

They really need more women superheroes.

MCU needs more great women characters in general who are not (neccesarily) there only to be the designated love interest for the superhero.

He did mention their different backgrounds. But he also mentioned comforting each other in times of distress which is comics Staron.

But Sharon is also a cynical damaged spy after she worked as a mercenary and kept prisoner. She was quite biting towards Steve upon her return.

Yes, MCU Peggy did hamper Sharon and their roles were flipped; MCU really shot themselves on the foot with that one and it didn't help that Peggy kept reappearing constantly that reinforced Steggy to the GA in subsequent films after TFA. Funny because Peggy was given comic Sharon's traits too. In a way Peggy IS Sharon sans Sharon's name. I was disappointed that Evans said positive things about Peggy and BW but nothing about Sharon like why Steve would fall for her as an individual person beyond being familiar to Peggy.

I don't know :csad: I think it would've been better now if Sharon wasn't introduced if they're not going to develop her with justice and that Sharon's role in CW was given to Maria Hill.

Steve Rogers' book shelf

He seems to be really interested in war and politics only

How is there a Barack Obama book when William Sadler is president in the MCU? Or did MCU Obama loose the 2012 election?

He lost because of HYDRA. :o

Or maybe Killian gave really huge campaign contributions and pulled some strings to bring his bought Vice President into power with the intent to make him President after Sadler's assassination by the Mandarin.

Bookshelf:

  • Never Surrender: A Soldier's Journey to the Crossroads of Faith and Freedom by Jerry Boykin
  • Art of War by Sun Tzu
  • A Moveable Feast by Ernest Hemingway
  • All the President's Men by Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward
  • Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger
  • Steinbeck in Vietnam by John Steinbeck
  • Dispatches by Michael Herr
  • Madam President: Shattering the Last Glass Ceiling by Eleanor Clift and Tom Brazaitis
  • George H.W. Bush by Timothy Naftali
  • Barack Obama: The Story by David Maraniss
  • The Night Stalkers: Top Secret Missions of the U.S. Army's Special Operations Aviation Regiment by Michael J. Durant
  • The Second World War: An Illustrated History (2 vol)
It looks like he also has a large set of reference books that he passes as he enters the room and of course there are his records. I'd have liked to have seen some art books. Come on M&M and Russos - give me at least a nod to Steve Rogers the artist or at least to the Steve Rogers who likes Fantasy and Tolkein.

Well...more of Chris Evans not really feeling the current designated love interest:

You'd think CE would be encouraged to promote Steve/Sharon more. Right?

:oldrazz:

I'm surprised that he'd pick Peggy especially given what we already know in CW. I believe he said it due to his real life friendship with Hayley Atwell.

This has nothing to do with what happens in the film. And he is a friend of Scarlett, he could have chosen her.
He said he would date Peggy. It's cute. :ilv:

Peggy is the bomb and Haley is even moreso. How could he not pick Peggy?

The question was who would he, CHRIS EVANS date? It's a known fact that Evans personally loves brunettes with bountiful arses, just look at all the women he has dated in the past who share these assets. He even said that he was an arse man a few times. So no wonder Evans would choose brunette, voluptuous Peggy :cwink:.

Is this damage control from his previous love interest answer.

^ No. He's an actor, you'd think he'd be able to lie or fake it better :cwink:.

EVC is doing a much better job of selling Staron and demonstrating her comic knowledge of them than Evans has.

It couldn't possibly be because Sharon's relationship with Cap is pretty much the linchpin of her existence so far in the MCU. If that doesn't exist what's her purpose?

Steve Rogers as a character has far more relationships - romantic, work and friendship as well as his own individual purpose as a character and a hero. Sharon doesn't even crack the top 5 relationships Steve has in this movie. Even so he does his job - on screen whether he agrees with it or not.

Evans rarely bull****s. He's pretty much a straight shooter and if can't outright say what he wants to rather than be forced into saying something he doesn't mean or agree with his modus operandi is to skirt around a question by making a joke.

That said he was asked about which character he'd choose if this was real life and as much as he loves Scarlett and BW he said he wouldn't choose her because of the whole killer thing. :hehe: That and Peggy's awesome - who wouldn't choose her?
