Lol yea a new Spider-Man reboot that would go over well with everyone lol

Fury was in the Ultimate books a lot, and often it had nothing to do with his parents.

True but the set up in the MCU doesn't resemble US-M at all. Given the time from HC to this (correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't IW occur years after HC? Peter was there in CW and when Falcon and crew reunite with Banner they talk about a two year passage of time so he's much closer to graduating than he was in HC ) and Peter getting "knighted" by Stark as an Avenger (though given the possible use of time travel in A4 that may not stick ) the rationale from the US-M books loses some of its "oomph" given that Peter will have been doing the job as Spidey for awhile before Fury shows up.

I don't know if the set up from US-M can apply to FFH. Granted a ton of reasons can I guess explain Fury coming into Peter's life suddenly not least is the tried and true "coincidence" that Peter gets caught up in something that happens to involve Fury.

I just hope that Fury has a role that can be related to Peter's forward momentum as a character rather than just be a cameo with no weight to it. I think the Stark relationship paid off wonderfully myself so I want something like that with Fury where it yields something interesting and engaging, especially on an emotional level.

I believe HC and Infinity War are suppose to be rather close, with Far From Home being the summer after all of it.

Does that gibe though with it starting immediately after CW though? Again, Peter was in CW and Falcon says it's been a rough two years with Cap and his crew being on the run due to the fallout of CW in IW. Peter is given the Stark suit in HC and it's abilities all seem new to him so I can't quite see that HC taking place close to IW at all.

It's also possible that A4 is the last Marvel film to stick to a fixed timeline. After that we might start seeing every film act like the past stories happened "not too long ago" like in the comics. I suspect that's part of what Feige is alluding to when he says everything after Phase 3 will work differently.

If that's the case it won't matter much if Homecoming doesn't line up with Infinity War. All it would matter is that CW/SM:H/IW happened in his sophomore year and now we're in his junior year.

I like how it currently works. A similar timeline as our own, with maybe a few flash backs. Give it a semblance of reality. The characters are getting older etc... you can see tony having trouble with his arm, ptsd etc... kids growing up are growing up with peter parker, he is not some peter pan. Eventually he wont be a kid anymore but leading the avengers. The next generation will grow up with a ms marvel or miles morales.

I think in Spider-Man's case some of that is inevitable. Only way you can do the Harry Potter formula and put a movie out every two years is if you don't stay super-strict with the time line. It can be a curse but also a blessing.

If I had to guess what the timeline is in regards to him being in High School, its this:

Homecoming: Fall Sophomore Year
Far From Home: Summer Break between Junior and Senior year
The Inevitable 3rd movie: Spring Senior Year, ending with his graduation.

And if they ever decide to do more movies in college, you can be a bit more vague since people can be in college for years.

Do we know what deal he has with sony/marvel? How many films?

I know that far from home is the end of the current marvel/sony tie up but is tom contracted to more sony films?

This seems pretty spot on.

FFH is the last film in the contract for now.

So once again... Peter is in Germany for the airport battle and then comes back with the new suit in HC... But then TWO YEARS pass as stated by Falcon so Peter is older when FFH begins, which for a long time now we assumed FFH would begin after the end of A4.

Because it was poorly done and nobody cared about his parents ?

No. And again, not much of an argument when it's just "Well, this one time it didn't land, so we can never do that again." Particularly when there's nothing stopping a future director or next Peter Parker after Holland from doing just that.

Who in the hell would want another boring ass story about Peter's parents?

So... Marvel shouldn't have included the Hulk in any capacity given that the Ang Lee film was a dud? They shouldn't have Doom in any FF films because the previous outings of the character in live action weren't up to snuff? No Bullseye in the next season of Daredevil because Farrell's version was so dumb?

That's not to say they HAVE TOO make a story with the Parkers as an element either but I don't get that just because some don't like TASM1&2 that you can't touch on the Parkers especially since the TASM films didn't even actually resemble the actual story from the comics.

I think Holland still has one more film in his contract after FFH though.

The Marvel/Sony deal was for 5 appearances, and Tom's contract is for 6 films.

CW
HC
IW
A4
FFH
6th??

It's not just TASM 1 & 2. The story of Peter's parents largely has yielded absolute garbage in terms of story. Far, far, far more crap using that plot has been made than good things. Plus, we haven't even focused on Uncle Ben in the new movies, and he is a stronger father figure in terms of the Spider-Man narrative. Focus on the father figure we give a crap about.

FFH takes place after Avengers 4...

He was 15 and a sophomore in Homecoming and he'll be 16-17 and a junior in Far From Home...
The third film will probably be him graduating HS and moving on to college

If the writers and producers want his parents -- that's what we'll get.

I had zero interest in seeing Mysterio -- but now that he's the villain I am just hoping it's done well. Sitting there saying in 10 different ways how bad, stupid, lame it will be won't change a thing if that's what they're planning.

Mysterio is a villain many are happy to see, though. At least he has contributed more good Spider-Man stories over the years than his parents :o

He's also one of my favorites.

Yea. And why would they touch something that fans nor the GA care about? The asm series tainted Spider-Man and the parents angle was boring. I hope the mcu never touch it

Why are we still talking about the parents? Who said the parents are coming back?
