Aquaman Spoilers Thread (just in case ;) - please don’t enter if you don’t want to be spoiled)

Just got back from watching and this is the first cinema experience I've been to when everyone applauded after the movie started rolling credits. You could tell everyone had a blast.
I can imagine some of the GA got a lot more than they bargained for from a CBM, in a good way.

Just finished watching this and the octopus playing drums is awesome.

I think Mera is really good, got a lot of cool fight scenes. The chemistry between Heard and Momoa is quite good too. She is the serious but new-to-world innocent role which gets balanced by the carefree bro attitude but got real when sh!t got real.

The scene where Arthur meets his mom again is really good.

The Krathen is bigger than I expected.

Seems to me the obvious choice for the sequel would be the reversing the threat; we had Atlantis preparing for war on the surface, now the surface is preparing for war on Atlantis.

Because of the events of the first film Atlantis is exposed and the US, China, Russia etc are terrified to learn they aren't the most powerful nations anymore.
Black Manta, having knowledge of Atlanteans and experience fighting them, gets the backing of governments. They give him money, special ops soldiers and perhaps some nuclear weapons.

That makes a lot of sense. Then it sets up an Orm rebellion in a divided Atlantis in Part 3.

Saw this a second time on Christmas Eve with the wife to be, and it holds up very well! We're talking seeing it possibly again on Saturday. Really dig this movie

I got Orm and Black Manta's DC Multiverse figs for Christmas. Have to say of the Multiverse line for the movies, they're by far my favorites.

That's pretty much the plot for Aquaman Rebirth, plus the introduction of the Deluge; a terrorist group that hates the surface world, Black Manta egging on the war by creating more misunderstandings between both sides and Arthur having to try to make peace. Superman makes an appearance as well, coming against King Arthur in the name of the American government.

Yeah, that run was quite good. Now that he's king, I'd like to see some of the politics and diplomacy that entails.

I didn't see anyone mention this yet but was it just me or was there a motherbox nod in the beginning where we see Atlanta talking to kid Arthur? The camera pans to them and theres a unique box shaped object next to the couch that looks a LOT like a motherbox...or at least to me. Anyone else catch that?

Yes, there's a box that has design similar to Motherbox, a nod to JL.

I suppose gift shops started selling those as souvenirs after JL defeated Steppy.

:funny:

That dog was amazing :D I wish we saw more of him

RIP that fish

I wonder if they had jelly as prop/food for Nicole, the dog's reaction was funny too, James should direct like a live action Secret Live of Pets or something lol

I imagine there will be govt/organisations that wants to get their hands on the weapons and treasures as well. A full on attack underwater would probably work better than fighting on the surface (trying to avoid GL's mistake)

Pics?

So Atlantean High Borns are anyone who can pass for a normal human being right? I was just thinking of the crowd we saw during the face off and how many of them looked normal.

I think the princess of the Fisherman Kingdom was able to breath on the surface at the end and she looks like the Zora Princess from Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time.

Isn’t it that any underwater people who can also breathe air are high borns? I didn’t think looking human mattered?

yes

yep, I remember Mera said thay

They only mentioned it in one line with Mera saying only highborns can breath air and water.
The term highborn refers to feudal societies where certain families are deemed better than others, they are the royalty, lords, knights, dukes etc, they own all the land and control society.
All the atlanteans we saw breathing air were royal so it does follow that.

Of course in human societies highborns aren't actually physically superior to others, they are just the ones who hoard all of the financial and political power.

I think in the case of the Atlanteans, the highborn are that way because they are related to King Atlan (either closely or distantly). And Atlan's body was fused with the magic of Poseidon's trident, which ascribed him other-worldly powers - I'm guessing as well as anyone who came in contact with the trident when it was fused (which could be all the highborns). That could've been the magic that allows them to breathe air and water.

Possibly, I'm not a fan of the idea that there's a special class of people who are better than everyone else. Of course I'm not a fan of monarchies either.

You are on a superhero board........
I think he means people who are raised in superiority above others not because of their deeds (which would come under the superhero category), but because of their corruption/powerful birthright.
