I like Christina Hodson’s writing a lot and I’m glad she’s such a big part of DC on film going forward but those directors are still such a baffling, embarrassing choice. Batgirl as a character, not to mention potentially Keaton’s Batman, deserve so much better.

This Batgirl movie from the writer of the Flash and Birds of Prey wont be connected to Reeves. Christina and the two boneheads who directed Bad Boys would not have been chosen to create a spin-off from The Batman. Tone is key.

BoP originally had Penguin as the main villain and were told to change it to Black Mask because Reeves was using Penguin. So that tells you everything. Supposedly Firefly is the main villain in Batgirl so not only does this tell us Matt isn’t using Firefly at all but i’m guessing Matt has no plans as of now for Barbara as Batgirl. Otherwise they’d use Stephanie Brown for the movie.

The raddest take on a solo Batgirl, especially if you didn’t have to connect to the Reeves Bat-universe, would be an Oracle-era Barbara mentoring Cassandra Cain as the new Batgirl. For my money, anyway.

Would eat my shoe if any blockbuster 2021 movies move to 2022. Worst case they'll get a hybrid release but the days of upending your schedule by months are over I think. And I personally don't even think it'll be bad enough for a hybrid release structure. I think no way home and every movie around that time frame will be just fine.

Highly doubt movies will be pushed back much, if at all. I think most studios realize at this point things wont be totally back to pre-covid box office for a while, and that the status quo will have to do for the time being.

There are a number of iterations where Batgirl is Gordon’s niece. Her race doesn’t matter really, but it won’t be connected to The Batman. It’ll be with Keaton’s Batman.

UnFortunately (as has always been the case) the people who own and run DC on film dont really know much about DC comics. They’ll hire any up and coming or hot new talent, regardless of their fit for the characters. We’ve never had a Feige, and it shows over and over and over again.

The Batman is literally the only live action DC adaptation I have confidence in.

At first I was thinking Reeve's approach was looking too similar to Nolan's... but now I see, it's still realistic but taking it own spin into it. More gothic, creepier, noir. Even if I'd prefer a more unrealistic Bat-world now, it looks so good and intriguing.

If there’s a part in Flash where they’re jumping from universe to universe then a moment spent in Battinson’s world doesn’t strike me as hugely unlikely.

Man, I’m glad we didn’t basically get the whole the movie through set photos. Yeah, we saw a lot during Liverpool filming but other than that, they did a good job keeping things out of the public eye.
