**OFFICIAL** Thor: Love & thunder spoilers thread

I can see why this is getting such poor reviews. The first 2 acts are a mess. Just a bunch of non-stop cringey and predictable jokes (temple being destroyed, “my name is Axel now”, grenade/speaker).

The battle in New Asgard was tonally all over the place. The threat of shadow monsters is completely undercut by Thor making jokes when he sees Jane. Then we get to Omnipotent City which was somehow even worse. Russell Crowe playing Zeus as an Italian mafia boss is definitely a choice.

When we finally get to the shadow realm is when the movie finally finds its footing. The fight choreography is great as is the cinematography. The threat feels real and isn’t undercut with dumb jokes. The final battle isn’t as well done but the visuals are great.

As expected, Christian Bale was the best thing about it. I could have watched another 10-20 minutes of him and wish we actually got to see him kill some gods instead of being told about it.

I loved Ragnarok and thought it was a refreshing change of tone. But Taika just went to overboard with it here. I really hope he founds a better balance between the dumb jokes in the next one if he comes back for another round.

We saw him kill a god at the beginning of the movie.

Backstory dude i.e. how it was created, it's history, etc. Btw the only killing we were shown was that random ass God Gorr killed. Beyond that it was just "second tier Gods" as Zeus put it, but we never visually saw any of that go down. Therefore this whole mythos of the God killer isn't quite what it could've been as far as on-screen goes.

Man you take these criticisms too much to heart it's hard to have any kind of conversation with you.

Then don't have a conversation with me, trust me I won't mind and how do you know how I'm taking anything we're typing words on a mobile device or computer.

No random person on the internet's opinions are enough for me to "take to heart". I don't know you, probably never will get to know you or meet you. Especially since I actually share the gist of your opinions on this matter, you're just being a tad extreme about it is all.

Right but that was due to the sword choosing him and that God not really fighting him. I want to see him take on a God that is expecting him and prepared.

Oh yeah I agree, I would've like to see that as well. Now I'm imagining Gorr running around sucker attacking random gods and I'm chuckling.

Also Zeus was clearly undermining Gorr's exploits when he said he was killing second tier gods to cover up his fear. As shown by his up close conversation with Thor which revealed that he was indeed scared and Gorr was a threat to major gods as well.

So is that officially the Hercules they're going to use moving forward? Who was the actor?

I already pointed out the difference is in the viewers sensibilities. Thank you though.

I definitely don't have the same sensibilities as the GA that's for sure and I'm happy about that. Most of their concerns boil down to if it's a passable popcorn flick when it comes to these films. I'll say it again though - Disney/Marvel's highest priority is spinning extra/new characters into these films and to get the most viewing opportunities possible. It's obvious. That's why we get less of the fleshing out myself and some other people are talking about, which would've made this film more enjoyable FOR US.

Okay, but then that isn't a flaw with the movie. That is a flaw of personal expectation. I think you overrate how much Marvel has fleshed these things out even in earlier films. We still don't know where the stones came from after all these years. But we don't really have to know that. Marvel does a good job at focusing on the need to know IMO

What did I think of the film? I will never rewatch it, that's how much I enjoyed it.

I'm not sure if this was supposed to be a Marvels Thor movie or if it was supposed to be a Parody Thor movie, that's how bad the "comedy" was in this film.

I'm not sure how this script got past anyone at Marvel, it was just that.bad. All of the comedy felt like it was meant for 5 year olds and all of these characters barely resemble the ones that we were originally introduced to.

I was especially pissed that they bring back Sif only for all of 2 minutes of cringy scenes where she loses an arm for no good reason, belives she's dying and they make it into a cringe worthy "I have to die in battle? Oh shorts!"

Thor and gang cant get Zeus to help them so what do they do? Go on a golden bloodbath killing gods left and right just to get the thunderbolt.

Why was Thor's axe the only thing that could open the door way to eternal land? This is an ancient place, built long before Thors axe was able to be its own bifrost. How did Jane get to the door of eternals with no bifrost?

Why did they have to give all the kids powers for the big fight scene? You know who I want to see in the big fight scene kicking butt? Thors friends...the Warriors "3".

Giving Heimdall a surprise offspring also was....so stupid. We had how many films with this guy and they NEVER alluded to him having a family. Im pretty sure he was meant to just stand guard his entire eternity.

I want Taika Waititi and the person who co-wrote this script no where near Thor 5.

And I am tired of them getting around the whole gay thing with making weird aliens gay. Im not sure why Korg even has a gender. It's made of a bunch of rocks.

They established Pegasus could also open portals earlier in the film. I didn’t really like that explanation but it wasn’t a plot hole.

You know what joke weirdly rubbed me the wrong way? When Korg was recounting Thor’s history and he gets to the part where the Warriors Three all died and he was like “anddd whoever the Hell these people were died,” I was like “damn thats kind of a mean spirited joke against those actors.” Its like literally saying no one gave a crap about any of those characters. I know i know, its not that serious and its just a joke but…ouch. Haha
Especially the “who was that guy?” line

Was she even on pegasus for that scene? If she was....where did it go after she jumped off? I cant even remember and I just saw it an hour ago...

I guess you just missed the part when the movie literally began with Gorr killing a god with the Necrosword on screen. Not to mention killing Falligar The Behemoth off screen, who was literally the size of a Kaiju. So the film didn't only tell us it was a god killer, it was explicitly shown on screen.
Showing Falligar already dead isn’t the same as showing Gorr fighting him and showing why he’s a threat. By your logic, just tell us Tony snapped Thanos, no need to show us.

The fact that all of Thors OG gang have been treated like complete and utter crap.....makes me mad. Korg isnt that great of replacement. Valkyrie is the only plus.

Yes she flew through on him. As where he went after, I assume in the background somewhere.

Speaking of Thanos....I found it strange to have an entire restaurant or whatever it was dedicated to the Infinity Gauntlet. The thing that lead to the massacre of their people and they....gave it a store?

Where's the logic in quoting an old post when I've already agreed with your point in a more recent post?

See here -

Yeap. It’d be like having a brick oven pizza parlor called Auschwitz’s.

Conversely, it also brought everyone back though?

I don’t know why they couldn’t be kept or involved a bit here and there, especially when Korg is pretty much all comedy. At least Hogun went out in style.
