DC Films The DC Studios News and Discussion Thread

The buzz from "insiders" before this slate announcement is what gave me pause on that front, because they straight up said they were open to keeping Ezra if they keep themselves in check, continue "working on rehabilitation" and the movie's a hit. But like my friend said to me the other day...there's no "rehab" on Earth for kidnapping and the other things they did. Gunn's tweet in response to that accusation (about keeping Ezra while ditching the others) - the "We haven't let Gal go and Ezra's film is already made" tweet - was what most reassured me now that he has no intention of keeping them after the movie's released. And I just sincerely hope that's really the case.

I still won't be supporting the movie with my wallet regardless, though. Gunn & Co. can determine whether the others did a good enough job to stay on without box office receipts. I'm sure they already have, tbh.

They seemingly more or less used publicly floating the idea of shelving The Flash a few months back to help scare Ezra into stopping doing insane **** in public. That seemed pretty apparent with the timing of things. Clearly there has been a bunch of behind the scenes push and pull between WB and Ezra.

I'm just immensely curious as to what is SO special about The Flash that has everyone buzzing about it like this. I've read some, not all, of the plot leaks and it indeed looks very fun but for Gunn to call it one of the best cbms ever made--and he didnt have to say that--he could have simply said "the movie's really good." That hyperbole from him makes me think the movie really did blow him away.

They're hyping it up hard because it was absurdly expensive and needs to be a hit. Gunn very well could genuinely think that, but they're still obligated to be hype men for it.

But like I said in another thread, Gunn and Safran have the next 8-10 years mapped out. They already know how Wonder Woman will factor into their big-picture plans. So all this "talking about stuff" with Gadot and "not being sure what we're gonna do with it" rings incredibly hollow to me.

They're buying time. That's all it is. Gunn said they were going to keep some actors from the old DCEU and I would bet the farm they're only keeping people from The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker. The League is all getting recast.

Momoa gets moved over to Lobo. Miller and Gadot get quiet but graceful exits.

I took it to mean that they don't know what they're gonna do with her — not the role of Wonder Woman per se.

And I really struggle to believe that.

I dunno. Maybe Gunn ends up bringing Momoa, Gadot and Miller back (or two of them at least). Just strikes me as odd that they'd carry over actors from the DCEU Justice League to be part of the DCU one. Especially when two of the Trinity are going to be new faces. Just seems needlessly confusing when Flash gives them the perfect opportunity to move in an entirely new direction and avoid all the muddied continuity headaches.

They used vaguely similar language to describe their current working relationship w/ Affleck; and now he's helming one of their nascent projects. With Gal, it's a little different, though. She's no longer tied to the role of WW in my opinion. But, unlike Affleck, she doesn't bring much to the table outside of acting and modeling. So, for lack of a better word, they're kind of stuck with her for the time being. Hence the ambiguous response we got the other day.

Do you guys think the DCU films should build up to Darkseid again? Or should they go down the Crisis route and use the Anti-Monitor instead?

What's so special is they've spent about $300mil on it at this point.

I feel like there'll just won't be a Flash for the new DCU until enough smoke has cooled off from the movie and then can introduce a new one.
Yep. It's no coincidence that "Chapter One" did not include Flash, Aquaman or Wonder Woman movies. They're giving breathing room on those characters before moving on with them. I would bet money their reboots will all be in "Chapter Two."

I would assume (or hope) that they'll hire a female director for Supergirl.
