Across the Spider-Verse Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse News and General Discussion

Actually, I change my mind and take back what I said in my previous post. I think I’m going to see this in the theater. I’ve waited too long for this to come out, and I’m not letting my current situation and quality of life get in the way of that. Might have to make a couple adjustments, but I think I can make it work.

Hopefully you enjoy and wishing you a safe trip to the theaters :D

The rating actually went up as it went over 100 reviews. That is extremely rare.

Tonight!!!!

How do you compare it to the first? The trailers look like they give everything away as far story. Are there any surprises?

The animation is vastly superior to the previous installment. There are plenty of surprises and hidden Easter eggs. Plus some unexpected treats.

Didn't love it but still enjoyed it. Looks like I'm in the minority though since I didn't think this held a candle to the first movie

Lawd the third act of this movie is pretty insane, and that ending left me shook. This was definitely bigger and better than the original in every way for me although maybe others won't feel that way.

What an emotional roller-coaster ride this was, and they didn't disappoint with my boy Miguel either. Dude was a badass from beginning to end and I really can't wait to see that character in live action.

All the cameos and easter eggs were great too.

Is there a satisfying way ending or does it end on a downer like Infinity War?

Really enjoyed this, I think I prefer the first one though just for how contained it is and how efficiently it tells its story, this one is hard to really give a final opinion on just yet though since it's a part 1 of 2, can't wait to see how Beyond wraps up this absolutely crazy story.

They absolutely do not. And there are some amazing surprises in there.

Not nearly as a downer as Infinity War. I would put it slightly more of a downer than ESB

Got back from it. Loved it. My fairly large audience loved it. I am going to see it multiple times. I think ITSV is still a better movie, because as much as I loved what it was doing here, it is still a part 1. It is still a good solid #2 Spider-man movie, though. And as much as I felt NWH was inferior to ITSV, NWH is much, much inferior to ATSV.

Just the opening scene of Gwen's world, good lord. The coloration they were doing, which was only hinted at in the first movie. And as much as I would love to see Spider-Gwen in live action, I'm not sure that live action CG will be able animate her ballet style web swinging nearly as well.

Miguel was great. Some solid reasoning. Pavitr Prabhakar was great, and much more key to the story than I thought. Thought the spider that really stole the show for me was Spider-Punk. He was amazing, and I cannot wait for the conservative think pieces ranting about him.

But, this again, is very much Miles' movie, though Gwen is very close to being the second focus of the movie. And it is a great story, I love it. A very solid continuation from the first movie. And I am loving that his mom is getting a bit more of a focus this time, while his dad is still very important factor.

And it isn't Spider-Carnage, but I will accept Prowler Miles.

Glad the full team is back for the sequel, along with the newbies of India, Punk, and Byte.

Going to be seeing this movie so many times.

Maybe I have to see it again but this one just didn't give me that "I need to see this again asap!" feeling the first one did. The characters besides maybe Gwen kinda fell flat for me, the story took much too long to get going and even the soundtrack was weaker.

It definitely feels like a part one of two so maybe once I see part two, I'll be able to like this one even more but as of now, I'm kind of shocked how many people are saying this one is much better than the first.

Early read over at BOT is that previews will land in the same vicinity as Guardians Vol. 3 did, around $17.5 million, maybe a bit more. So looks like an OW around 120 is in the cards. Fantastic start!

The fact that they leaned even harder into the craziness of the Multiverse concept is probably what really put it over for me on top of a stronger ensemble of more interesting/fun supporting characters overall.

As much as I enjoyed the supporting characters in ITSV only Spider-Ham and Spider-Man Noir really stood out to me, but here I found more characters to grab onto like Miguel, Jessica Drew, Hobie and Pavitr.

Miguel being at the center of this was definitely the best direction to go in IMO, because it made his character more compelling to watch and they gave us some great reasoning for his actions.

After that cliffhanger I'm definitely way more excited for BTSV than I ever was and if they are able to knock that one out of the park this should easily become one of the best trilogies of all-time.

Can we just shout out our true hero Jeff, who managed to snag a keeper like Rio? I LOVE how they adapted her in these films.

Gwen. If you're a Spider-Gwen fan, you have to be thrilled with how she's getting GOATed right now through these films. She's always been popular with the comic book crowd since her debut, but these are making her a household name. I mean just superb work on her character.

And Miles. How are they doing this? Miles is SO SO great. I love him. Peter will always be my sentimental favorite Spider-Man, but its such a testament to the writing that my favorite Spider-Man films are the ones centering on Miles. Look, we're getting a live action Miles one day and soon, but holy smokes it's going to be a tough act to follow this Miles.

I love the emphasis on Miles/Spider-Man being an anomaly, which on a meta level makes him stand out. I think it'd be cool if in the next film they emphasize that Gwen also is an anomaly because in every other universe she is meant to die. In fact I thought it was going to go there for a moment. Regardless, it would really make it feel like Miles and Gwen were meant for each other in a good way.
