I came across something about him one the internet the other day. I have never heard of him and never read any comics mentioning him. The site was about Beast Boy and it was comparing the two. It said that he doesn't transform but uses the abilities of animals. Like the flying of a bird, swimming of a fish, etc. I think thats pretty sweet. Does anyone have any other info? like limitations, side effects whatever?

Uh, Vixen's pretty similar to Animal Man, but it turns out sh eneeds her animal totem to control her powers, and she can also turn into an animal if she so chooses...

Do yourself a favor and find the Animal Man trades by Grant Morrison. They should be available at your LCS or at any borders or something. Trust me, it's worth it.

I loved Jeff Lemire’s run on Animal Man. In fact, I find his Animal Man and Scott Snyder’s Swamp Thing to be two of the best books in the entire New 52.

Both are very underrated.

Jaime Delano's run on Animal Man is one of the best runs of comics ever. He leans very much into the horror realm, and it riffs on Alan Moore's Swamp Thing quite a bit, as it introduces the concept of "The Red", which is similar to "The Green" over in Swamp Thing. Essentially, Animal Man is something of an avatar for The Red and as such, can even grow himself a new body from organic material. It's pretty great. I prefer it to Morrison's run quite a bit, and it only gets more stranger and more insane as the run goes. I think it *might* even be better than Delano's run on Hellblazer, too. He's firing on all cylinders here.

Interesting. I thought Lemire brought in the concept of Buddy being the avatar of the Red. But I guess it predates him by a good bit.
I love btw that Jeremy Adams writes Irey West as being best friends with Maxine Baker, Animal Man’s daughter.

Animal Man is my favourite superhero. Totally.
Grant Morrison's run is the greatest comic book I have ever read, along with Watchmen and Shade The Changing Man.

This is my forum dedicated to Animal Man:
