Skyfall Follow-Up Gets a Writer and Release Window

Source: The Daily Mail , Deadline
October 26, 2012

Skyfall is now open in many international markets and doesn't open in the US for another two weeks, but that isn't stopping the producers from getting the ball rolling on Bond 24.

The Daily Mail reports that the plan is for the untitled movie to start shooting next fall at Pinewood Studios with a target release date of fall 2014. They also note that writer John Logan has been hired to write the 24th film in the series. Logan was brought onto Skyfall to rework the script written by Neal Purvis and Robert Wade.

Daniel Craig will reprise his role as 007 in the film, making it his fourth feature appearance as the character.

UPDATE: Deadline is now reporting that Logan is contracted to write the next two films in the franchise. A tentative release date for the 25th entry has not yet been announced.

From Coming soon (http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=96411)

I know it might be a bit early to talk about this but I'm so excited for more James Bond films! What would you love to see in the next Bond film?

I really think it's time for a female villain. I'm sure Helen Mirren or Rachel Weisz would jump at the chance! It's also time to see Moneypenny again I think. I wonder (considering they are thinking about making the next two back to back) they might bring Spectre back?

After 50 years of continuity, Bond deserves a pass. And honestly, I don't care that they rebooted after Die Another Day. The end result ended in 2 of some of the best Bond movies of all time in Casino Royale and Skyfall. I could go deeper into reboots and defend it to a degree (especially rebooting Batman) but I don't care enough to nor is this the thread to do so.

Yeah, she was super-fine, too. I can think of worse things than living out your days on a Turkish beach with a smouldering Turkish girl.

Not the one at the start of Skyfall when he's popping pills and drinking beers.

Who said she is not dead? Last time we saw her was when he left the room to go to the bar. The room exploded.

Greek (although the character she's playing is probably Turkish). You're lucky she didn't get any lines, too.

Devil May Care... what a sucking title.
Now that the old office is back, and a male M, why can't they use Fleming titles? The Hildebrand Rarity and Risico comes to my mind.

Devil May Care is a great title. Rolls off the toungew really well, has the Bond feel, and I thought it was a good model. The Hildebrand Rarity as a movie title is overwrought and considering it may not have anything to do with the actual story, then why use it ... same goes for Risico. Oh and they used the Milton Krest character already in LTK, and didnt kill him with a fish.

Daniel Craig Wants ‘James Bond 24’ To ‘Reclaim Some Of The Old Irony’

Daniel Craig thinks the next installment of the James Bond series should bring back some of the franchise’s “old irony.” However, fans who are longing for the days of goofy gadgets, cheesy dialogue, and villains with suggestive names probably shouldn’t hold their breath. According to Craig, he’s just not very good at making the character campy. Although the next James Bond adventure isn’t scheduled to hit theaters until 2015, it’s never too early to discuss what’s in store for the world’s greatest spy. During a recent conversation with Vulture, the Skyfall star gave fans a little insight into where the hero is headed next. “Hopefully we’ll reclaim some of the old irony and make sure it doesn’t become pastiche. I can’t do shtick, I’m not very good at it. Unless it kind of suddenly makes sense. Does that make sense?” Daniel Craig told the website. He added, “I sometimes wish I hammed it up more, but I just can’t do it very well, so I don’t do it.” In other words, fans probably shouldn’t worry about Craig taking an adventure into outer space or battling thugs with a lot of questionable dental work. However, it probably wouldn’t hurt things at all if he cracked a smile every now and again. While Skyfall will be tough to beat at the box office — the film grossed over $1 billion worldwide — Craig and director Sam Mendes are planning to give it their best shot. The director confirmed his involvement with the flick earlier this year. For a while it appeared that Mendes wouldn’t return to the franchise anytime soon. According to Mendes, working on Skyfall really took its toll on him. However, producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli managed to talk him into coming back. “I am very pleased that by giving me the time I need to honor all my theater commitments, the producers have made it possible for me to direct Bond 24. I very much look forward to taking up the reins again,” the filmmaker recently said in a statement. Daniel Craig is currently in Harold Pinter’s Broadway play Betrayal alongside wife Rachel Weisz. James Bond 24 should hit theaters in the US on November 6, 2015.

I don't want to know.

Devil May Care would be fantastic title, I agree.

I want the next Bond film to do two things. One, I want Quantum brought back. It can be like the Connery films where SPECTRE was in the first two, then Goldfinger was standalone, then they went back to SPECTRE for Thunderball. That's a huge plot thread that needs to be tied up. Second, I want the main villain to be a woman. I always like it when the main villain is female because it poses a different challenge. I love Rosa Klebb in FRWL and Elektra from TWINE. Heck, the leader of Quantum can be a woman, that would be a great twist.

Yeah, I want Quantum back really badly. Just because QoS wasn't the best received Bond movie (and it wasn't even bad, just a comedown from CR) the previous movies felt all but necessary. People that act like its Diamonds are Forever, or Man W/Golden Gun, or D.A.D. are over-exaggerating.
