A Deadpool spin off

anyone else think, this might be right up Kevin Smith's ally...
(probably not for director, but, as a writer or other wise involved)

Is there any other way besides a total reboot? You'd have to change everything about that abomination. They simply shouldn't adress the movie, make their own film and act as if Origins never existed.

If hes picked up and brought to Killbrews lab after hes decapitated they can show him being experimented and tortured on, mention that that his body didnt take to the powers because he was rushed off the table in XMOW or his cancer has something to do with rejecting the powers.

Or they can go the clone route.

They are not gonna have him with those extra powers in the movie.

Why not get the writers of the comic to write the movie? ....just saying

I agree, thats what I was thinking.

Deadpool should be an action comedy. If it’s accurate to the comics, it would be brilliant and interesting, and they give him the mask, plenty of people will go see it, since that’s his image. Deadpool could totally carry a movie, not to mention the audience will be aware of who he is because of Wolverine. It could start off like the first issue, with Deadpool in the jungle stalking a unit of soldiers. That would be cool.

But if they leave him with implanted blades and laser eyes, I don’t want to see it.

What I want to know is what the fans think of the film rating.

Do you think an accurate Deadpool film needs to be rated R or can it pass as a PG-13 film(which it will most likely be anywasy)?

I think a Deadpool movie should be rated R, but since it's Fox that is doing the DP movie expect it to be PG-13 instead. I just hope Fox won't screw it up like many other movies they have done, but somehow I don't think DP can escape the fate that doomed Street Fighter, Dragonball: Evolution, and Fantastic Four.

DP can pass as PG13, but it should be R. I mean Deadpool stars in mostly for all ages comics. Hes all about violence, but the gore hasnt really been there. Sure you'll see a head roll, but you wont see some guy trying to stick his intenstines back in his torso.

You saying you think it's going to turn out as bad as those three films you mentioned? I think if it has the quality level of the X-men franchise including Wolverine it won't be as bad. I put all three of those films(and FF2) beneath even X-3 and Wolverine.

That's the thing though, I think with a movie focused on a guy who uses guns and katanas to waste and kill people if it's PG-13 it had better be a ballsy PG-13. I say that because you mentioned that the comics are mostly for all ages but in the comics industry their ratings code is waaay different than Hollywoods. Batman is for all ages but a **** load of the comics for the past 30 or so years if made directly into a film with no changes...would flat out be rated R, mainly for blood and death of course.

300 is not an all ages comic. They dont really even use the comics code seal that much anymore (or at least I dont even notice anymore). I mean Deadpool appears in a monthly title from a big publisher and a number of crossovers where Deadpool is usually the one getting hurt but it doesnt matter because he gets right back up. But look at something like the last two James Bond movies or Bourne Ultimatum or even Live Free or Die Hard. Obviously the unrated Die Hard 4 was cooler just because its not McLAne without a few f-bombs. But the action was pretty much the same except with CGI blood spurts and redder stains on McLane. Im pretty sure when it comes to violence, they are rated on the graphic nature of it so it would be based completely on blood and gore. If I had to pick, i'll always pick R. But I think PG13 would totally work.

PG 13 I'm good with, but Deadpool has to swear, I'm sick of all the %^&% in the comics when the character curses like a freaking sailor. And there is a lot that can be said in a PG 13 rated film.

And as a side note, I would love to see Deadpool switch over to a MAX series in comics, that would be the shizzle.

I actually think it would be pretty funny if Deadpool cursed, and was constantly bleeped out somehow.

Possible solution since you're still allowed to use expletives once or twice in PG-13:

Deadpool breaking the fourth wall during opening credits:
"Alright kiddies, because the overzealous censor boards think it's better if I burn people's faces off and stab others in the eye with a pencil as part of a magic trick than if I described certain body functions, I will be replacing those words in my sentences with 'Olsen twins', 'chimichanga' and 'Skip Woods is a *****e for turning me into Baraka'. Deal? So before we begin, to the kids, remember: 'Olsen twins', 'chimichanga' and 'Skip Woods is a *****ebag'. And to the MPAA? F*** you!"

I've thought of a way they could possibly get round the censors.

If there is a scene where DP is in a room full of goons you could have him trip out and start hallucinating. We know he hates clowns right? So maybe he would start hallucinating that every one is clowns and he goes round carving them up and what not. But instead of blood spraying out of them it could be confetti or something like that.

Then when he snaps out of it we see all the carnage left behind. Blood splattered on walls and pools of it on the floor.

Showing blood splats and actually showing him dismember people is different. I think something like that could work, and be pretty funny.

Just an idea.

Ace I love that, that's freaking great.

There's no chance of Fox making a good Deadpool movie.

Nice negativity there. If that's all you have to offer the Deadpool thread I'll speak for all Deadpool fans and say stay out.

And anyway, going by every single article it seems Fox are not actually part of the development of this movie. And then you have to remember that Rothman is now in charge of Searchlight and Fox TV now too(somehow?!?) so maybe he won't get the chance to get his grubby mitts on this project.

If it's in Fox's hands, it will be ****, just like Wolverine.

HAHHAHAHAHHAHAHHA

people are again trying to defend that a FOX comicbook can be good? hahahahha.

''whait until the movie is out''

you got to be f... kidding me.

The articles of it's confirmation say that Marvel Studios is producing it with Fox distributing like TIH (except for TIH it was Universal) & TIH was pretty good.

Plus, this means Deadpool will be able to mess with other Marvel characters (Fighting Hulk, kicking Cap in the nuts anyone?) & that (since Magneto is also part of this rumor) Quicksilver & Scarlet Witch could be in Avengers.

I really hope it's true.

Fresh off the muscular performance of "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" at the boxoffice, Fox has thrown into development a spinoff featuring Deadpool, the wise-cracking mercenary played in the film by Ryan Reynolds.

Reynolds is attached to reprise the character for what for now is simply being called "Deadpool." Lauren Shuler Donner and Marvel Studios would act as producers.

Deadpool is known as "the merc with a mouth," a character that under Reynolds lived up to his billing in "Wolverine" until the end, when the movie deviated from the comic book persona, imbuing him with several superpowers and sewing his mouth shut.

It is understood that Reynolds would regain the ability to mouth off, with the movie going back to the roots of the character known for his slapstick tone and propensity to break the fourth wall. The character also was disfigured in "Wolverine," though it's unclear at this time how much the studio would want to mess with Reynolds' handsome mug.

The project is out to writers.

Fox considered a "Deadpool" spinoff early in "Wolverine's" development process, which is why it cast Reynolds. The actor was brought back in the month before the movie's release to shoot one of two "Easter egg" scenes that appeared after the end credits. The scene showed Deadpool alive, though when last audiences saw him, he appeared to be dead.

UTA-repped Reynolds next stars opposite Sandra Bullock in Disney's romantic comedy "The Proposal."

Fox is developing it, Marvel Studios are only producing it in the same way they produce all licensed Marvel flicks

Am I alone on this...? I'd like to see James Ransone (The Wire & Generation Kill) play Weasle.
