Why should Manning lose those privalages? I don't like him, but he was hit as he threw that ball. THAT is why it went there.
Same. Plus the sense of entitlement he seems to have.
Yeah, it was a bad quarterback decision to not get rid of the ball or take the sack (which he should've done, in field goal range with two time outs left). His arrogance led him to make a bad decision as quarterback. It wasn't a bad coaching decision.
That bugs me, too. This is why I much prefer Brady to Manning. Brady had to earn where he is now. Manning has been everyone's darling since he was drafted and was waiting to be annointed.
I agree that he should have taken the sack, especially with a TO left. But, it wasn't the play call that lost them the game. His arrogance may have, I'd agree there, but the play itself wasn't the problem. Any QB who doesn't make that play call could make the same pass.
That said, glad the Pats won
Exactly. Plus Brady can win big games (people can talk about Manning's Super Bowl win all he wants. AFC was filled with injuries that season and the Bears were the worst Super Bowl team of the past twenty years).
Also, forget his Super Bowl MVP. His past two MVP awards have been total B.S., in 2009 it should've been Brees and in 2008 it should've been a defensive player (either Polamalu, Harrison, or Reed). But the AP just loves to sing Manning's praises so he was given them, no matter how undeserving.
2008 - Michael Turner
2009 - Brett Favre
Yep. Cowher was absolutely right on NFL Today this afternoon. Manning vs. BRady, you gotta go with the proven big game winner.

Manning has won the AP award for the past two years?
COMPLETELY agree. Also, did you hear them call this his best season during the game
I think he meant that those players should have won the award in those yearss

Favre is not the best QB of all-time. He has stats, but that is due to longevity largely. Best Super Bowl era QB for me is Joe Montana. It's not always about numbers, it is about the clutch and winning games. Montana was the best when the game was on the line, pure and simple. Favre doesn't make my top 5.
And I am not a Favre hater, for the record. I think Favre gets a lot of undue hate. But, best of all-time he is not.
ESPN is making excuses for the Pats winning. I'm sorry, but MANY teams are not that healthy at this point in the season. That is NO excuse for losing the game to the Pats today, and I should have figured ESPN would start being apologists for Manning and his 3 INTs

Top 10 with Peyton Manning? Inclunding stats with everything else.
I really think, when it comes down to it, he's nearly 35 years old and starting to get past his prime. He should take a lesson from Favre and make next year his last and not continue to chase a second ring until he is on the field week after week making a fool of himself. If he wants to stay in the game, I guarantee that Jim Irsay would fire Caldwell tomorrow and make Manning head coach, if Manning were to retire as a player and wanted to go the Don Schula route. But I hope he doesn't taint his legacy like Favre.
This. I still like Montana and Elway more than Farve.
Manning would make a great coach, and I think he should go there once he is done. I also would like to see him not taint his legacy like Favre has done. I don't see him winning anymore rings, either. Colts are not the best AFC team anymore. I think he has a few more seasons in him, but he risks becoming Favre if he tries laying at almost 40.
