Disney in talks to buy Fox: X-Men Homecoming? - Part 4

Denzel as Xavier wouldn't be "forced", it'd be incredible and Marvel would be lucky to nab him for such a role.

I say go even further, make it that the whole team are played by minorities. The only one that somewhat needs to be Caucasian is Logan, because he comes from old money in the 1800s, but hell, they probably don't even need Logan for a while.

Denzel would be an odd choice for me since when I picture Xavier, I think of him as a warm, nuturing English guy(I’m aware he isn’t British in the comics).

Casting Washington would certainly be a big departure from what I generally think of as Xavier.

He should be a luchador.

No, but i was trying (and failing it seems) to make a comparison that changing it up JUST BECAUSE we need to hit certain 'diversity' wickets', is similar. Forcing diversity just for the sake of it..

The soulless, money grubbing folks leading these multi billion dollar mega media corporations are not casting people of color into these movies JUST BECAUSE of the need to hit 'diversity' wickets. Nor are they doing it out of a perverse desire to keep the poor, oppressed caucasian male down. They are doing it to make money.

Though a certain segment of the population likes to continually point out the disappointing BO performance of the mediocre, poorly marketed Sony Ghostbusters reboot as a reason why diversity in casting doesn't work, the proof is in the pudding. The Fast and the Furious, Wonder Woman and Black Panther all made bank because people want to see actors and actresses that share a similar gender, ethnic or racial background to them onscreen. Crazy, but true! So prepare yourself for a whole lot of pearl clutching. It's only going to get worse for people like you.

I'll point out that Logan having a privileged family background wasn't retconned into his history until well after he'd become a fully fleshed-out character, so there's no great loss if it were junked to make him Cree or Blackfoot.

I would love to see Denzel in the MCU. I dunno bout him as Xavier but get him onboard for somebody.

Xavier has always had a morally ambiguous side to him. This is the guy behind storylines like Deadly Genesis and who joined the Illuminati, after all. He loves his students, but can also be ruthless when committed to a goal he thinks is right. He's more like Magneto in that way then he'd care to admit. We've gotten two pretty straightforward takes on the Professor already, I say it's time we get someone who can delve into the darker side of the character.

I hadn't thought about Logan being a native tribesman, but that could be really cool, and really hammer home his history as an outsider.

But then that kind of takes away from his stories with Silverfox and conflict with Creed, which seemed to have an underlining quality of Creed feeling that Logan was betraying his race by "lowering" himself to be with a Blackfoot woman.

How about just not changing key characters? Simple enough, right?

People went to see Fast and Furious because people are stupid.

What does this mean? Can Comcast put in a counter counter bid?
How long before the deal is officially rubber stamped?

Comcast can still put in a counter bid.

Comcast can still put in a counter bid.

I thought I read some where it would be pointless from them to do so? That it would take another 6+ months for Comcast to go through what Disney just went through to acquire the rights?

Disney is at a major advantage, for sure. But Comcast I still think will come back with something.

That they haven't yet is telling. That they are reportedly trying to get other parties to join them is even more so.

I highly doubt any will, and that spells game over for them.

Comcast is like a team down 30 in the fourth quarter with a minute to go, them trying to put another offer together is the equivalent of scoring garbage time points

great bring on the MCU Doom already can't wait

Comcast is expected to make a 90billion bid before the deadline in July.

Source?

Update: Is this the WSJ report that Kabletown is attempting to partner up with a private equity form or other interested party to push the bid up to $90B? We've discussed that and I don't know if we can call it "expected".
