Ant-Man and the Wasp Spoilers Thread

Posted a quick review in the other thread. Thought I'd might as well share it here too.

Enjoyed this one for sure! Yes it has the same fun value as the first one however it improves upon the first with a stronger emotional core between parent/child. The plot is nicely layered and engaging. The humor is great. Not the funniest MCU film, that still goes to Ragnarok imo. Every character had just about the same level of involvement if not more than the first film with the exception of Luis' buds but that's OK. Lol. I mean Lawrence Fishburn had more character work in this than the 2 Dceu movies combined for Pete's sake! Smh.

I did a back to back with The Incredibles 2 and with as much praise as that I2 gets, I found this more engaging for me. I2 packs a wallop in creative action and amazing animation, but not near as strong in emotion and story relevant subplots I feel as AMTW. MCU with another winner.

8/10.

So, I just got out of seeing this. I thought this was a much better movie than the last one. Last one felt like it lagged in large parts whilst this one felt breezy in comparison. It's still a very middle of the road Marvel movie, and seemed to go too far out of its way to explain what happen to Ant Man after the events of Civil War to often, but it was at least enjoyable enough to sit through.

What was weird to me was that this felt neither like an Ant Man or a Wasp movie, this felt more like a Hank Pym film. As for the villain, it wasn't like I was expecting much from Ghost but it was a nice change of pace to have a villain do something that wasn't for either money or power, it just feels like this was the wrong type of movie for that type of bad guy.

I'd give it a 7/10.
I think they have some plans for Ghost maybe not big but something minor. I didn't feel she was needed but I too didn't expect much from the character when they were announced. They went in to the Quantum to get the particles to help heal her. I would think Janet was only temporary, maybe Ghost will be part of the reason Scott gets out.

Ghost was almost a villain for the sake of having a villain, because I honestly think you could have removed the character from the film entirely and just have the heroes focus on rescuing Janet. She's not terrible by any means but it just feels like she in the wrong movie altogether.

MarvelStudioSpoilers reddit says you can see a face in the Quantum Realm in first end credits scene

It would have made more sense for Cassie and Luis and all of Scott's other friends to turn into dust rather than it being Hank, Hope and Janet...just felt anticlimactic to me

Enjoyed this fim so much and even way more than the 1st.

Makes me wonder if Paxton and Maggie survive Thanos Snap

Right?? I was kind of disappointed with Ghost in only that there wasn’t really much for her to do and you could have literally took her out of the film and you wouldn’t have noticed. She was weak, but it’s not a nitpick. Just surprised she didn’t have more involvement. Would like to see more of her.

By the end of the movie as we got to the credits I felt like yea….. This is what I really came to see! That credit scene was…. Man, my theater erupted with cheer when they saw what happened! I was surprised but we were all like Yes! Theories confirmed!

Much better than the first and will def go see again. Walking out you can hear everyone talking about their own theories and the ending of this gives you much more to work with now... I have many questions about Scotts current situation.

Ghost/Bill Foster pulling Scott out was my initial guess but there are also rumors of a 15 year old Cassie being cast.

I have been thinking about JAG lately and part of Captain Rabb's back story is that as a high school student he pulled off his own Mission MIA/Uncommon Valor type infiltration of Vietnam searching for his missing father. What if Casssie does the same thing to get Scott out as a teen on her way with enhanced powers as Hank and Hope did to get Janet out?

And then Scott's knowledge of the quantum provides the final key.

My theory is something they mentioned casually in the scene: Time Vortex. They tell Scott to avoid a time vortex. We know Avengers 4 has a time jump. I think he is taken to the year Avengers 4 happens in a time vortex, which also will give Tony or whoever the realization that they can travel through time in the quantum realm, and possibly undo what has been done.

If there is one single thing that disappointed me in this movie, it is the fact they dusted all the Pyms. We just FINALLY got Wasp in the MCU, and while it is not permanent and I get she is coming back, I was hoping she would get a proper role in Avengers 4. Wasp is arguably the most important lady in Avengers history (even though in the MCU that form comes in Hope and not Janet), so her not being in Avengers 4 much is disappointing. But I do think she was well used in THIS movie.

I was hoping Hope didn't get dusted, but I just knew Janet would. I thought her and Hank would've when they were on the beach together.

I think it adds a lot of intrigue that Scott is stuck there though. Like I can't wait to see how he gets out/who helps, etc.

I was okay with dusting Janet and Hank, but I was well, HOPING that Hope didn't, LOL!

Same here. Once I saw that promo art of Avengers 4 with Ant-Man and not the Wasp though, I had a good feeling.

I had a feeling when Lily said she wasn't in A4 much, LOL!

I felt just doing the Pym parents would have had a better arc for Hope, as she would now have a personal grudge regarding Thanos.

They are probably dusted too for all we know. I expected 1 or 2 Pyms but not all 3 so it was a good surprise.

I liked the switch of roles/callback to the first Ant-Man with Scott breaking Hope and Hank out of prison with the suits this time.

At this point I don't even have Hope's lol I'm just along for the ride ...i'm invested

As a person who found the first AM movie to be "meh" or "fine", I didn't expect much from this one.

It's freaking fantastic. Hilarious throughout. I felt like I never stopped laughing. I heard praise for Michael Pena in the first one, but never thought he was THAT funny. But here? Good lord....he had me laughing out loud several times.

Every character works. Male and female characters all get to shine without the stink of politics. (that's how you do it Kathleen Kennedy)

Really good action too. Moves at a nice pace so you are never bored. One of my favorite Stan Lee cameos too. I think I stifled laughter for 5 minutes after his line.

Several "villains". Some of them are funny too. (an FBI agent cracked me up a lot) But Hannah John-Kamen as "Ghost" was more serious. She has these amazing eyes that are spooky and beautiful at the same time. It works to great effect for her character. Ghost is a very effective villain with actual motivation. Hope to see more of her.

Michelle Pfeiffer and Michael Douglas get substantial roles and Pfeiffer is almost regally beautiful at this point.

9/10

Stuff like this is blatant trolling and baiting arguments. Someday I hope you realize how incredibly petty you’re being.

I want an 80s movie with young Hank and Janet but it has to be Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer.

More victims of the snapture. Pretty good film. Enjoyed it much like the first.

My question is was Sonny Burch and Ava characters from the comics? I know Ghost was a dude.

Your right. And I kind of feel they are setting the character up as an antihero of sorts.
