Dune: Timothée Chalamet’s Paul Atreides Is ‘Mesmerised By The Desert’ In Exclusive Image
Awesome.

How will they do the shields? I was sort of thinking like there way Rebels did the Mandalorian shields...

If it is training...where's his shield?

Maybe it will be added in post, or it's just diactivated. Who knows how it will work in the movie.

How will they do the shields? ...
Although IT will look 100 times better, If it's anything like the Scifi Dune TV Series (*which more people should watch), the shields are visible when first activated, and then only by shimmer when, and where they are being struck, or being penetrated.

*as far as the 2000 scifi Dune TV series, if you can get past the terrible vfx, and just accept it's part of the look of that universe.
And ignore that for some reason, production surrendered more money, power and leeway to a crazy, completley out-of-control hat designer.
And put on subtitles, to get past some of the heavy mumbles and accents.
It's actually not a bad show, and gets even better as they get into Dune Messiah and Children of Dune.
Which first introduced (me at least) to James McAvoy, who made a great Leto II.
More people should give it a shot.

I did like how the sci-fi miniseries did the shields.

I do like the look of the first mini series. Dune as a stage play was an interesting aesthetic.

Yeah they did clearly get around some of the limitations of the budget by making it more "theatrical," which I think can work a little bit with Dune just due to the themes and characters. At times the story feels very operatic and Shakespearian. Far from perfect. As a TV miniseries at the time, I thought it was good for its time.

I enjoyed the 2000 Dune series, but Children of Dune was always the better of the two IMO. It just felt more grand and epic even if the vfx still weren't all that great at that time. I loved the music in it as well and you get some really strong performances from James McAvoy and Daniela Amavia who was just mesmerizing in the role of Alia Atreides. The only performance that I can remember really standing out in the 2000 series was William Hurt as Duke Leto.

IMHO Ian McNiece was a very good Baron Harkonen.

I just finished “book 2” or part 2 of Dune... whoa.

That was easily the best “chapter” yet. I can’t imagine how it’ll look/feel with Timothy and Zendaya. I’m guessing it won’t be showing up until the second film, though.

I will be curious if they still kill Paul and Chani's baby.

Could be just an on set running shot, and those shoes were used to get them safely up the ramp.
You can better see the stillsuit shoes on the images of Chani and Liet Kynes

Although it's hard to tell if the same soles are there.
Who knows, they apparently also just redressed some store bought gloves.

With everything else going on and to look at when eventually watching the actual film, these minor details can become pretty negligible.

Apperantly Cara DUNE uses the same gloves. :D
You thought desert planets, spice running, ancient orders with mind compelling "voices", fallen prophetic "chosen ones" clones, and supernatural twins were the only similarities?
Now officially the same universe,:funny:

Amazon product Gonna become the most popular glove in geekdome, Oakley stock about to jump!

And again these minor insignificant details, nobody cares about, will be negligible once watching the film, story, fx, and actors.:yay:

These days nearly everything is molded or CGI-ed, so it's much less frequent in high-budget stuff. Low budget films still don't have much choice.

I must admit it was jarring at first seeing those present day objects used for something as futuristic as Dune, especially considering our new digital era, but then you just look at movies like OT Star Wars, Alien films, Terminator duology, Blade Runner and other... They feel so real because all elements are recreated with real materials, even if it's some junk or present day clothes... It makes me love DV's choice even more.

Looks like you are right. Shield wrist instead of shield belt. Mmh.
Maybe it will work differently. For example, it won't cover the whole body, just be some kind of force field of limited size, so it's placed on the hand for better control.
