Playstation The Official Playstation 5 Thread

Sifu looks raw.

I would give the state of play a 6 out of 10 the Nintendo direct last week a 7.5 out of 10. Was surprised we didn't see more ratchet and clank. Was hoping for Horizon FW but nope. Kena got a release date and that is good but its now august 2021 went from launch ps5 game to Q1 2021 to now august or about 9 months after launch or about 5 months after the end of Q1 2021. I think covid has had even a bigger impact than I was expecting on development. Ratchet and clank missed launch window by like 2 months and GT 7 has already been pushed to 2022. Oddworld looks great and got a April 6th date and Solar ash looks kind of interesting need to see more.

Nothing in that live stream appeals to me. Maybe one day I would pick up Returnal and Kena when they are like $20, but eh they aren't in my wishlist rn. Both games look good. However Returnal looks like a stressful game so I wouldn't have fun playing it. The resurrection gameplay and everything in the environment is changed after you are killed are confusing to me. While Kena, even though the environment looks a bit photo realistic, I'm not really cartoony character models. And if Sifu had a photo realistic graphics like lets say Mortal Kombat 11, it would have appealed to me. Videogames are eXpensive to buy, so if something that doesn't cross out something in my preference, its a quick pass.

Horizon Zero Dawn is still the only 2021 Sony console eXclusive that I have my eye on.

PlayStation Confirms Japan Studio Will be Re-Organized - IGN

Really feels like Sony is checking out of Japan. :csad:
I've been checking Sony's studios in Wikipedia. And this Japan Studio is one of their current studios that I don't have any game from them as the lead developer. And it doesn't look like they've released a game in a long time as well that their studio was the lead developer. So I wouldn't be surprised if Japan Studio is dissolved.

As for their market share in Japan... personally it doesn't concern me though I think Japan is probably the most important market in Asia when it comes to videogames.

Closing it for financial reasons makes sense. It’s just a shame that part of the variety will be gone and also part of the identity of Sony, being a Japanese console producer.

I only saw the end of the State of Play and haven't looked into all the games all that well yet, but right now the only thing I care about is the FFVII Remake upgrade and expansion. That game is awesome and I can definitely see myself playing it again, especially with PS5 upgrades.

I'm excited for Kena and Sifu, but them being EGS exclusives on PC bums me out. :csad:

They should have done it when they launched the console back in November. I feel like there's always a "but" and "wait for it" when it comes to the ps5.

I still don't get why 1TB/2TB PS4s are available in the market yet they launched the PS5 with only 825 GB. There's no neXt gen leap in terms of storage space. Then they removed the ability to save ps5 games in an eXternal hard drive. While neXt gen psvr is also coming later, more than a year after ps5's launch and the current psvr is incompatible.

I think PS6 has a lot of room for improvement especially the availability of the console.

I guess a bit harder with SSD costs.

The storage solution is significantly more expensive on the PS5 so that's why there's less storage (it's especially a factor for a product that's actually sold at a loss), and they can't have PS5 games installed on external drives since PS5 games have to be written so they take advantage of the storage solution. It's also sort of the reason why the expanded storage space has taken time since when the PS5 was launched there weren't any normal SSD's that were fast enough. The expanded storage units need to have faster pure writing speed than what's in the console since the storage solution in the console has several optimizations for it's specific use, like more priority channels, and have to compensate for that with pure speed.

hey guys need some help this is for a friend who has a PS5. he heard that there was issues with using external storage on it causing the system to get damaged. I know that as long as you follow the procedures for removing the drive and not just unplug it or grab by the cord and not the plug etc you should be fine. but have any of you PS5 issues had any issues with damaging systems and also what brand/brands drives are you using. I heard/read that you can only use the external for playing games you had on PS4 installed on it and can only use the PS5 internal for PS5 games etc. any info would be helpful and I will relay it to him.

That is a very cool compilation.

The only ones I have no interest in playing are Bloodborne and Gravity Rush 2. The rest either I have already played it or still waiting to go on sale.

It is and I liked how all of them are third person action games. Just right up in my alley.

Something to add.

I'm playing Ratchet & Clank right now and they aren't in that compilation. It probably has to do with those two nothing look like humans. And I'm pretty sure Ratchet & Clank 2016 sold more copies than Infamous Second Son and Gravity Rush.

I'm enjoying the game right now but I would have liked it more if I was controlling human like characters. I would like a new ip from Sony that has lots of space/different planets eXplorations but with human looking characters, kinda like Mass Effect and Fallen Order.

Yeah, I love third person too. Characters and story are very important to me (harder to reach the same heights on those fronts in first person as you are less connected with the character), and great gameplay on its own will only keep me invested for so long.

They do have many human character related franchises so it’s nice for a bit of balance to have some things like this too IMO. I do know what you mean though. I loved the jump from
FF VII to VIII as the characters looked more like realistic humans. Both games are among my all time favourites but I find it easier to take things more seriously when the visuals aren’t cartoony (even though VII managed great emotions regardless of that).
