If we’re not going classic, then I think this costume is the way to go:

And would cool to see her creating more psionic weaponry outside of her dagger & blades, like a bow & arrow, whip, etc.

I actually heard that X-Men Apocalypse was going to have Psylocke wear that costume or something of that sort until Olivia Munn pushed for that sexy purple costume.

Not to tell anyone what they can want from the characters, but I'm curious about this because I haven't gotten the impression Rogue was supposed to be that tall in the comics. And it's not like Anna Paquin is short.
Growing up with TAS and video games, she definitely looked as tall as Marvel Girl and Storm.

According to fansites, she's at least 5'8 in the comiXs.

Unfortunately, the costume didn’t translate quite well onscreen but that was the least of Psylocke’s worries in Apocalpyse.

I liked her Apocalypse costume, but since I agree they won't be going that route in the MCU, hopefully whatever they come up with will be good.

A lot of things didn't translate well under Fox's watch.

Anyway, Elodie Yung has my vote for MCU Psylocke.

I honestly couldn't care less for heights. It's only important for a very few characters, like Wolverine. And if Jackman, as tall as he is, made the character so iconic and memorable like that, I think height is 100% irrelevant for characters like Jean, Storm, Cyclops, Bobby, Betsy, Rogue, etc...

I'd like Rogue to not be skinny like a lot of Hollywood actresses because the one I know (Anna Paquin) isn't like that, but I've never concerned myself with heights per se. The more attached I get to a character the more I form an idea of what they look like, though, and in some cases it's pretty much synonymous if not completely synonymous with a particular actor. Jackman is basically the definition of Wolverine to me, and I'm getting there with Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow.

In Hickman's run Kwannon is Psylocke and Betsy is Captain Britain. My thinking is the body swap stuff is off the table, but I don't know if Feige and company would ignore the most popular version of the character.

I definitely want to see that scene where Psylocke goes toe to toe with sabretooth and saves the day

Seeing what Feige is doing with The Eternals, it gives me a good feeling that we'll have four x-women on the first movie.

Im just wondering who Feige will choose.

definitely, part of what makes the xmen the xmen is the women are often the best characters and they have stories other than being the wife, girlfriend or corpse.

yeah. I think most of us would agree that Storm will be from the get got 100%, then Jean is a strong option, but who knows if Feige has "Fox fatigue" or wants to shake things up.

so the other two spots are the quesion marks.
Kitty and Jubilee are huge possibilities, either both or one of them as the point of view, as many fans have suggested. It makes perfect sense and they are perfect for that role.

So lets say the "last female" of the team is the real big question mark. Will it be Rogue again (like X1)? will it be Psylocke to make her justice and show her as an actual team member? (even if she joined the team in the comics so much later, but who cares). will it be Polaris? (The Gifted elevated her popularity, so would be a nice move from Feige's part, aside from paying the way for Havok/Polaris relationship, something never done by Fox either). Will it be a C list mutant? with Marvel Studios, anything can happen.

In any case, leaving the last option out for a sec, the first movie will likely include four of the following:

Storm
Jean
Jubilee
Kitty
Rogue
Psylocke
Polaris

whoever they end being, call me excited for the combination Feige ends choosing. :hrt::hrt::hrt:

If Jean’s not part of the first roster, where should she be? Is she still part of the first class, just absent from the school at this time—maybe at Muir Island? Or toss the comics origin out and she’s no longer one of Xavier’s first students…

Jean Grey is my absolute favorite but despite both subpar Dark Phoenix adaptations, the Fox films did spend a decent amount of time with Jean—and loved Famke in the role. Maybe we could take a break from Marvel Girl and slide in another telepath, like Psylocke as others have suggested…

MAIN TEAM
Cyclops
Storm
Beast
Psylocke
Thunderbird (or Forge)
Iceman

and newcomer
Jubilee (or Shadowcat)
Thr problem with removing Jean is that she's not a just single-card character, she's major piece of connective tissue within the mythology overall

- it's removing a core tenant of Cyclops' development (which has never been defined in any of these films)

- it's forgoing the opportunity to properly adapt the Summers family (which has never been done by Fox)

- You're removing Sinister's ties to Jean (another character Fox hasn't touched)

- The Phoenix has been done twice, but it's such an iconic story that I could see Feige wanting to take a crack it at some point down the line

I always like your lineups because they feel realistic, like something Marvel would actually do, given their track record. I like the framework of your lineup, but I'd just change things up a little bit to make it a bit more formative friendly, if you will.

MAIN TEAM

Cyclops
Storm
Marvel Girl
Forge
Colossus (or Thunderbird)
Iceman
Kitty Pryde/Sprite/Shadowcat (newcomer)

IMO Psylocke should be saved for a future film where her character/origin can be properly defined. She's a verrry different type of character from Jean. You could even introduce her in a non- X-Men project

Forge could take Beast's spot on the team, since they functionally serve the same purpose.

Storm
Marvel Girl or Polaris
Psylocke
Rogue
Jubilee

The ones that I want to see in the first film.

Shadowcat for the second film. Emma Frost when they introduce the Hellfire Club. I'd like to see Sage, Dr. Cecilia Reyes MD, Marrow, M and Dazzler at some point.

I don't want to see Prestige, X-23 and Hope Summers in the movies.

I just think having Psylocke on the team from the get-go would be such a departure from the Fox films & from Jean Grey as the team psychic so I’m intrigued. Maybe Jean’s off on Muir Island in a stasis pod next to Kevin MacTaggart teased in a post-credits sequence? Lol that sounds dumb but I just can’t get away from the thought that removing Jean opens up the roster in exciting ways.

I do like your lineup too; I like using Forge as the resident tech guy but by losing Beast, you lose having a mutant on the team who’s mutation is represented physically. Colossus can hide his metal skin and tbh he’s already so involved with the Deadpool character, I wonder if Marvel will be interested in using him again (he could be in Deadpool 3 after all). So I’d keep Beast.

I also wonder if Forge could take the role as the team muscle too? His tech is his greatest weapon and alongside an artificial leg that’s tricked out, he’s got a big ‘ol 90s gun or something along those lines—a cool new visual tech that’s different from Stark or Wakanda that can be a through-line in the MCU’s mutant corner of the universe, like in the Blackbird or the Danger Room & Cerebro.
  • I love the idea of having Thunderbird on the team (and not die), but his powers aren’t super fun onscreen. Maybe they can be visually reimagined for the MCU.
Kitty would also work fine as the POV/newcomer, I’ve always liked her. I think it’s Jubilee’s time to be honest, but I’d be fine either way. Iceman too if we’re borrowing more closely from Ultimate X-Men.

Oh and I fully expect, if Jean's around, the Phoenix force will be revisited in the MCU.

Couch it in a Cyclops & Phoenix Disney+ story involving a dark future with the Clan Akkaba & their son Cable or in a crossover film with Guardians of the Galaxy and the Shi'ar.

The ideal roster and the way to craft them has to be a distillation of things from the 90s cartoon and Wolverine & The X-Men in my opinion. Also since Feige said it will look different than we’ve seen them before, you keep that in mind.

The X-Men should consist of a team that Cyclops handpicks in order to get the band back together. The original 5 were a thing before but went their separate ways and now Cyclops is trying to restore the family.

Cyclops- field leader, tactician, the Cap of the team.

Wolverine- this is his second year with the team and he’s always butting heads with Cykes (like in the 90s cartoon)

Storm- Second in command and pretty much the powerhouse and peacekeeper in the team.

Psylocke- Our resident psychic ninja and she has a flirtatious relationship with Cyclops (he and Jean are broken up).

Gambit- He’s only been on the team a few months and people are still feeling him out, not sure if they can trust him since he defected from the Thieves Guild. Storm has a soft spot for him though.

Beast- The only remnant from the O5 besides Cyclops, and Hank is just like the comics. The brains and also there to be the one Cykes can talk to and confide in besides Xavier.

Professor X- there to make sure that the dream is alive and well.

Jubilee is also around and is the audience surrogate and is slowly acclimating to life at the mansion. Also has a relationship with Wolvie. I love Jean Grey, but she’s off somewhere after an intense breakup with Scott. Let her be his Macguffin for a while.

Scott and Logan played by white actors, Psylocke and Jubes are Asian roles, Storm and Gambit are black (Gambit is from NOLA, come on) and then Xavier and Beast are toss ups.

You gotta go with a team that the general audience can sink their teeth into and actually know. Then save the obscure mutants for sequels and spin-offs.

I like the idea that Jean is introduced with the lore in the first film, but she's not actually seen. Like Cyclops says something to Professor along the lines of "did Jean ask about me?" (and then we show Jean in a surprise casting in the post-credits scene).

The audience knows Jean Grey and what she means in the world of X-Men. It'd be great to play off that history with her be Scott's off-screen girl friend/love interest that maybe the team even chides him for since they've never actually met her. Is she even real? Then, in a sequel, we're introduced to Jean Grey as a bad*** super heroine more akin to her Ultimate X-Men iteration in a true departure from her Fox films appearances.

I would even venture that when you finally see Jean, do a real Dark Phoenix movie with the Shi’Ar, M’Kraan Crystal and the Hellfire Club.

But again keep it way down the line.
