Superman & Lois General News & Discussion Thread (TAG SPOILERS!)

Oh, wow, I thought it was meant for DC Direct and got moved to the CW. That's even more impressive then. But I will say, as much as I liked this show, there were two episodes too many. I felt the story was done by 13. You could have made the Eradicator twist work but could have made it fit within the 13 episodes. This show just seemed more structured for 13 or maybe 14 episodes but was hamstrung by the CW format. I'll give the writers the benefit of the doubt on this one, just because everything was just so consistently good beforehand.

The last two episodes weren't bad by any means and doesn't ruin anything, but 14 just wasn't as tight and deliberate as the previous episodes. I don't know how Jordan and Sarah being arrested for trespassing had much to do with the plot. It was that type of stuff the show prior knew better to do. Plus I felt the delay of Edge being gone took the momentum out of the story and they were forced to do it to stretch things out. The finale was still good, but I think could have been a lot better if things were tighter. Overall, just a few dents on a Lamborghini. It doesn't ruin the whole car, but they're still there and you can't ignore it.

Just finished binging the show and overall this show is great and mops the floor with all the other CW DC shows.

I did feel the show spinning its wheels a bit in the later stretch, a shorter episode count and tighter pacing wouldve fixed that but I really do love this world and characters. Theres a maturity to this series thats refreshing opposed to the campy tone of the other CW shows. This feels more cinematic.

Also, I cant believe I’m saying it but Hoechlin and Tolloch’s Lois and Clark just MIGHT be my favorite live action iterations of the characters. I wont definitively make that claim yet but these two are SO GOOD embodying these characters.

Clark and Lois are the best thing about this show, among an equaly great cast overall. Their chemistry is amazing.

I'm about 5 minutes into the first episode and I have to say that I'm seriously impressed. I was super skeptical when they first announced the show (mostly because I'm mixed on this Superman), but this is already changing my mind pretty quickly. Looking forward to binging the rest of this!

Well, so much for Superman and Lois being involved in the Flash's mini-crossover event.

Be glad he's not because I wouldn't trust the Flash people to handle the Superman from the Superman & Lois show where he's portrayed strong.

They are light-years better than the Snyder verse versions and their relationship doesn't feel forced.

I like Cavill and Amy too, but I think their versions of Clark and Lois are a bit too cold for you to sympathize with them. Tyler and Bitsie have so much chemistry that is impossible to now fall in love with them. Their acting, specially hers, are great.

I like them both in the parts...I just never feel like their relationship is real. There is no buildup to it they meet and like a day later Zod shows up and they are making out in a field. That would be fine if we had seen him at The Planet interacting with her like in S:TM but it just feels backwards. I love MOS but that part never worked.

Tyler and Bitsie are just electric. No matter what is going on you can see it in their characters that they love each other and they would do anything for each other. In "Brief Reminiscences" you get to see it grow. You feel it jump off the screen because they make you feel it.

No hyperbole, I would take season 1 of this show over almost any CBM that has come out...especially DCEU and MCU stuff.

Yeah, I see your point. In fact, Amy's Lois knowing his identity was a nice spin that could've been so much better explored. Snyder/WB hurry to rush things really harmed Superman and his characters. :csad:

Do you guys expect to get some information for Season 2 at this year's DC Fandome?

They said they'll have a "first look" at S2, so yeah, some info and maybe some footage since they will have been filming for about a month (so they'll have shot roughly the first two episodes) by that time.

I liked seeing Tyler alongside the likes of Momoa and Pattinson. He certainly has earned his spot. It’s not just the writing, Hoechlin just embodies the character so much better than any of the modern Superman actors. Bitsie and Durance are tied for my favorite Lois.

Can’t wait for more of this show, I really hope the show isn’t limited in what villains they can use. I want to see Brainiac and Darkseid. Maybe bring back The Krypton Brainiac and hire Ray Porter as Darkseid

IMO Darkseid should be saved for the final season. I mean they can have New Gods characters maybe in later seasons and build up to him as a end all big bad. In that way they can do it differently and better than Smallville. Introduce Intergang in season 3 then the next couple seasons introduce New Genesis and Apokolips characters through the remainder of the series. At least I would like that. I made a post about my vision on the final season and the end of the Arrowverse.
I’ve been thinking about the Arrowverse and it’s future on the CW and I’m thinking and I could be wrong but I think the Arrowverse is over once S&L finish it’s run whenever that is. I’ve also been thinking about how I want the Arrowverse to end and S&L.

I want the final season of S&L to go up against Darkseid as a final threat and some of the New Gods characters. Now I’ve said on here and other forums that I’m a huge Smallville fan but having said that they completely dropped the ball with Darkseid.

I thought Darkseid was a fitting end all big bad for the final season but the execution was terrible.

So as far as S&L goes if they can keep up the quality for the rest of the series as they have with the first five episodes and hopefully the first season. I believe they can do the New Gods/Apokolips justice.

My hope is with it being the final season Warner Bros./HBO Max will give them a pretty good budget for the final season.

Now as far as a Ending to not only Superman and Lois but the Arrowverse as well I was thinking about a Criss level 5 part epic finale that keeps the focus on the Super Family since its their show but includes other Arrowverse characters from the past series.

I believe that Superman and Lois will be the last show standing on The CW maybe and that the other series have finished their runs by the time S&L hits its final season. So depending who’s still alive from when the other Arrowverse shows hit their end point that they really don’t need that much focus so as to keep the focus on Superman and his family.

The other Arrowverse characters will be there to help in what will be the Arrowverse’s biggest threat. But I have to admit once the ending is over I want those supporting characters to get their closure since this is the ending of not only a series but an entire universe.

that’s pretty much an idea I’ve been thinking of how Superman and Lois final season and the Arrowverse could conclude its run. Just My Opinion.
Bumping in case anybody wanted to read. I know it’s kinda long.

Besides Diggle and obviously Kara, who else from Supergirl and the rest of Arrowverse would have fit in Superman & Lois' world?

As Arrowverse characters go, If I would have looked how for example The Flash was in its first couple of seasons, and also Arrow, both Amell and Gustin would have been fine as guest stars in Superman&Lois. Now I dont think anything fits, I could accept a Superman apperance. But othervise they should keep the arrowverse stuff to a minimum.

Unless they would do some sort of "Superman of Two Worlds" thing with Brandon Routh.

Othervise dont do Arrowverse-stuff and preferebly move show to HBO MAX.

It depends on the tone and the story. I would rather they kept the show as is but there are plenty of ways to make it work if you want. Stargirl could have a fun dynamic with the Kent boys (and Pat with Clark) for example if those shows crossed over.

I kinda wish the rest of the Arrowverse shows would be on their way out and just move Superman & Lois to HBO, and start their own universe with new faces in the roles. I love Grant & Amell, but this show is superior to all the rest of them, IMO.

They really haven't said that S&L is part of the Arrowverse, have they? It would be nice to know lol.

I know Jon Cryer has fans of his version of Lex, but I still wouldn't mind a new face in that role too.

To the best of my recollection… Before episode 12, there were zero indications that S&L was connected to the prior (or current) Arrowverse continuity. But John Diggle’s appearance in ep. 12, by itself, would seem to confirm continuity. Additionally, he explicitly referenced certain Arrowverse events and characters.

I already forgot about his appearance. I guess it would be in-universe then.
