And nostalgia is an annoying kind of drug indeed.

That’s fair, but most people didn’t know that at the time. A lot of people thought he was going to show up and get a decent amount of screentime.I mean... Luke barely had a minute of screentime in the movie and it was at the very end. I wouldn't compare it to the extent Tobey and Andrew seem to have in NWH.
Either all the villains in one shot or all the heroes could totally bring the house down. If we get both then screens will melt.We need to see all the villains and get a classic shot showing all the villains standing together. It just I think is essential for this trailer to have
Not to mention Han, Chewie, and Leia were plastered all over the marketing, and they were in that film extensively.I mean... Luke barely had a minute of screentime in the movie and it was at the very end. I wouldn't compare it to the extent Tobey and Andrew seem to have in NWH.
They’re so hyped that I can’t even fathom to imagine their inevitable disappointment when the trailer is screened and Tobey and Andrew are nowhere to be seen. They might even boo at the trailer after it’s done being screened; chanting “We want Tobey and Andrew!”The fans are in formation!
None of that will happen lol. The trailer is going to still get more likes than dislikes. The villains and action will make enough people happy despite others being disappointed. They’re so hyped that I can’t even fathom to imagine their inevitable disappointment when the trailer is screened and Tobey and Andrew are nowhere to be seen. I wonder if a Maguire and Garfield-less trailer becomes one of the rare you tube videos that gets more dislikes than likes. Now I don’t think that will actually happen, but it is somewhat amusing to ponder how bad the hypothetical reaction to Sony not putting the Spider-Men in marketing would be.

Even if we don’t Cox, Garfield, and Maguire I think the trailer will still be good and generally well liked.
What if this isnt the final trailer though? What if we are still going to get a “tickets on sale now” trailer in a couple of weeks and THATS the one that shows them?
While I’m sure they will make money regardless if they don’t show Andrew and Tobey in this trailer, as others has said it would be a giant missed opportunity to not market this movie explicitly as a Spider-verse movie that see’s the return of previous cinematic versions of the character. If they show Tobey and Andrew in the trailer I guarantee you this movie wouldn’t just break the internet, it will break box office records.
That’s definitely wishful thinking on your part as I would think that the best way to reveal the Spider-Men would be through an event that was advertised as having “big surprises” that has Tobey and Andrew making surprise appearances to announce they’re in the movie. Not through a last minute trailer very shortly before the movie is released, but hey anything is possible. What if this isnt the final trailer though? Yeah, it's gone a bit far to still stick with the pretense at this point. Not sure what is gained from doing that when this is the best moment to let the hype explode. For Marvel to not promote Tobey and Andrew's involvement in this film is like the WWE not revealing in advance that the Rock and Stone Cold are coming back to participate in a wrestling match at Wrestlemania.
What makes this situation worse is that most fans are already aware of their involvement and it feels like they're insulting our intelligence when they claim otherwise.
If that’s really case, then that will be one of the rare times I side with Sony. Heck, I argue there’s more justification to show Andrew and Tobey Spider-Man in the second NWH trailer than there was to show Holland Spider-Man in the second Civil War trailer. They really didn’t need to show Spidey in the marketing for Civil War, but they did anyway because they know that was something that would boost the box office(and arguably it did). Which is why I’m baffled by this decision to not to show Maguire and Andrew in any of the marketing, not just from a fan perspective, but from a business perspective because one doesn’t need some fancy degree from Harvard Business school to know that putting Maguire and (to a lesser extent) Garfield in the marketing maximizes the box office potential of the movie far more than keeping them a secret. So even if the trailer is good and we all end up liking it despite it lacking Garfield, Maguire, and Cox I still think it would an objectively bad business decision to keep them under wraps.I agree, but the word is, that it's Feige's call basically, and he doesn't want to spoil that they're both in the film .
I think it's a pretty big mistake, and I question really question his judgement, though fans will likely just blame Sony for it .
But we'll have to wait and see what the trailer actually holds.
