Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness general news and discussion thread

pretty quiet...

So, with this and Spider-Man 3 filming for quite some time and we still don't know much about both projects, aside from both kinda dealing with the multiverse, I wonder if both movies are more connected story-wise than we think.

I have this feeling they are.
There will be a reason for Dr Strange to show up in next Spider-Man film.

EDIT: WandaVision could be linked to Multiverse too.

It sounds like Strange 2 will be a world away from the first film and they are going all out. I’m really glad as he’s one of my favourite characters.

a bit disappointed after that awesome presentation with informations for DS2...no new cast members announced besides America Chavez

I wish we got more info on this one also

normally I’d smile about such rumors...but after yesterday so much rumors being true, I take that without a grain of salt and board the hypetrain :spidey:

I'm eager to hear some villain news myself. I don't buy the rumors that it'll be Wanda.

I keep hearing rumours of Shuma-Gorath, but a while back it was also rumoured to be Nightmare. I could pucture either one manipulating Wanda into messing with reality. Looking at the trailer for WandaVision it's not hard to imagine that it's a result of Nightmare's manipulation as opposed to Wanda having just snapped.

Now we NEED Bruce Campbell onboard.
I wish for it so much!!!!!!!!!

It's a Raimi film with Spider-man in it. I'd be shocked if he didn't appear. lol

I’m starting to believe, that Evan Peters is the villain in this movie, possibly Nightmare or Mephisto. Since his appearance in WandaVision is still a mystery, that it probably the reason, Kevin Feige hasn’t announced the villain for DS2

First I thought he isn’t a big name to stand against to stars like Benedict Cumberbatch. But Jonathan Majors also is just a talent who hasn’t appeared in much and now he’ll be the villain in a movie with Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Michelle Pfeiffer and probably the F4.

But I don’t see him (Evan Peters) as a long term villain like Mephisto
I know a lot of people like him because of AMH, but he never stole the show in anything I’ve seen (KickAss, X-Men, AMH season 1-3)

Mephisto has to be a bigger name

I've gone with the assumption that it'll be Nightmare. That being said, with Wanda in the movie, Mephisto would make a ton of sense.

Does somebody know if Rachel McAdams will be playing Clea? I know she is listed as Mrs Palmer but this movie will have different dimensions, so it could be possible. What do you think?

I remember when the title was first announced Shuma-Gorath immediately popped into my mind. He fits perfectly the Lovecraftian vibes the title gives off.

If I'm not mistaken Nightmare has worked with him in the comics? Maybe we get both.

Yeah, he would be another logical choice.

I think she would be a fabulous Clea and definitely more suitable for her talents than the love interest role

I know that Fant4stic could be described as scary and mind bending.

With all this mind-bending talk surely the villain is Nightmare right?

What happens in WandaVision is usually believed to be the cause of Multiverse opening, which will be explored further in Doctor Strange 2 and Spider-Man 3.

There could be more things that could have lead to the future Multiverse stories in MCU
A posted this in another forum and try again to get this topic into discussion.

Thanos' first snap could be one of the crucial things for causing the ripples between the different universes. It was a tremendous outburst of energy that changed all of our own universe, killing 50%. The natural order of things was being "f**ked with in a really bad way.
After that, two more snaps happened. We can only guess how much damage it caused to the fabric of reality.
It's not only the snaps though.
Having the six infinity stones so close to each other could be bad as well. Each of them holds a great power and when these powers meet, something is bound to happen as a side effect. Even without a snap.
And they were next to each other three times

We can also look at the history of MCU.
The dark elves wanted to throw our universe back into darkness, waited for when the nine worlds (=realms) were in alignment, used the reality stone and came close to succeed with their plan.
This can be seen as something, along with other things, that slowly came to cause the cracks between the universes. Butterfly effect, you know.
And the realms in alignment occurence was by itself powerful enough to open rifts in the three dimensional reality, and transport Jane Foster to the location of reality stone

There's also the time in Doctor Strange when a direct portal was opened between our world and Dormammu's dark dimension and its energies. Our planet was in great danger because of that.
This was the first time such a thing happened, right? I mean a portal to the dark dimension.
I'm sure it affected our universe in a way, not just only because a big city was about to be destroyed.

What about the fall of Asgard?
Maybe the old kingdom, through its very existence, made sure there was order in creation, after all. It predates even Odin so it's very possible it was an actual divine place. Then Ragnarök happened...
Odin himself was so powerful he could hold the sadistic Hela at bay with his magic. When he died, she returned with all her dark influence and her vast powers into our universe.
What if she was sent away the first time because she just being present here would have a destructive effect on our reality? Perhaps portals between alternative universes have been open before, due to her?

There have been several deaths of powerful beings in MCU: Not only Odin but also Heimdall, who's actually possessed powers that not ordinary asgardians do.
There's also The Ancient One..... and Ego, a cestial/primordial being.
What if all of them were crucial to our universe. Now that they're all gone, their living energy is no longer with us and that could alter our reality.
Perhaps the upcoming Eternals film can dive into this theory? Do you think so?
Could Multiverse also be a part of Eternals main plot?

Important things from this post:

Infinity stones together
Three snaps, energies released
Realms in alignment, causing rifts in our reality's spacial dimensions
Reality stone activated - universe nearly back in darkness.
Portal to dark dimension, its energies start devouring a major city
Ragnarök/destruction of Asgard
Powerful beings dead
Fabric of reality
Butterfly effect

And if all of this aren't enough, there's Loki as well. He's is travelling through time with the tesseract (space stone) in his hands. He will meet different versions of himsel, and perhaps he's creating different realities. In one of them, he's running for president.
As we know, he's god of mischief and doesn't care about consequences.
He also possesses some magic of his own, so the space stone isn't all.
