Grayskull: Masters of the Universe - Part 2

The Classics biocards rank below pornographic fanfiction for me in terms of canonical value. ;)

I think Beast Man is a good enough name that it can be used in a movie. Mer Man maybe not, but there are options (a lot of hench-villains are only referred to by name once or twice in any movie anyway). We are unlikely going to see Moss Man in any MOTU movie, and Fisto can be given a regular name like Duncan's.

I could see it.

Me too. The truth is, I can even see it work with furry trousers, and purple pants and boots too, as long as it's Goyo in the role. There's a special element to him that would work so well in something like this. I can't find any suitable words to describe it, it just is.

Good suggestion.
It's hard to pick a Teela these days. It was easier ten years ago. The obvious choice back then (Lindsay Lohan) is not obvious anymore. And that's not just because of her age ;)

True. I guess they could do like the 2011-Thundercats series and give new names to, say, Beast-Man, Mer-Man, Moss-Man, Fisto, etc..., like TC did with Jackalman, Monkian, and Vultureman.

Wikipedia claims their real nams are:

Raqquill Rqazz (but I've read before that he's supposed to be the earthling Biff Beastman)
Squidish Rex
Kreann’ot N’Horosh
and
Malcolm

You need more than a young, spunky redhead for Teela.

You need someone with real fire and intensity. I don't quite see that in Jane Levy and certainly don't see it in Shailene Woodley (At least based on DIVERGENT, when her attempts at badassery were...unimpressive).

I'm thinking we need a European actress for Teela.

Agreed, though I have not yet had a chance to see either Jane Levy or Shailene Woodley in action, I'm sorry to say.

I think we may need a predominantly European cast in general for this film. I don't exactly see the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio and James Franco blending in with the Eternian scenery.

I see nothing wrong with the biocards. I mean, they are bio cards.

When discussing actors for the characters, Sean Bean as Randor and Viggo Mortensen as Man-At-Arms were mentioned. Some people liked the suggestions.
But could you imagine them switching roles?
There's only one rule: whatever Bean plays, the character has to die in the first film :woot:

Have you got some ideas for Skeletor, by the way?

Sean Bean as Man At Arm? Hmmmm ...

DUNCAN: My dear daughter, today I ride off into battle. But when I return, I will tell you the true nature of your parentage.

TEELA: Um, actually, why don't you tell me right now? Just in case.

DUNCAN: Ha ha, you are precocious, aren't you? Fear not, I shall vanquish the evil forces, and return unharmed to Castle Grayskull and tell you such a tale!

TEELA: Seriously. Tell me now. I reaaaally think you won't want to wait till later. Seriously. Dude. Seriously.

I only know Jane Levy from Evil Dead (and multiple "appreciation" threads both here and other forums), and from what I saw in that movie, intensity should not be a problem.

Frankly Levy should be MJ in Spider-Man and Teela. Not just because of the red hair but because I've seen her be versatile.

I read 'Frank' Levy and was.... concerned :D

Gosh, you're so funny :yay:

It's hard to believe Duncan will die that soon. He's a skilled and seasoned soldier who's seen pretty much everything. But if he actually dies, Sorceress is still there to tell the truth.

Unfortunately, the Sorceress is played by Gong Li (the female, Asian equivalent of Sean Bean).

TEELA: Before my dad was shot with 45 arrows, dropped out of a Wind Raider, beheaded and blown up with a grenade, he told me to come here and ask you who my parents were.

SORCERESS: Very well, my child. I will tell you all you want to know, as soon as I finish drinking this special elixir prepared for me by Prince Keldor of Gar.

TEELA: Goddamit, are you serious?!?!

Teela is supposed to be the future Sorceress. If both her parents die, then The council of elders have to tell her. Or Zodac.

You know, it would actually be nice to see that actually happen somewhere, anywhere, be it the ideal film adaptation we all see in our heads or some future animated series or even the comics.

Speaking of which, is it true Keith Giffen is off the MOTU book?

I would be there opening day. Is John Chu still attached?

No.

Oh please God make it happen, seriously we got like 4 transformer movies and only ultra lame He Man a billion years ago? With today's technology, Eternia would look so incredibly awesome

Why? Has Jeff Wadlow made a great movie yet? He would probably cast Lindy Booth as Teela.

I've met Jeff Wadlow and he's a nice guy. I think Never Back Down is a watchable OK movie, but I don't think he's got the knack for this type of material.

This movie has been through dozens of script drafts, writers and directors. I don't think this time is any different.
