Elder Scrolls V

I haven't really been surprised by a game for a long time. They've mostly turned out very much like I expected them to, which has made reading reviews less important to me. Not the case at all though with films for eg. A big part of that is probably that many of the games I am into are into their 45th sequel with proven gameplay mechanics and the range of possible scores is a bit tighter than with something completely original.

I played about an hour of this on PS4 last night and I'm loving it so far. The game definitely does look better, although I'm more used to Fallout 4's controls, so I might tweak those a bit, because L1 to sprint just doesn't feel right.

I haven't tried out the PC version, but I can for the life of me understand why some people are already complaining that it doesn't look as good as the mods they have in the original version. It's like comparing a seed to a tree. I'm sure it looks better than the original vanilla version, but I expect it to look and run even better with mods because it was upgraded from a 32-bit engine to 64 bit, with a max RAM usage going from 4GB to near infinite. If that's not an upgrade, then I don't know what is.

hey Spideyville, did you ever play Skyrim before on the PS3 or 360?

I'm curious if the Character Creator in the remaster has been improved a bit for the remaster. like better "textures" on the faces, etc.

What mods are available on day one? I was told mods were developed weeks before launch.

Yeah I've played it on PS3 and the character creator seems to be the same, in terms of options. Overall the models look the same, even though the textures overall in the environment have been improved. It pretty much looks the same only with better lighting and fully rendered for 1080p, as opposed to 720p.

I didn't think I would be interested but I am getting tempted in going through this all again.

thanks.

so the face models and textures look largely the same then?

I was hoping for some better texture.

oh well. guess I'll see for myself soon enough.

In terms of characters, yes. But the textures for the world are mostly improved.

hopefully, Sony will become more "accommodating" to Mods as time goes by.

so, I take it, once the Pro comes out, there will be some kind of patch released for Skyrim that will "unlock" the 4K/Pro features. yes?

So the game doesn't run at 60, but has plenty of the old problems it use to have...

What problems is it having?
Apparently it is still rather buggy. The way I am reading it, it is very much the same game, with a new coat of paint. Which is kind of if disappointing to me. I was hoping for some upgrade to performance. I guess not.

The fact the all the mods for the standard edition of Skyrim on PC aren't compatible doesn't really make using the SE worth it for PC users but this whole thing was really mainly for the console players and it's free for the PC players who already had it so...

Everything I've seen this far just screams cash grab. Sure it looks slightly better, but they didn't actually fix any ****ing thing. The arbitrary limits put on the console mods on both sides completely ruin any kind of real expansion that could come with that functionality.

The funny thing is between Arcane, Id, and Machine Games, Bethesda's in house studio is the worst developer they have at this point.

So will there be any mods on xb1 for quick level ups and automatically completing quests and automatically getting weapons/armor? I know it sounds lazy, but I don't feel like starting over and just want to continue from where I left off on the 360.

Hard to say it was a cash grab when it's free on PC, for those who already own it.

And know, they definitely made a lot of changes on console so that the game is actually playable this time around. That's a lot more than other remasters can say.

so, played a bit last night. I'm SO glad I'm able to play this game again, on a current gen system.

It's how I remembered the game but PRETTIER!! lol

and this is before the Pro enhancements! Can't wait to see it in 4K! :woot:

From what I've seen thus far, it still runs like ****. The only reason it's free on PC is there are existing mods that make the game looks better than the alleged remaster so to avoid another ****storm, they gave us the PC version for free.

So how much better does it look? I know it might be hard to quantify/describe but I have to ask anyway lol.

it looks much better than what I remember it looking like on the PS3 and 360.

and on the PS3, I remembered it look even worse because there was some weird "blur" texture that they applied to the characters which made the faces look fuzzy/blurry from a distance or something. It's hard to explain, but the PS3 version looked the worse.

The PS4 just blows all of that out of the water. The environment looks so much more lifelike and vibrant, without that "drabness" from the 360/PS3 versions. The character models look pretty much the same with slight visual upgrades.
