There was a lot of awful line deliveries from her in both FC and DOFP, the former more so than the latter, IMHO. I don’t buy this whole defense that people are only retroactively criticizing JLaw because of her bad turn as Raven in Apocalypse.

Well, good thing I wasn’t trying to sell you anything.

She's an awful Raven Darkholme and an even worse Mystique. ;)

I like her also in Apocalypse.
I think it's very unfair to criticize her when in other franchising we have female actress that are not worthy a single inch of her (Olsen...)
My problem is with the make-up (hair over all): she doesn't work in blue Mystique.

As cold blood blue Mystique, Rebecca works better visually.

That's nonsense. You can most certainly critique her in the context of the series, isolated from any other comparison. In fact, that is what most critiques are about.

Of course you can. But this thread is always all about "Disney is better".

Said that. I found her good also in Apocalypse. (and beautiful in the Kurt/Angel scene). Better than her in FC, but worse than DoFP

thats 2 months of reshoots, half a normal production. this is bigger than 'just fixing some scenes' lol.

of course, some users will now say that this is just the usual, and Fox is doing the right thing, blah blah blah :yay:

We're supposed to believe that that information is accurate?

Nope. The critique of her had nothing to do with Disney or Olsen. Btw, what a random comparison. Why Olsen? Why not Saldana or Karen Gillian as Nebula? Given that they are actually wearing make up.

whatever it takes to deffend Fox's lows

J-Law is crap in these films. She's never been convincing as Raven/Mystique.

I'm sure the studio believes it was so lucky to get her. But she's never had acting lessons and is just a Weinstein girl elevated beyond her talent. She's also a very typical millennial - self-absorbed, self-entitled, ungrateful, apathetic.

I'm bored by now of Xavier and Magneto as well but I doubt anyone thinks McAvoy and Fassbender are sleepwalking through the roles, they are giving it all they've got.

Are you believing in a little-known twitter user rumor?
a little strange, for those who always doubt the compliments that comes from well-known journalist.

People post Shawn Madden scoops here and he's not even verified on Twitter either.

Oh i remember a couple of reviews saying they were.

But then i also remember reviews for DOFP praising Jlaw performance.

I guess sometimes judging these things is in the eye of the beholder. (infact most things are)

Does it matter how good female actresses in other franchises are? A performance is the same regardless of what others are doing. DofP/X2/Deadpool/Logan don't become worse films because TDK exists and Catwoman doesn't become any better just because TASM2/Green Lantern/Punisher Warzone exist.

Agreed that Rebecca's Mystique worked much better visually as a "cold-blooded" Mystique.

JL is a top actress. Either they need to give Mystique a great script and material that take advantage of her talents fully, give her a different big role or maybe it just isn't a great fit. Unfortunately she doesn't really seem as motivated as she is when she's at her best in other films IMO. I would rather if they bring in the best actresses, they give them roles like Jean, Storm, Rogue etc rather than having to make Mystique artificially a much bigger player than she usually is.

I liked the voice they gave the original Mystique. I thought it made sense to have her sound like that in her original form since she could sound like anyone.

I'm seeing a pattern here, anything negative is probably true but anything remotely positive is just Hollywood talk. Lol

I think reshoots should last 3 or 4 weeks
8 weeks would be a very high cost, far more than the 10 million they expect to spend according to some sources.

People who wanted Amber Heard cast as Mystique/Raven should have been considered. Doesn't look like the consensus is in JLaw's favor. Pretty sure most are burned out by her revolving 15mins "it girl" status. She brings nothing to the movies, not even her celebrity.

Why are they bothering with all these reshoots? Just release it in November and be done with it.

Kinberg must have liked the story when he wrote it.

Kinberg must have liked the story when he directed it.

Presumably, no one else shouted out any concerns during the production and post-production process.

Everyone that saw early screenings (Fox employees and their families) must have liked the movie, the word was that it was 'good'.

And now, suddenly, after a test screening for the public, they are spending another $10 million?
