Makes more sense now if you already needed a new console and that it was a custom console which I didn't realise. It sounded like you got rid of your console to get a console bundle with a game you didn't want, so in effect just changing to another standard console exactly the same to have the right to return a game - which didn't make a whole lot of sense t:.

Yeah, I had a launch Ps4 pro and I was starting notice it aging with technical issues so since there was a new bundle coming out with a pro I figured I would just bite.

I don't think I'd want a console that I liked the look of if it was based on a game I had no interest in though. I'd need to both be into the game and like the look of the console.

That is a valid point, maybe I should keep the game and try it out but I’m just not really feelin it.

You should definitely try it out. It isnt every day that a game gets this sort of consistent high praise across the board. Many are calling it a masterpiece of storytelling and gameplay. Even non-gaming publications like Telegraph and Guardian have given the game a 100 on metacritic. And the game is still at 95 after 86 reviews.

Not even trying the game would be a shame.

You should do whatever's best for you. I don't really go for customs myself unless I'm at least partially a fan as owning a custom is like a statement that I like the underlying thing. Like buying a sport's team kit just because you like the look of it even if you dislike the team. Have you played GoW games before btw?

The only custom console I've ever really felt compelled to buy, in spite of not caring about the game, was the Gears of War Xbox One S bundle. That was one sexy system.

Yeah that one was great. I also bought the Star Wars XBox 360 which is probably my favourite and the Halo one, even though I wasn't as big a fan of Halo at the time.

I've never played any of the God of War games to date but I'm finding it difficult to ignore these reviews. Is there an issue jumping straight in with this one?

Doesn't seem to be. Its has a lot for those who know Kratos history, but the story seems really good at establish the character itself.

As one who has played them all:

God of War 2
God of War
God of War: Ghost of Sparta
God of War 3
God of War Ascension
God of War: Chains of Olympus

I really like the top 5. Chains has a really decent story, but the gameplay is pretty crap as it definitely feels like a handheld. I find Ascension to actually be really fun, with the best puzzles in the series. God of War 3 would be higher for me if it didn't seem to crawl to an ending after the garden.

On a side note. It still bugs me we never fought Apollo and Artemis. I waited forever for that. They should have been guarding the box.

The original God of War was the best to me and they progressively got worse with each entry. Hopefully this breaks that pattern for me.

The original was great for it's time, but it shows its age more than the other two and the Chronos and Hades sections fluctuate between being a chore and being infuriating.

It was the only game released outside the Sony platforms. The little story it has happens before GOW2.

One thing it doesn't mention, however, is that players should not neglect their "Luck" stat. Especially players that are playing on Hard difficulty. The Luck stat effects how often the player finds health orbs, hack silver (the game's currency), and xp gains.
