Ant-Man and the Wasp Spoilers Thread

Just finished my screening. It's interesting that Janet warns Scott to stay away from the time vortex inside the quantum realm (mid-credit scene). Something related to Avengers 4 perhaps?

I would assume that was why she mentioned it...

So they take one of the first Black heroes to have his own comic and turn him into a villain and then kill him off. It is because of stupid borderline unintentional racist crap like this why I have a disdain for Hollywood and why I hate halfhearted gestures of racebending minor or less popular c to z list white characters into Black (and other minority) characters. They racebend white characters that most people don't give a damn about or (if you're a non comic book reader) don't know anything about like Heimdell, Nick Fury,Valkyrie, and Hogun the Grim for the sake of diversity, but then they turn around and cast a white lady to play an Asian character and turn a Black hero into a villain. Because of this change to Bill Foster, I won't be paying to watch this movie.

that was all BS about Foster - so now you can go see the movie...

I really enjoyed it. Lots of fun and probably the funniest movie in the MCU yet. The villains are a bit weak but it's mostly about rescuing Janet and Hank, Hope and Scott on the run.

I had a feeling that was coming in the credits scene but I wasn't expecting it to be all 3

IMO I thought it was funnier than the first film, but I'd still put Ragnarok and both Guardians movies ahead of it if we're ranking the funniest MCU films.

Yeah, Guardians 2 had a lot of great humor. Honestly, I think I laughed the hardest in Infinity War but overall from start to finish, Ant-Man and the Wasp was really funny.

To each their own. I thought the humor in Vol 2 was much more juvenile than in the first one so not my cup of tea.

Something I just realized: Ant-Man and the Wasp is the first movie in the MCU since the first Guardians of the Galaxy not to feature any outside characters from other MCU franchises. Cap and the Avengers get mentioned, but that's it. (And yes, I'm counting the Grandmaster's appearance in the end credits of Guardians Vol. 2 here, sue me :o)

I like that it was so self-contained, even with how it ties in to Civil War and (briefly) Infinity War.

very fun entertaining movie. marvel really is in a groove right now.

had heart. had warm moments. had alot of humor (micheal pena is owning that role). and i thought the action scenes and the score to the scenes were fantastic. very unique and imaginative.

definitely better than the first one.

there are two end credit scenes - one mid credit and one at the end. the one at the end is a scene for laughs. the mid credit scene is the big one and where i think avengers 4 will start.

Based on what happened I don't think Scott knows who is Thanos until Stark rescues him from Quantium realm.

Besides needing medicine for Ghost if they knew more about New York, Scotland and Wakanda than Coulson's team did you would think they would have postponed the mission if possible.

Stark pulling Scott out? I was guessing Bill Foster or Ghost. Maybe Hawkeye seeing as he had no known enhanced powers to break the Sokovian Accords so perhaps his house arrest conditions should be similar or less than Scott's. I did miss my bet about either Hope or probably Janet bringing the complete original comics Avengers team to the screen in Avengers 4.

Really enjoyed it. Can’t decide on this or the first, way to close to tell. Rewatching the original now to figure this shizz out!

I just watched the first on Monday and I still can't decide. Guess I have to see this one again :cwink:

My theater went bananas during that end credit scene. Kind of thing that makes going to a Thurs night preview worthwhile!

Is the Partridge Family theme song stuck in anyone else's head after seeing this?

Mine's groaned during the mid credit as the ashes drifted, a 12.5% chance and they lost.

I really enjoyed it. Luis has to be the best non hero sidekick in the MCU.

8.5 very fun movie. Hope to see Ghost again she didn't really feel like a villain.

Janet should get more time in the next movie.

Mind did too a bunch of "oh nos" and "what" way more than Fury credit dusting.

So I was thinking maybe Scott will get to the time vortex in A4 and ends up in the battle of new york or somewhere close to that time, but he didn't know anything about thanos yet, so how is it going to help the avengers to defeat him?

He might do what Janet did with him and plant an antenna. Perhaps the canister he was holding will be used too.

As a person who found the first AM movie to be "meh" or "fine", I didn't expect much from this one.

It's freaking fantastic. Hilarious throughout. I felt like I never stopped laughing. I heard praise for Michael Pena in the first one, but never thought he was THAT funny. But here? Good lord....he had me laughing out loud several times.

Every character works. Male and female characters all get to shine without the stink of politics. (that's how you do it Kathleen Kennedy)

Really good action too. Moves at a nice pace so you are never bored. One of my favorite Stan Lee cameos too. I think I stifled laughter for 5 minutes after his line.

Several "villains". Some of them are funny too. (an FBI agent cracked me up a lot) But Hannah John-Kamen as "Ghost" was more serious. She has these amazing eyes that are spooky and beautiful at the same time. It works to great effect for her character. Ghost is a very effective villain with actual motivation. Hope to see more of her.

Michelle Pfeiffer and Michael Douglas get substantial roles and Pfeiffer is almost regally beautiful at this point.

9/10

Really enjoyed this. No it's not Infinity War, nor Black Panther. This was a nice breather between these monumental epic films. There's some good humor, the action is good, probably the textbook definition of a "popcorn movie". I enjoyed this one even more than the first Ant-Man. My 3rd favorite film this summer after Infinity War and the Incredibles 2.

8.5/10

Who is Janet becoming? Is there some character from the comics she's beginning to resemble with her new Quantum powers? Or is this all new territory?

And why the **** did they kill Hope? Missed opportunity to see the original Avengers lineup on screen.

Everyone will be back by act 3 of A4 so they will get some shot. I am excited to see how Scott will get out of this alone. He has always relied on his team to help him and he knows he isn't the smartest guy. This will be good for him.

So, I just got out of seeing this. I thought this was a much better movie than the last one. Last one felt like it lagged in large parts whilst this one felt breezy in comparison. It's still a very middle of the road Marvel movie, and seemed to go too far out of its way to explain what happen to Ant Man after the events of Civil War to often, but it was at least enjoyable enough to sit through.

What was weird to me was that this felt neither like an Ant Man or a Wasp movie, this felt more like a Hank Pym film. As for the villain, it wasn't like I was expecting much from Ghost but it was a nice change of pace to have a villain do something that wasn't for either money or power, it just feels like this was the wrong type of movie for that type of bad guy.

I'd give it a 7/10.
