Justice League Henry Cavill IS Clark Kent/Superman - - - - - - - - - - Part 19

With time I've warmed to Henry as Superman when initially I felt he was wooden. I'd really like to see him continue to appear in other DC properties and from there, they might be able to create organically a worthy sequel to MoS.

But as things stand I'm not sure where the character can go beyond the Injustice route which I'm....so so on seeing.

At the end of the day 3 films is a good haul for Henry as Superman when you see that Bale played Batman 3 times. I'd like to see Henry get more respect in the role and hopefully the SC will give him that.

A continuation arc for Cavill (at this point) on a singular, stand-alone film would be an adaption for Superman : Unbound, that way you can have Brainiac (well overdue) and you get Supergirl (who would be introduced by then).

I fully support Cavill jumping ship to Marvel (if the rumors are true). WB never really appreciated him.

Henry Cavill as Hyperion. Make it happen!!!

That clickbait website Small Screen UK and Edward Lauder probably. And probably Mario-Francisco Robles.

Mario is a good friend of mine and I don’t appreciate you dragging his name. He’s a great guy and his time in the scooping game he actually got a lot of s*** right but would sometimes be let down by his sources which is the same for most scoopers.

Click bait sites are a different issue.

There have been varying levels of those rumors for like four years, and they've amounted to nothing.

Let's Talk Superman, And The 'Aquaman Effect' - Revenge of The Fans

Henry's situation since Josstice League was stuck in an oddly weird situation from a studio and character standpoint. Wonder Woman was in good hands with Patty during the studio crisis. Aquaman was in good hands with the studio after the crisis. When it was announced that Henry was out in 2018, Dany urged that WB was mapping the future pieces to its DC universe. There's a pic of Henry and Rock sitting at a table having some scotch. This was the next plan for Superman. Black Adam and Shazam are still in the unknown stages of production, but will heat up soon. The Shazam Universe is the most likely scenerio where Henry can be involved in. Plus, the Snyder Cut still needs to be seen. There's still meat on the HC bone that can still hear about givin that there are properties still in play that he has been rumored to be involved in. It's not over until the fat Kryptonian sings for H-Cavs.

Better start sharpening those horns blacksuit.
Blacksuit Tra-el is Abrahams's black Superman!!!!!!:wow::eek::gngl:

Hah! Once I get back on my workout, lose this covid 19 bloat and get my chisel back, look out :D

I'm with you though, man. I'm one of those fans that when I really love something, if I go down, I go down swinging. Simple as that. In all truthfulness, I'm also with @MbJ in that if ZSJL is Henry's last, I'd be satisfied with that, givin how incredible it is that we ended up getting ZSJL. I just want to see Henry cape up in any role as Superman one more time in any capacity. That would give us even more closure.

I still suspect we'll see Henry's Superman make a guest appearance somewhere scheduling conflicts not withstanding. The time for Henry's next solo has passed. The last shot was probably McQuarrie and that went nowhere through no fault of their own. His only other shot was probably Abrams. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. But I just don't see it happening.

I don't either at this point, unless they are really going gangbangers with the Multiverse. When talking #HenryCavillSuperman, I am wanting a Supeman v Rock showdown and will be more than happy with supporting roles in Supergirl, Flashpoint, Shazam, etc.

Superman and Lois was absolutely wonderful in having Clark be in that fatherly figure role. It felt so human and genuine. Apply that to Cavill's role in the DCEU with upcommers and I think that would easily work and payoff.

I honestly think if they let Cavill be a bit more Cavillish as Superman I'd be good.

As it is, with what he had he was serviceable and I'm certainly not going to get my jeebers in a knot if he doesn't reprise... *shrugs*

We have the new Superman and Lois TV show, a potential Henry Cavill guest appearance sometime in the future, and a new reboot that is possibly Calvin Ellis. These are all worthwhile endeavors that I appreciate.

Superman and Lois was, IMO, flawless. The premiere felt like it was 10 minutes long. The show flew by and during commercials, I sat there in high anticipation. My wife got hooked as well. If the rest of this first season is in the quality of the pilot, S&L will stand on its own...in a welcomed way.

Hundreds of movies are made every year, covering every subject matter. At a time when the superhero movie genre is at a level of popularity never seen before, I can’t believe that they find it so difficult to get a solo Superman movie out the door - a character with decades of comic backstories to pick from.

I can, and its the movie-making equivalent of PIBKAC.

Cavill would get more respect if he was a good actor. But he’s not. Superman needs a more dynamic actor who doesn’t come off like he’s reading from a cue card. He was hired because he looks the part and is humble. He doesn’t really have any talent as far as I’ve seen.

Me too mate, I personally think Henry deserves better. He’s a brilliant Superman and any chance to see more of him beyond ZSJL is a bonus.

Imagine passing on McQuarrie in favor of JJ and some dude that's never written a script

WB gonna WB

Nothing shocking about that. As much as he's an internet punching bag, Abrams has a track record of proven successes and that was exactly the thing that was gonna get WB to shell out more money after the many problems they've had with the franchise. Much like how it's not surprising they apparently offered it to Gunn when DC was trying to get him to go work some of the GOTG magic on their films.

I've seen him in the Tudors. Dude, got lots of charm and charisma in his role as the friend of Henry VIII. When he was initially announced as Superman. I myself thought the choice was an excellent pick. Now, not so much.

Im not even sure that Marvel wants Cavill. His body language in Mission Impossible 6 was not much different then Superman for me. And for my taste he is too bulky already.

If he gets the rumored role for Captain Britain... Is there a chance we see him blond? :gngl::D

Nah, there's plenty of us who think he sucks both as an actor and as Superman. Which is not to say everyone who dislikes Snyder films dislikes Henry, because that's not true either. I do believe plenty of "Snyder haters" still think Henry could've been good with different material. But there's also a substantial contingent who think it can't all be blamed on the material, that his performances are wooden, and that he just doesn't have "it."

Even I dont think Henry's an amazing actor or something, but this is the first time I'm hearing someone say they think he's not a good casting as Superman. When I said everyone, obviously it was hyperbole, you will always have those that dont like him, even someone as popular as Gal has "haters". I think if Gal and Jason can be WW and Aquaman, I think Henry's got enough charm as Superman as well. He sure has a huge fanbase rn. I think you will agree if I say that the general consensus is he is good casting as Superman. But that's what I've seen over the internet, if not, agree to disagree

He’s got a loud fan base right now, I won’t deny that. But I’ve found most “casuals” to be completely indifferent to him and I’ve seen plenty of people online over the years who agree he’s utterly charmless and wooden (including the vast majority of critics, who are also a sampling of people/moviegoers), so as you say, agree to disagree.

If casual moviegoing audiences were more enthusiastic about Henry Cavill, the Superman franchise might not be in this situation it currently finds itself in. Flickchick makes a valid point.

Couldn't we say the same for Batfleck? And WW was in 1 well received movie and in 2 movies not well-received. I think this is reductive reasoning being put forth.

He's not the best of actors, but neither are Gal or Jason, and I would have the same reaction if they were recast. Sure there are people who dont like him(there's haters for everything, even the most popular things), I mostly see positive things for Henry Cavill, and post Witcher I've just seen that explode, particularly from the female community. This potential recast news I'm seeing is being met with extreme negative reaction over the internet, and I'm seeing it come from non-dc fans as well which is surprising, because I never knew so many people were this passionate about him. We'll see what happens. I think its a huge missed opportunity and another L for WB.

And Henry Cavill(not his Superman)...charmless and wooden? We are definitely not talking about the same person lol

I liked Cavill in Fallout, Man from UNCLE, and the Witcher. Heck even Enola Holmes.

Maybe it's the directing?

He's spent most of his time as Superman being some super serious, depressed guy. He's never really had the opportunity to play the more charming aspects of Clark/Superman. Is he the best actor? lol NO but its Superman, I feel like he gets the job done well enough.
