Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness general news and discussion thread

Also, as much flack as Mobius got for its awful post credit scenes this deserves just as much flack IMO. Those were easily some of the worst post credit scenes for a MCU film in a while.

I read the second post credit scene was atrocious beforehand and me, my partner and my friend all walked out after the first one as I told them it's not worth it.

Everyone else sat there looking at us like "don't these know this is a Marvel film?"

10 mins later my friend got a text from one of his pals who was seeing the film elsewhere simultaneously. His words were "what a waste if time". My friend thanked me for warning him and walking out early :funny:

Yeah, I’m glad I knew in advance how rubbish it was going to be. That’s the first time I’ve walked out of a MCU film without watching every credit scene. Feels wrong to make the audience waste their time for that. If that happens a few more times people might start not bothering.

I... look, I don't mind people having different opinions and it's perfectly fine that you didn't enjoy it but jesus, you're acting like this movie ran over your dog or something with this level of hyperbole. Not to mention you're clearly projecting your negative bias onto how everyone who wants to see the movie will feel about it as if it's an inevitability.

Calm down a bit.
Thank you!

Also, seeing this film just made me realize how much I wish Raimi had directed the first Doctor Strange. I found the first movie to be just okay, and this to be way more enjoyable. I don't get where the first one was really all that special in terms of style either. Doctor Strange is supposed to be visually trippy and intense, but aside from 2 or 3 scenes in the first movie, nothing stood out to me. Multiverse of Madness fixes that big time.

I thought the first Dr. Strange was better but that's not saying much. I honestly wouldn't mind another director take a crack at the next one.

This character is nowhere close to having reached his full cinematic potential.

People genuinely hated
the Bruce Campbell post-credits scene? Huh? Why?

Yeah, it was a gag, but I found it a cute nod to Evil Dead. Calling that one of the worst MCU credits scenes seems unbearably hyperbolic and speaks more of your expectations than anything.

I will say the Clea scene was clunky though.

My audience was laughing at it.

I was grinning from ear to ear with both Bruce Campbell scenes. The nod to Evil Dead II was the cherry on top for me!

How did your guys' audience react to
Kransinski Reed Richards?
Mine went wild. I hope he ends up trending this weekend.

Mine got the loudest ovation of the movie.

2nd biggest applause after the Professor. They want their Fantastic 4 in the mcu.

I enjoyed the first film as much as other people but let's be honest,it was Iron Man 1 with Dr Strange. And I disagree that they done Strange dirty, he's arc is first and upfront. It's his movie with Wanda as a villain because she's the villain in this.

Strange's progression as a character is evident. I felt he was finally at peace and happy with himself. I had no problem with how he was handled in this film. I'm even more excited for his next appearance given how this film ended.

Your Spidey analogy doesn't apply here because DR Strange was not the main villain of NWH. Simple. Heck it's Strange who saves the multiverse in MHW. You upset about that too? Coz it was HIS SPELL that SAVED THE DAY if you really wanna start talking about all this.

Were you also upset that Iron Man had as much screen time in CW?? Coz that was a Captain America film.

I enjoyed the film quite a bit. Flaws and all. Definitely looks like there's a lot left on the cutting room floor. There's a lot of things that can be seen as flaws but Strange as a character? I disagree.

Thank you

Uhm DS1 is reviewed much higher than MOM. I thought DS1 was enjoyable nothing amazing but clearly critics know better. MOM is not reviewed as well for a reason.

And let's be honest. Villain or hero is irrelevant. If Strange had as much screentime and focus as Spidy in NWH or Wanda in WV and was this OP some of y'all would be pissed. Some people can be such hypocrites. That's why I said same energy. Because too often people behave one way in one instance then contradict themselves in another. I remember when Feige said they didn't want to add Strange in WV to not take away from Wanda and the people rightfully defending that are fine when the roles reverse.

And this is aimed at Arachnard or whatever his nickname was. I never attacked or bullied anyone. I shared my very negative opinion of this film. So please stop making it personal or attempt at bullying. Either discuss my film criticism or don't reply. I was very calm when i critisized the film. You don't see me attacking/bullying someone for praising a movie like a massive fanboy. To each their own.

What are you talking about?

I simply stated that I found your opinions on the movie extremely hyperbolic and for you to not to take the movie so seriously and that was basically it. That was not me replying to you with the intent of bullying or demeaning you so I have no clue why you chose to read my post that way. There was nothing personal or vindictive about it.

It's perfectly fine if you dislike the movie and I don't intend to persuade you otherwise. But you might want to think back before throwing such a wild accusation.

Just came back! That was a lot of fun. Not top tier Marvel but a great exercise in "let's see what Sam Raimi does with this". Not a horror movie but definitely lots of horror elements which elevated many scenes.
I didn't know many of the surprises and I'm glad I wasn't spoiled!
The 3D added a lot too, so if anyone wants to repeat I highly recommend it.

IMHO, the worst credit scene ever was the one for Eternals with BLADE offscreen like that's supposed to be important and mean something to the audience.

It goes against the spirit of these post-credits scenes that began with Samuel L. Jackson in Iron Man introducing himself as Nick Fury.

Marvel has been dropping the ball with the post credits scenes lately haven't they. I’m trying to remember the last truly exciting end credits sequence. I guess FFH’s was pretty gamechanging. But man i miss the phase 1 days where every credits scene was teasing the next film and building to something.

That's the thing, right? We knew the films were leading up to something. Now there really isn't anything concrete in sight to get excited about.

I liked Raimi's style in this, he's a talented director, but I would much rather have Derrickson back helming a Strange 3. You didn't get thing's like The Ancient One's final conversation with Strange in this film.

No, critics do not know better. Their opinion is as relevant as mine or yours, especially with a series like Marvel that has so much love from the general audience already.

Yes. The stones, Thanos. We have nothing like that yet.

Also I am sure we all have movies that we like that was critically panned by the critics.
