Superhero Cinematic Civil War - Part 58

At least should have been added different days. Like make one on Wednesdays and the other Fridays

See, it didn't detract from the Ms. Marvel hype for me
I was happy to have two shows to watch each night, as opposed to my fun being over after 40 minutes

Y'all remember the days of like TGIF and Must See TV, right?
It's possible to look forward to more than one show at a time

but yeah, I'm sure a Weds/Fri schedule will be the move going forward if there's ever two series at the same time again

I watched both Obi-Wan and Ms. Marvel on the days that they dropped at the same time, but fans like us aren't the ones that Disney needed to attract. It's not really surprising that Ms. Marvel, a show featuring a relatively new character from the comics without any big name stars, got overshadowed by a highly anticipated show featuring one of the most popular Star Wars characters dropping at the same time for the first half of its season. It's also a bit of a different beast than the Must See TV and TGIF days of old Disney treats their original streaming shows as events, at least when it comes to Star Wars and Marvel, so when they're released at the same time one can expectedly cannibalize the other.

It's a level of cognitive dissonance, that makes you wonder how much damage that college football career and the chairshots in the WWE did to him.

Don't forget the steroids.

Out of morbid curiosity I checked the #Batmangate hashtag and boy are there a lot of stupid people in the world.

Coming back from my vacation, that is exactly the kind of nonsense I missed along with Disney+ possibly getting into the anime game. So much salt.

Starting a conspiracy theory they're not giving the JLA anything substantial in the trailers because of The Rock's ego. :o

Is it a conspiracy if its true?

I feel like they've been way better about the marketing for She-Hulk than Ms. Marvel. Of course, it also helps that there's no Obi-Wan Kenobi show streaming at the same time to take the attention away from She-Hulk like it did for Ms. Marvel. That was an oddball move on Disney's part. They could and should have delayed Ms. Marvel by a couple of weeks to premiere a week after the Obi-Wan finale.

I think it helps that She-hulk has more show as well to draw from for the commercials. So you see a variety, rather that the same shot over and over and over and over....

Seems some fans are freaking out over that She Hulk writer's comments about a "lighter toned" Daredevil. Eh, I'm not worried. I think they will treat Murdock with respect and he will definitely feel lighter than the Netflix series but he's not going to be snarky and quippy like a lot of the other MCU characters. I dont think Cox would agree to play him that way. i think Matt's going to FEEL like a more relaxed, happier version of the character from the last time we saw him but he'll still have that serious edge to him.

After Hawkeye and D'Onofrio fans are right to be worried.

And those fans are as bad as Snyder fans. Hell, even the various Bat fans.

If I remember season 3 correctly, Matt was in a position to be a bit happier.

Don't forget ripping a car door off.
Funny that you are using a moment that looked utterly ridiculous as a pro to showcase, what really? How strong and badass they made him? They took a gritty and grounded version of a beloved iteration and turned him into a bozo cartoon. You can advocate all you want about how comic accurate the door rip or the cheesy shirts that came out of nowhere were, but the reality is for a supposed continuation of the character that was introduced in the Netflix series he was almost nothing alike. Plus he fought the likes of Bullseye and Daredevil and put up a hell of a fight, while losing relatively easy by a kid who had almost zero fighting experience, even with his newly found super strength.

That's the issue with the prospect of marvelizing the characters of the Netflix shows. It has nothing to do with making them look "happier". But it has everything to do with tone and/or character inconsistency. They were loved for being depicted in a specific way. Not everything has to be the usual MCU fare.

That being said I don't have much of a problem with a lighter Daredevil in She-Hulk. The whole show is supposed to be a comedy so he would probably fit better with what they're trying to do there. I will, however, have a major issue if they tone him down significantly in Echo or his own show.

D’Onofrio Kingpin fought a young lady who is less than half his size and threw her across a room repeatedly in Hawkeye. I don’t think he’s lost his edge.

Some fans are reaching.

I saw no issues with his portrayal in Hawkeye. The She-Hulk writer just means the show is a comedy, so Daredevil will naturally be interacting with a lighter part of the world. Which will maybe be funny

My problem with Kingpin in Hawkeye was that we’re introduced to him in the final episode and he’s dispatched so quickly. I thought they were gonna kind of establish Kingpin as this big bad boogieman who’s going to hover over the street corner of the marvel universe —and that still very well may happen — but then he’s beaten so quickly i just felt disappointed that that was how they how chose to reintroduce him.

I demand a Nightwing in Harley Quinn scenario, please. :o

Mark Ruffalo be looking rough... Slowly turning into Jeff Garlin.

He is clearly going to be a presence moving forward. Given we know he is in both Echo and Daredevil Born Again

Yeah, put me down as another person who hated the way they handled Kingpin in Hawkeye. But I didn’t really like anything about that show. She-Hulk looks like it’s going to be better, IMO. I’m still a little iffy on Daredevil wearing the gold suit (just… why?) but that’s about it.

Very nice of ezra to apologize after the countless incidents, but I think we are now far beyond the point of that kind of thing. Hope it all works out, but miller’s days as the flash need to be over after this.

So, for those interested, classic super hero movie Return of Swamp Thing will be playing in theaters again Thur thanks to Rifftrax. Go see it.

Also, taking bets on whether the new Dragon Ball movie is going to make more than TSS?

Not necessarily, if the person like The Rock wasn’t such a narcissist. I haven’t been a fan since 10 Wrestlemanias ago, he’s gotten too full of himself.

he’s full of himself…. So that’s why his popularity is supposedly going down? Cause he’s full of himself?

There was nothing grounded about the guy who wears a bulletproof suit and uses his barehands, when if he just walked around with a gun, he'd have a far higher win percentage. He was on a show with a blind lawyer with superpowers, who hung out with a super strong woman, a bulletproof man, a woman who was resurrected, and man with a glowing fist.

The year is 2022. His record of homophobic and transphobic insults don't look so good now. Something he refuses to apologize for, or even acknowledge. Nor does his support for people like Joe Rogan, who only after he realized he was racist, did he decide to no longer defend him. He seemed fine with him being an anti-vax conspiracy nut and transphobic trash bag.
