Eternals Gospel music - who should compose the score for the Eternals?

Chloe Zhao has worked with peter golub before. That would be interesting. He did the music for the great debaters. He doesn’t see, to have many epic, action oriented scores on his resume but maybe it’s good to make it as small and as much of a character piece as possible

The techno sound of the Sakkar stuff in THOR RAGNAROK would work great for these "Space Gods".

Although a lot of people seem to be doing that since Thor. I remember they did it in Aquaman and although I loved the movie I wasn’t 100% sure it fitted the themes

Techno futurist scores were being done long before TR and will be done long after IMO.

I actually think the AM score fit the dayglow aesthetic of Atlantis and the undersea world Wan was playing around with.

Given the imagery this film has to draw on though:

I would definitely go with something along the lines of TR's score by Mothersbaugh or the Tron Legacy soundtrack.

While I know that given the subject matter most of us have a sense of the sound of this movie being sort or awe inspiring and "cosmic". I think that fits, sure.

But...

Why not go off the beaten path a little bit with something less orchestral and maybe dip a toe into things inspired by Electro/EDM etc.?

I think the likes of DJ Shadow, Mike D. (of Beastie Boys fame) or Tom Morello might make for a very interesting sound, something very evocative of sci fi but with soul and rhythm as well.









Hell... Give Beck a shot too.

Perhaps too out there for Marvel Studios but the sensibilities of the duo Zombie Zombie would make for a most excellent companion to the inherent strangeness of the Eternals.

PS... If anyone hasn't yet seen Altered Carbon get on it. It's amazing and the next season has Anthony Mackie as taking over as the body of the main character.

Uh... Yeah. It's a future noir. Besides it actually has a ton of humor but it's a story with serious themes about the nature of humanity and identity in a world where bodies are interchangeable.

You do know before the MCU people didn't need an obvious joke that both your parents and the average nine year old could laugh at every five minutes to enjoy something right?

Things can be entertaining nay "fun" when they are taken seriously BECAUSE of that, not in spite of it.

Well, your loss for missing out on one of the best sci fi series of the last decade.

I’ve been thinking a lot since Jolie was cast. Wouldn’t it be fun if they had music from different religions to inspire the scores? Like Islamic chanting, Buddhist bells, even gospel maybe. I mean, imagine how cool it would be if there was a score like this when the Celestials start marching around and showing off their epicness

I think it depends. Some directors have big ideas about how music will play into their film or have composers they have long working relationships with.

Others consult with the studio and producers long before filming about the score. Others... Not so much or they may feel that once it is starting to come together in editing that's when they will start to think about the music.

Zhao doesn't have a huge history to draw on though.

I do hope the sound is fitting and memorable and not just going through the motions.

He better stick the Iron Man theme in there even if it's not even remotely appropriate to make up for Marvel not hiring him for all the other Iron Man movies. His was the best and most iconic Iron Man theme that everyone remembers.
