I think the problem with Affleck is that he entered the role in his 40s. Unlike Bale, who seems to be a really committed actor to whatever role he happens to be doing - going to the extent of starving himself, etc - or a young actor who is trying to make a name for himself and prove himself, Affleck was already established and doesn't seem to have that same hunger.

I hope he stays in the role as I think he's a great Bruce Wayne and Batman. And the constant "will he?/won't he?" in the media is infuriating. With that said, his attitude seems to be very much that he can take it or leave it so it wouldn't be a massive surprise if he exits in the near future.

That's a result of the reshoots. Affleck was not in shape when he shot those scenes. I think he'd gained a few pounds and also had had some Botox injections too?

That honestly wouldn't surprise me, his face looked noticeably different.
