I grew up watching the 80s show, so that doesn't apply to me really. I was prob mostly a Transformers kid as far as 80s cartoons go, but I watched a fair amount of the big 4 of He-Man, GI Joe, Thundercats, and Transformers. Before moving on to Batman and X-Men and Power Rangers later on.
But yeah, as someone who did watch the show, I enjoyed it. But I can see TLJ comparisons. For the record, I also liked TLJ and I don't shy away from that opinion
Well , it's not going to apply to everyone to be sure, and there's always acceptations.
But generally speaking, the divide is between alot of the OJ Generation X fans and alot of people coming to this for the first time.
But again, that happens with in fandom every new iteration of a given property. It's not right or wrong, it just is.
Fans coming to a property ,with fresh eyes, will not have the same aversions to change or different interpretations then those who were attached to a previous iteration.
That's been the case with different versions of Batman, Superman, Spiderman , and certainly with Star Trek and Star Wars etc, with regards to fandom.
So the He-Man divide isn't that unusual to me , putting aside the alt right and political discourse around it.
I don't have the same attachment to He-Man that alot of people of my generation who grew up with it when it was new, have.
So I don't have an emotional connection with the MOTU .
So, for me , it really does depend on what the pilot delivers, and for me , it didn't really capture my interest that much.
At the very least, it didn't deliver enough for me to want finish part one. But that's me.
So I don't have the fan investment of being one side, or the other ,on the debate over the series.
I can only go by my own reaction to the show.
And my reaction was ,Meh.
