NBA 2020-2021 THREAD

Kings have focus on Ben Simmons, can offer Sixers De'Aaron Fox, others

from the article:
“ it’s then a matter of figuring out what the Sixers think of Kings point guard De’Aaron Fox and the various other pieces that could help them match those massive salaries ($67.5 million combined this season between Simmons and Harris). The deal could be done by adding sharpshooter Buddy Hield ($22.7 million) and veteran wingman Harrison Barnes ($20.2 million), but Philly would surely push for more.”

Harrison Barnes, Buddy Hield and De’Arron Fox for Simmons and Tobias Harris? If I’m Philly, I’m all over that deal. I would take Fox straight up over Simmons. He’s Lonzo Ball with a slightly stronger upside. Fox is a slightly less impressive Ja Morant. I know which clone I’d take.
If the Kings make that deal and trade Fox for Simmons, they'll deserve everything they get; and it won't be much.

No joke. A lightning quick point guard who can score and makes good decisions. Vs a less athletic passer who is afraid to even take a layup and has a history of being a cancerous headcase. Then throw in a salary dump for a great shooter and a solid player in Barnes?

What’s the decision to be made here again?

Harden is supposedly going to explore free agency after this season and some of the reasons are taxes and the weather lololol

In NY we believe its the Kyriw situation and the fact no matter what the Nets do The Knicks dominate the basketball scene they will always be looked at as the new jersey nets

A little childish sure but this is sports Fandom most of the time

when do the all star teams get announced or did i miss it?

i really hope they bring back All Star weekend to its former greatness. it used to be one of my favorite weekends of the year

The Clippers are in the same situation in LA. It's just flat out a Laker town and it doesn't matter who's winning or losing. Same with the Angels in MLB. They've had their own stadium for quite some time and have a lot of fans, but they'll never rival the Dodgers for popularity in SoCal.

Didn't the Clippers used to be the Buffalo Braves???? That would have been worse for them. LOL.

People close to Kyrie Irving say he views His NBA spot as a 9 - 5. Yeah the rest of us are like and water is Wet

Durant hitching his prime years to that guy was a huge mis-step again and the sky is Blue

To hell with all of them LETS GO KNICKS lol

There's another owner who should be shown the door. He's done nothing, but hold back the Knicks.

I heard that. Randle for Fox trade could be in the works. I think that would benefit the Knicks greatly.

James Dolan is without a shadow of a doubt one of the worst owners in sports that being said I would also ban a fan if he tells me to sell my own team lol

Even if the fan was right? lol

James Dolan went out of his way to disrespect Charles Oakley. James Dolan is a madman.

Seriously, who does that? Personally, I have nightmares about Charles Oakley. He’s one of the top 2-3 most terrifying men alive.

Yeah. You didn’t see a lot of NBA players really wanting to throw down with Charles Oakley. People were flat out afraid of him and I don’t blame them one bit.

I am definitely not one of those “the old days were better” type of guys, but I will say that I have been to 2 NBA games in my life. And I went 28 years apart. The difference could not be more outstanding.
Back in 1991, when I was in high school, my dad had to travel to Atlanta for work. He let me tag along and we went to the old Omni and watched the Celtics play the Hawks. We got there an hour before the game and it was just us there. And Larry Bird was out shooting baskets warming up. Then at the game, I was really surprised by just how physical the style of play was. I watched Moses Malone throw Kevin McHale across the lane by his jersey. Robert Parish was pushing Dominique Wilkins around in an attempt to slow him down. Even with the human highlight film out there, the game was much more of a brawl then I would ever have imagined and there wasn’t a lot of gracefulness on display.
Then fast forward a couple of years ago and my wife and I celebrated the end of my oldest son’s freshman basketball season by taking our sons to a Pacers/Thunder game. We got there an hour early and the arena was already 35% full. Paul George and Russell Westbrook were putting on full workouts. Then during the game, it was all flash and high flying. Whereas my previous experience was marked by being amazed at how physical the players were, I now found myself amazed by how athletic they were. I appreciate both eras for what they are. It is really hard to compare.

That said, I don’t see anyone today really being able to hold themselves against the likes of Oakley or Mahorn. Those guys would put such a hurt on Grayson Allen that his girlfriend would feel it.

Oak was one of my favorites he pulled Barkley punk card a few times

Osk was on Rich Eisen saying Dolan threw him out for no reason but national media never said but new york radio being the beautiful toxic place that it is people who attended the game said Oak was basically calling him a Vagina but not in those terms lolol

Saw the game and I was mad they took him out the game lol

Klay is starting to get into form can't wait until Green comes back and they start crapping on teams

Bucks beating the breaks off the Lakers

Its sad AF the defensive effort by the Lakers no bueno against the bucks those guys play hard

What is happening to the Lakers is heartbreaking. I feel bad for Westbrook. I really generally like the guy. But I think that Father Time may have caught up with him a bit. He’s a guy who plays with a big motor and wills himself into a lot of success. He has strength and quickness that have always helped him with rebounding, assists and drives to the basket. But unfortunately he has lost a little bit of his step and a little bit of his elevation, which means he struggles to even get layups. He also excels when paired with defensive specialists who can create transition opportunities, but this is something the Lakers don’t have right now. We could really use Danny Green. Westbrook now is witnessing guys like Morant and Fox who are younger versions of what he used to be and in the case of Morant, who is probably superior to what Westbrook used to be.
I would’ve loved to have seen Westbrook paired with Lebron and Davis three years ago.

And my prediction: the Kings will be next year’s version of the Grizzlies. They will be emergent next season with the Fox-Sabonis pairing.

I actually like that trade if I'm the Nets. I haven't had time to digest it, but it's probably good for Philly too. Nets won't get much out of the draft, but could get lucky. Simmons is an outstanding defender and is now on a team that has a lot of firepower and getting Curry will further stretch other teams defenses; maybe he'll open things enough on the inside that Simmons will attempt a layup or dunk. He's also a smart defender, but not particularly athletic.

It was only a matter of time before one of the Nets "big 3" was gone, while it didn't blow up as badly as I thought it would, it also never really worked particularly well. Now, they've got a "big 1.5".

EDIT: Looks like they posted it at the same time.

can't believe they gave up Curry in this trade and gave Nets a legit Center
BKLN won that trade by a mile basing that on Ben playing however
