And Reynolds is perfect for Deadpool. The script is tailor made for him.

Agreed. He is perfect for Deadpool. Dead on casting. I just don't think he was right for GL. I don't think he'll be bad really, but i'll reserve final judgement till I see it.

Often critics don't know what the **** they are talking about when it comes to geek movies.

critics can never sink a movie. TF is a good example. and i will stand by this. critics didnt make X-men more money.

i watched some tvposts. and i see that GL makes a toy car in the movie? you see this is a problem. you dont see this in SUperman and batman. GL is a fantastic franchise for WB to sell toys. respect. its their money. but you need to balance it out. you need to make a movie where you can sell toys but dont insult the inteligence of people who payed money for the ticket.

the ring can create everything that i think ? guys i have f... insane imagination. i would never think about a car or about a chainsaw. this is the problem . this is where you dont follow the comcis.

Well considering he's a human, why wouldn't he think of Earth bound constructs?

remember when i complained that Sinestro should be the main villain? and you all told me that he should be for the sequel?
then i said that you should always make the first movie like its your last movie. make the best movie you can make at that time.

so now i am reading that the villain is a stupid cloud. if this doesnt get a sequel we will know that Sinestro teh villain would be great since Strong is a good actor and nailed Sinestro.

this is what you get by holding back.

This.

STM, Batman 89, Spider-Man, X-Men, and Thor were all big screen introductions to these characters, and they used their best foe. There is a vibe that WB just expected that a sequel to GL was gonna happen, when that was a mistake. The first movie should be able to stand alone and be satisfying without watching the sequels.

It was a full-sized car. And Batman gets a new car for toys every movie.

if i would have the ring and you would tell me '' darkb throw this truck in the air''............trust me J.Howlett i wouldnt use a toy spring.

the whole energy of my chest and ring would go around the truck and throw him in the air. maybe even something else that i can not explain ( its in my head).

but hey this would not sell toys right? :oldrazz::awesome:

I dont think it's necessary to use the best villains in a first movie as long as you have a decent one, but IMO Hector Hammond doesnt really seem like compelling villains to put in a movie

Hal Jordan is known for his fearlessness, but not his creativity. Creativity is with Rayner.

thats because this movie had to be short for kids.

imagine the same movie but without the 70's porn villain and cloud-man . but insted SInestro. on Oah you spend 30 minutes building up SInestro and Hal. then you bring everythign down on earth as an Epic fight between SInestro and Hal.

the reviews are pathetic bad and the 8 clips do nothing for me. but i swear to god that i will watch GL in ....................august :down:twisted::down

yea it seems pretty obvious now but I can imagine they were pretty confident with that they had.

Ok so we have a very nice tease and introduction of the world and then we leave it all for the second act. The audience will be dying to see more but unlike the loud robot movie, we have nice slow character building depth in the middle of the film. Then once we are invested in all the characters they will clash. Hal will be known as the great lantern because even though we teased at the 3000 strong group of star trek avatar characters, Hal defends the planet by himself and saves the day. He's no longer a dick but like every other Marvel chracter ark, he's become a hero.

Honestly they thought they had something and I can't blame them. However reading your little pitch there it just seems so obvious how they could have made this the franchise to beat. And the best part is like all franchises, it will have it's fans that say it blew their minds and they can't imagine it any better.

I'm guilty of this myself:awesome:

That shot in your gift avatar would have been dope if it was against a certain other lantern that cough trained and earned his admiration.

Sometimes the gamble pays off, sometimes it doesn't.

You can't deny that "franchise building" has gotten a little out of hand. Everything is a trilogy, nowadays. It makes for some weak first installments which sometimes feel like overlong prologues. You have to wait for the sequel to see "the good stuff".

It's not to do with using certain villains...

It's about the villains that you do use, being well done. From reviews Parralax is a giant space turd who doesn't do much apart from kill a few people. And Hector Hammond is just laughable and not compelling at all, despite the actors best efforts.

Hector Hammond looks like the most uninteresting "villain" to appear in any recent comic book film. Name one that's more lame than him. Sebastian Shaw? Sabretooth? Whiplash? All cooler, even if the films weren't the greatest. And Parallax is an awesome concept for all of you, but it's kind of silly to have GL battle a huge cloud in his first film outing.

saw it... LOVED it!!! Geoff John's GL Secret Origins brought to life! ;) idk what the critics are talking about.. but it's obvious they don't know either @ least in a fan's perspective. :p

Sure, it was cheesy at times and it's not perfect.. but its very FUN! More like Spider-Man fun w/ some Iron Man flavor!

"We are The Corps!" ^_^

Phosphorus,

Yeah. You have a point. I honestly don't know how you get around that, other than making a really damn great first installment, even if you're franchise building.

I think the system is afraid of introducing these "out there" concepts to the general audience without proper set up/introduction. At the same time, you don't want to get thrown into something without the proper set up either.

I imagine Lively was added because she had an in built fanbase from a Warner Bros TV show.
