Didn't you just say he was a three dimensional character?

Now you're saying he was just supposed to be creep and weird?

No offense man, but it's pretty clear you built up the hype of this thing so much, you convinces yourself you would like it before you even saw it.

6 months down the line I guarantee you won't feel the same way.

How do I know this? Because it's happened with me before. With Wolverine Origins. When i first saw it i loved it. Then that quickly faded into meh. Then that quickly devolved into out right detesting it.
That will never happened. I actually liked HH in this. He was acted superbly by Sarsgaard and he had a Joker Pencil moment that made everyone in the theater go WOW.

The villain, however, in this wasnt him or Parallax. It was fear and ,imo, it was as over the top and repeated so many times like Batman Begins, really.

I find it funny that people has a problem with the quick training in GL but not a problem with the quick training in BB...

I don't think this movie was as bad as some reviews make it out to be. The story wasn't great. I'm not a huge Green Lantern guy so I thought Ryan was alright, I think they tried to make him a little too Tony Stark since that is what audiences like. Hector Hammond was really dumb, its a shame Saarsgard was stuck with that. I'm not going to complain about the cg, some of it was great other stuff was not so great but a movie like this you need the cg. I liked the idea of the suit and I thought it was cool along with the ring powers but the mask looked awful and didn't need to be cg. Parallax was really stupid, he looked like a gigantic piece of poo and the whole going after Earth instead of Oa was a huge huge missed opportunity. What I loved most about this movie is Sinestro and Tomar Re. Strong was fantastic and captivating as always. Rush was the perfect choice for a voice for Tomar Re, damn he was great. I really wish they had bigger parts. Probably the best thing about the movie and its kinda sad to say but its the potential a sequel has. If they're smart and make it a galactic journey with the corps instead of just Hal on Earth basically than you got yourself a great movie. Overall not terrible just not overly great but enjoyable I'd say its a 7 out of 10.

GL fans are just going to have to go through the same maelstrom that Hulk, FF, DD & GR fans all had to go through.....having the film debut of your guy suck. I can attest that it's a growth experience.

I never thought I'd like Green Hornet more than Green Lantern but here we are.

Didn't it take Wayne...like...years...in BB?

People are exaggerating way to much.

Green Lantern is a clear 7,5/8 movie. Much better than Fantastic Four, Ghost Rider, Wolverine, Thor, Superman Returns, DareDevil, etc.

Hector Hammond sucked pretty much sums up my opinion of the character. GL should have been going up against a humanoid alien character not a cloud and not Peter Sarsgard with a big head and a Porn Stache.

yeah didnt they realize that that crappy big momma fat-makeup looks laughable nowadays, people in my theater were laughing at him lol... with this whole movie being cg it wouldnt have killed them to add alittle cg to him instead of that rock hard plastic buldge on his head

althought i hate superhero fighting clouds or airplanes i gotta say i actually liked the cloud in this, and it at least had the sinestro fight too

Gotta love when people defend a movie by trashing another movie's irrelevant flaw.

Considering Nolan and Snyder both have that franchise now, and rebooting it, that might have something to do with it? :whatever:

Nah.

It faded before that.

The boards were loaded with overwhelming praise for it in 2006, but when the film only made 400 Mil worldwide, many jumped ship.

By the time of the writers strike in 2007 and Bryan dragging his heels in the talks with Warners, most were holding out for a reboot.

But unlike fan reaction, the critical reviews don't get altered over time. They still reflect how well the film was received in 2006, in a pre-TDK "meh to comicbook films" era.

Green Lantern... Warner Bros' Ghost Rider.

It's probably good though that most fans this time are accepting and realizing the fact that GL did suck.

Hopefully the overwhelmingly negative reaction to this will force Warners to re-evaluate how they handle these properties.

I don't understand the problems with Hector Hammond some have. He was actually pretty badass in a few scenes and pretty amusing as a villain. Parallax was pretty uninspired though.

Im talking about training. BTW, the training is just different because Wayne is just a normal guy. Hal had to train to use his imagination which isn't as hard. By the final battle, he was good with it.

And it was clear that Kilowog was going to train him more.

You anger is amusing. Robbins was totally wasted. I would have felt more sorry for Hammond if he didn't look like a child rapist.

Exactly I mean he even had the pedo tash for crying out loud, pshhhhhh and he thought he had a chance with Lively (by golly Hector I wonder why Hal always had her affection and you didn’t). Oh and my anger is justified, I paid good money 3d money to be precise to see this piece of crap. And all I got was some glasses that I am not even able to use outside.

Saw the movie this morning.

I'll start off by saying it isn't anywhere near as bad as I was made to believe, deserves a 40% on RT, but it isn't by any means a good movie.
There was something that felt incredibly empty about this film.

It felt as if over an hour of footage had been edited out, most of which would of been in Oa, and I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case given how much it would of cost.

All the supporting characters were complete crap, Reynolds was alright but nothing special, he certainly is no Bale, Downey jr, or even Hemsworth for that matter.

I for one loved the special effects, and the action was visually enticing.
The training segment was pathetically short, and like I said there feels like there is a missing hour of footage.

Best part of the movie today was the Captain America trailer which preceded it. :cap:

I never thought I'd like Green Hornet more than Green Lantern but here we are.

Same here. GH worked because they knew it was all crap and just played it as a straight comedy. As a comedy it mildly works.

That's what i thought too. But they were both cool. At least, GL fought somebody unlike some other hero that flies... :o

He didn't though did he? He had about 5 minutes screen time and said "poozer" a couple of times.

I mean seriously, how can you guys be happy with a Green Lantern film that spends about 20 minutes on Oa and doesn't even develop Sinestro as a character but has him turn bad in a sequel bait after credit scene?

That's not rhetorical. If you are a fan of Green Lantern how can you just accept this mediocrity? You're doing the character a disservice.

No way is GL better than Thor. I hate to be that guy to bring in the Marvel/DC feud but Thor was on par with Spider-Man 2, Batman Begins, and Iron Man----not SR, DD, and GR.

Lol flawed comparison my friend, Bruce trained round the world for years...............years before joining the league of shadows and even then he had what a few months training as opposed to Hals few minutes on Oa.

I keep seeing DD being part of films being known as"worse"comic-book movies!.....Even the Director's Cut is worse?(I feel there's a pretty da**big difference in quality for D'sC to the TC)

It was few minutes by movie time but obviously not a few minutes in Oa. Time as you know, is pretty vague in movies...

That's what i thought too. But they were both cool. At least, GL fought somebody unlike some other hero that flies... :o

Hector Hammond with porn stache and Barry Bonds sized head was much cooler than the landmass that Supes fought.

My advice is to only see a movie in 3D after you've seen and liked it in 2D.

Also, people had a problem with the quick training in GL because it was handled poorly. Although the special effects were pretty Hal should have trained more and he damn sure shouldn't have run out like a little b**ch just because Sinestro was mean to him.

I liked Green Lantern's Bale voice when he was trying to fool Blake Lively.

Ohhh poooor baby. Let's all shed a tear for SatEL... Gee, it's not like it was all over these boards you frequent that this movie sucked. Listen to the reviews next time.
