There is a user on youtube, MrSkillToKill2, who just did an unboxing of the ps4 version and said he's going to upload gameplay right away.

MY problem with the web swinging in this game are the following

1. The swing speed is too slow
2. There's a lapse between when he transitions swingin.. like he floats for just a bit and when he finally comes down there's no weight to him
3. You can swing left but suddenly you can swing right without releasing the web totally nullifying any momentum logic they said they have. in order for spidey to change the patch of his swing he should have to release and shoot out another web. This is one of the things i hated about sm3 as well. Spiderman could be swinging to his left then as he got closer to the build you could push right and he'd magically swing away from the building all in the same swing.
4. the city is not scaled correctly. It's so cramp and low that you will constantly run into things unless you're on a straight away. That's the only time the swinging looks fluid.
5. Lack of swing animations
6. When spidey shoots his lines out he shoots them up and behind himself instead of out and in front of him which would also give him a greater swing arc. This is how they make you think that his lines attach to buildings. you never actually see where the web attaches. If you were spidey you'd probably want to spot where you wanted your web to go and shoot in front of you not straight up over your head when you're already at the bottom of your arc.

Because of these things, it makes the swinging quite tedious and very useless and that's why i think you see most ppl just rely on web rush to get around for the most part. Web rush is the bane of spiderman games.

Day time gameplay. Something bugs me about it. It looks way too similar to the first game in terms of design. I don't even live or ever been to NYC but from what I've seen, it's nothing like it in any way. I just wish it was the SM3 city in terms of size and design. Even the ESB is just way too small.

That gameplay looks awful. I dunno, maybe it's the guy who was playing it and he didn't seem to have a great grasp of the controls but good lord that looked bad. The animations are stiff and highly repetitive, there doesn't seem to be any physics at all for the swinging, the city looks like it could be an exact copy of the city from ASM which is a bad thing since it hardly resembles NYC, and holy effing pop-in! I'll wait to see some more gameplay footage on this of course but this looks an awful lot like the first game with only some minor changes.

It's funny how all the clips just stay online. It's like Activision isn't even trying anymore with this game. Last time around you had to download every clip because they took them all down within minutes of being uploaded.

What is the time frame of this game as it relates to the events of ASM2? Does it take place after ASM2 or is it a direct adaptation of the movie?

It says after the prologue 2 years later, so it fits with the time of the movie. And it takes place during the events of the film.

Someone has PS4 footage being streamed on ustream right now, doesn't look much different, but I haven't seen footage of him in the city yet

Edit: The stream is now off air

oh great beenox is on the hunt

+1.

Is it me is what we see all there is too the game? I haven't seen ONE new combo or combo upgrade. I keep hoping to see something new that catches my eye and when combat starts Spidey does the same moves he always does. I keep hoping that increasing the combo meter will showcase some new maneuvers but it never happens. And tbh the upgrades are all superficial except 3 physical moves they added. Oh and lets not forget all the "web upgrades" they promised which it turns out is the seismic blast and iconic web.

link to the ustream??? i cant find it.. i'm dying to see ps4 gameplay

so far im not too impressed with the game after all the gameplay videos shown. I doubt the ps4 version will do much to change my mind. Bring on a true superhero game... arkham knight!

Sadly I feel the same way. It looks like they didn't add anything new to the gameplay other than superficial stuff and it even looks like the LOCKED previous unlocks from the first game. EX. Stickyness

I was also quite surprised at the lack of change in Spiderman from the beginning of the game to the ending. He doesn't change at all! They could have AT LEAST added more manuevers and attacks so that we don't get tired of seeing the same animations over and over. And how about that weird looking back-flip kick flip thing he does??? I mean it was cool at first and then I realized that's the only flip he does when he dodges lol.

Like for example with the previous games(not really counting Shattered) you would level up and get new combos and upgrades that made the game more fun. Spidey at the end of Web of Shadows(Black suit and regular) were off the chain with the combos and so were the special moves they could do. Beenox added NOTHING! No wonder the game is $50.00 bucks on ps3 and xbox.

They added a new coat of paint and some new villains and tbh that swing system is still pretty crappy. Remember the challenges in SM2? I was wondering if they would be in ASM1 but with the cloud swinging races would have been useless. Apparently they did the same thing with this game. The swing system has no real sense of speed and the scale of the city is bad so it makes races impossible.

Besides we can't do tricks, loops, climb up our web any way so what would be the point? LOL

When you see people using web rush more than swinging thats when you know your swinging system sucks. Total disappointment. If I see this in the used bin at a gamestop or something maybe ill pick it up.

Lol and even that doesn't look any smoother than it did the first game hahaha.

I was hoping for SOMETHING new with it and they added NOTHING new lol.

Is Gwen Stacy even in this game?

I didn't see her.

Seems exactly like what I expected: A slightly modified version of the first game. I appreciate everything they've done and as someone who considers the first game a major guilty pleasure (I think I've beaten it 3 times and just swung around for God only knows how long) I know I'll dig this. Will it be my dream game? God no. I have so many things I could say right now that bug me, but there's no point. I was expecting it. I'll definitely pick it up in a few weeks when it drops like 10 bucks (maybe more...?) and end up getting my money's worth for sure. So...yeah, I'm pleased. Plus, I'm digging the story this time. That intro was pretty badass. Big fan of that. I still want a "proper" Spidey game, though...

P.S. To the person who said give it to Sucker Punch: Keep dreaming.

I feel you. And I know Sucker Punch probably won't get it but that doesn't mean there isn't someone else better. I hope that we get a better publisher who understands what is needed for the proper Spidey game.
