I can't see what happened Josh?

Yeah Andrew, was hoping this was going to be an alternate, [BLACKOUT]"Gwen Lives" game but looks like they're just not going to mention her at all anymore which is lazy[/BLACKOUT]

Yeah... May mentioned Gwen so far two times "Could be Gwen be there (Oscorp) this late" and if i remember right "Shame that you two aren't together anymore".

They'll have to kill her sooner or later anyways (via DLC for this game or in TASM3) otherwise they can't really keep up with the relationship aspect when Felicia Hardy or MJ are properly introduced in the upcoming sequels.
I hope they go for DLC for this movie though, it would simply be lazy to not kill her in this title and I don't see them just not mentioning her anymore when a new love interest comes in.

Has there been anymore news on this game. I really want it to leak so I can see some proper gameplay. I hope there is a lot more to do in free roam because the first game was pretty boring.

I was hoping for
A comic book approach: gwen and goblin, top of bridge, she drops, you push the web button and snap her neck killing her, if you don't do it, she dies anyway different cutscene depending on choice

This game needs more web moves and they need to add back the bells and whistles to improve the combat. Lol that video Spider-man 95 posted was a little annoying. I hated how he started web swinging and then he would cut it off and start the next webline. It looks so stiff to me.

Okay so in anticipation of Amazing spiderman 2 I went back and played each spiderman game I have for about 40 min each, give or take 5 min. (only free roam games, but shattered did gave great combat in some parts)

I could rank these by story, graphics, voice actors, and more, but here is my ranking by open world web swinging, and why:

1) web of shadows: The game had a lot of problems, voice actors, brown dead city, terrible story and more. However the game did have great features: wall running and skidding using knees, fast momentum web swinging, thumbstick= direction of web. Too bad no motion blur/double jump/. you could really haul across the city and it looked great too.

2)spiderman 2: This was a CLOSE one, the game has possibly the best new York close to sm3, the web swinging was fast, blury, and intuitive. After the first 20 min I was back in the swing of things and it was great. the rest was awful, graphics, combat and voice actors. But the music and time of day changing was great.

3) Ultimate spiderman: the web slinging was slow, even with all uprgrades it still did not feel fast, the combat in random encounters is great, and this game aged better than spiderman 2 overall.

4) spiderman 3: Bassically spiderman 2, the city was bigger, more diverse, etc, but with the things missing from spiderman 2 the web swinging was not quite as good. Rest of the game was meh.

5) amazing spiderman: Webs from the sky... grr. I did like the IDEA of web rush, when they showed trailers, in game it is slow, boring ( ie it does not do cool manuvers, usually just web zip), and web rush slowed down the bad swinging.

Just my opinion. Looking forward to this game.

Edit: Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed all of them, love spidey games, this is just my personal list.

Great post. I actually liked SM2's combat system because it had a lot of variety and way more combos. I liked WOS for the story(I love symbiotes XD) and I really liked the combat upgrades. I felt like Spiderman started the game one way and ended the game another. I felt the same way about USM. The swinging was a lot slower but the web-climb up was a nice addition. I wasn't really a fan of the combat system though. I didn't think he had enough options. I liked playing as Venom though. That was interesting. I liked eating people! :woot:

I liked Shattered Dimensions more after I overlooked the flaws of the game. Now I really appreciate the combat options and I really enjoyed the level design and the different Spidermen. What would have made the game even better was if they improved the swinging even though it wasn't open world. Although I have to admit the swinging looks more like WOS and looks a little bit more convincing than the ASM and even ASM2. I also wanted Spiderman's model to be a little bigger and while I liked the combos I really wanted more controller rumble when controlling Spidey. It's weird doing a double jump and the controller doesn't register it. It's a weird feeling.

Amazing.....I liked the fact that you could feel the combos and movement in the controller. Same goes for the swinging. I thought that it FELT right but it was done wrong. Imagine using the bottom of the swing mechanic from SM2 combined with the controller rumble used in ASM1? That would be amazing. For the sequel I was hoping they would expand the combat even more but sadly they didn't. Most of the gameplay I've seen looks the same in each video.

I think the next game could potentially be really good. I am willing to give them one more chance and I hope that with the city and certain elements already established it might make it easier to develop and make necessary improvements. I would be very disappointed if they did what they did for this game. Meaning...imo not enough improvements to make it a sequel. I'd call this more of an expansion than a sequel.

You know what would make a great combat experience in a Spider-Man game?
If you see the pages in comics where Spider-Man hangs from poles, ropes, ladders, and anything in the environment he can hang to and use it to reach and enemy or trick one to strike him/her will be awesome

Something for Beenox to consider in the future, same goes with whoever takes over the torch

I don't really understand what you are suggesting. But I agree that more options is really important.

What happens is that he's too low down to form a web, yet he presses the button, and the game makes the web miraculously work, so the body hovers on the ground for a few seconds.

I need to post some pages of Spidey fighting to illustrate what I mean, and make it understandable

Something similar to this

You mean like using the environment more? I feel Spidey in these games is very ground based. He doesn't use the environment enough imo.

Yeah, he needs to use the environment more
Grounded attacks is a nice start for free flow, but Spider-Man deserves more

True that. Imo he walks around way to much. It looks like they added some weird looking sissor kick manuever that he uses to dodge but Spiderman has a lot of iconic poses so I'm surprised that didn't incorporate that into his movement. I was hoping that's where web rush was heading but it didn't.

Web of Shadows had the best combat. The web combat used in that game was just amazing.

I loved all of it. The Black suit's upgrades were freaking awesome.

The entire game was awesome. Take away the fact Drake Bell voices Spidey, and the fact the city is so dead for a current gen game, it is the best. I didn't even notice the webs didn't attach to buildings. Yet they still do a better job at it than TASM2. The momentum, the animations, the combat, the graphics. All very good. My favourite Spider-Man game, personally.

Same. It was my first ps3 game lol! I also liked how the karma choices gave you three different endings. That was really great.

Best swing kick? Check
Great wall fight system for the red suit? Check
Great web strike? Check
Great tendril attacks? Check

Great ground attacks? Not entirely

I liked the ground combos. But I wanted them to be a little more Spidery. I liked the fast punch move and the web explosion attack. Even though it wasn't realistic I enjoyed unleashing it on my opponents.

I love sticking thugs to walls

I do like the rapid web ball firing, but I wish they'd let you just shoot out a continuous line too. I think Spider-Man 3 was the last game to have that.

Hey webhead i just checked and there isn't a fight challenge, but you can train in that Machine in Stan CS.

Web of shadows had great web combat, though the ground combat was okay, loved the wall combat, if you could have wos combat and spiderman 2 webswing with asm2 momentum and SM3 new York, shattered dialogue and boss battles.... Someone needs to just get all the different game engines and make one game hahah. On a side note this looks much better than the first tasm game and I will withhold further judgment until I play it. Who knows, maybe, just maybe, beenox will nail it in the next one.

Ah. Damn.

Well at least random crimes supposedly happen infinitely. The last game, if you wanted to fight again you had to go replay a mission.
