Don't forget...

I think Affleck's square jaw is a bit more debatable, but whatever squaredness he lacks in jaw, he makes up for in SQUARE CHIN. :sly:

Fassbender as Batman would be amazing, but I don't think it will happen.

For the record, I was not intending to post pictures of Batman candidates on that previous post (Stephen Amell? LMAO), just pictures of what I define as square-jawed actors. And I even forgot the king of the square jaws:

But yes, Fassbender would be amazing, and highly unlikely.

Campea mentioned he know the actor that will replace Affleck. I gotta give the guy credit. He have been saying this since february and no one believed him.

To give him a bit of leeway here, Campea's exact statement was that a Hollywood producer told him who Reeves wants to cast as Batman, but they haven't actually gone into negotiations for it yet. Campea also mentioned that the name surprised him a bit. So yeah, whoever the actor is, that's still up in the air right now.

Right now I'm leaning towards the idea that Reeves wants Jake Gyllenhaal. Not much evidence to really support that theory, but I'm guessing it's not Armie Hammer. Hammer definitely seems to be cast for something in the DCEU though. So maybe he is Batman, or maybe he's someone else.

To be honest, I don't expect every Batman or Superman actor to have a lantern jaw. Something like this, for example, would be a little too much. lol

Ben's facial dimensions are a good fit, though, and I'll be damned if they don't almost perfectly align with that Bruce illustration I just posted. Granted, his pronounced jowls give him a puffy appearance at times, but no one's perfect.

Frankly, I feel the same way with the choice of Jon Hamm.

Affleck has similar characteristics but a bit more range than Hamm and Hammer.

Ben Affleck has more range than Jon Hamm?

No offense, but...I find that point of view baffling. Affleck has never had a performance as great as Don Draper, nor is he as effective at both humor and drama like Hamm is.

LOL, I was in no way suggesting Batman actors must have square jaws. If you look back how we got on the topic, I was merely responding Hurm's claim that people like Armie so much because he has that square-jawed look, and how I don't think he even has that.

But yes, Bale's my favorite Batman, and I wouldn't consider him square-jawed, either. I was just making an observation and continuing my bewilderment over the Armie Hammer Appeal, lol.

That said, I think a square jaw for Superman is a must. That's just...The Look for Supes. Thankfully, we've definitely got that. :D

Waldau's a really solid actor and has a good look for a superhero. WB needs to cast him in something ASAP.

I hear you.

I don't think it's so much the jaw, but that he has to have a well defined chin. Christian Bale did a good portrayal of Batman, but his sloping chin always took me out of it.

He's almost 50 so I think he's aged out of that conversation. But...

^ Hal Jordan
I would scream for joy if that happened, lol.

Yeah, because of the cowl, the chin really is more key for a good Batman look.

Affleck is excellent in The Town and Gone Girl.

His other performances are not quite as effective to that degree.

Fair enough ;)

I still don't think he should be Batman though lol

I have to agree Hamm > Affleck in terms of acting talent (I actually hated Affleck in The Town and thought he would have had a truly great movie on his hands if he had only cast someone else besides himself as the lead; he was good in Gone Girl, though). But I wouldn't really want Hamm as Batman at this point either.

Maybe he could play one of the older DC characters then.

Is King Faraday any interesting? I only know of him from DC : The New Frontier, which was a great read IMHO.

That's the curse of the cowl. Since it covers the upper part of the face, the lower half is emphasized/accentuated. Which isn't always a good thing. lol

I'd prefer Ben to stay, he just fits the role perfectly. I love Fass, but the dude is really slight and probably about 5'11". That movie he's in with Gina Cerano he looks so small next to her. I know she's an extremely fit woman, but she looks like she could crush him(which she does in that movie).

I still hold out hope that a good audience reaction and a f***-ton of money can convince him to stay.

Hamm is a great actor but I don’t want him for Batman either. I feel like there is a CBM role for him somewhere but I’m not sure which one.

The only other places I've seen him besides New Frontier was in Future's End in the New 52 and the JLU animated series. He could potentially be the DCEU's Nick Fury (as in, government spy/liason to the Justice League). In Future's End, he was an operative assigned to hunt down spies of alien and/or inter-dimensional origins hiding on Earth, which if nothing else could make him a good lead for a DCEU-set TV series, imo. Waldau would be a great pick for him either way, though. Good call.

You're not alone. Batfleck's the biggest draw for me in this nascent universe. Thing is, him staying or leaving isn't up to us.

I'm of two minds when it comes to Fassbender. On the one hand, he's a top-tier actor with incredible range. On the other, he bears very little resemblance to the character and can't affect an American accent to save his life. lol
