Assuming it's Holland's Peter. My guess is he teams up with Eddie. Something happens forcing Venom to bond with Peter. Venom eventually returns to Brock, but leaves some offspring with Peter. Peter gets the black suit for a bit, parts with it, and it then goes to MCU Mac Gargan.

Mac Gargan then becomes antagonist Venom while Eddie continues on as anti-hero Venom.

hmm this sounds pretty good. I was hoping Michael Mando would be in this movie coz he's such a dope actor but if he's not and they're saving his role for something like this then that's cool

But I don't think Peter is having the Black Suit if he ever does for very long. Prob about as long as She-Venom in Venom, only maybe with an action scene attached.

Fairness it would be funny for the second third Spider-Man to have venom . If so the movie is jam packed . Venom is my favorite villain but I would rather this film focus on the sinister six

While this might be evidence he's in the movie, I seem to remember pictures of Michael Rooker wearing an Infinity War beanie even though he wasn't in the movie. Then James Gunn later revealed the reason they gave him the beanie was because people were speculating he was gonna die in GOTG 2 and they wanted to throw people off the trail.

But who knows, maybe he's gonna be in a post-credits scene or something.

People on the MCU spoiler subreddit are 100% convinced that Venom is in the movie now because of the photo. Think a lot of folks are going to be disappointed.

Still believing that Venom will not be in this (and that it is definitely the Lizard in that one shot) and that it's a Michael Rooker situation all over again. At best, he might be in a post-credits scene or have a cameo but there's no way he'll have any substantial role in this movie.

I could see Venom being a post credits tease. The Mid-Credits likely are teasing MoM. But I highly doubt Venom is in this beyond a hypothetical post credits tease

Didn't really love the first Venom and not a fan of the direction they took the story. Narratively, after Carnage, it doesn't make sense to backtrack and give peter the suit. Venom and Spider-Man will never carry over the dynamic from the comics, especially if it's Holland's Peter. Setting it in the ASM would have allowed for a reveal that the suit was previously attached to Garflied and the suit kept things from Eddie(much like recent reveals in the Cates run). But I feel like Sony is just setting up it's own "avengers" with Venom, Spider-Man, Morbius, Silk and whoever else they can gleam. Venom and Spider-Man will fight then team up, but it'll be little more than something like Thor vs. Iron Man in Avengers.

Setting this in the TASM universe would not have changed anything. If they do desired, they could say Holland had the suit off screen. There is no reason you cannot just do that with Tom Holland and would need Andrew Garfield to be Spider-Man. There is also more than likely less financial interest in that idea. But that clearly isn't the intent here regardless of what Spider-Man they use. We saw Venom's origin already. Raimiverse, TASMverse, whatever verse it doesn't change. Anything they would add to it at this point is a reason. Regardless who is Spider-Man

I mean, it's not that you can't create a new and compelling dynamic with Hardy and Holland. It's just a question of if Marvel will do it. Do they even want that rivalry?

If they do, I can see a scenario where Brock and Peter start out as allies. Brock gets injured and Venom needs a new host. So he latches onto Spider-Man. Venom then learns about Uncle Ben and we get a sub-plot where he pushes Peter to murder Ben's killer. Of course Peter ultimately refuses and rejects Venom. Venom, hurt and humiliated, then returns to a recovering Brock. Only now he has Spider-Man's true identity and the added knowledge that Peter, early in his superhero career, was secretly tied to whatever caused Eddie to leave New York for San Fran.

I'm not trying to say this idea is all that compelling, but it hits on a lot of the familiar beats in a new way. A better writer than me could map it all out in a clever way.

Still, assuming Sony can get Garfield back, I think TASMverse is a better tonal match for this Venom. I would have Brock in that world and Gargan as the Venom in the MCU when all is said and done.

I'd rather they don't have another symbiote threat next time. We've had two films that used them as an antagonist to Venom. It's like the Iron Man films that used a villain with the Iron Suit as the antagonist in two movies until they got to Iron Man 3.
