Superhero Cinematic Civil War - Part 58

Yeah, same goes for Wolverine in the X-Men IMO. The GA knows Magneto and Wolverine well thanks to X-Men and aside from Xavier and Mystique not a lot more. Show them how good X-Men can be without Magneto and Wolverine and then you have some massive hype moments in the bank to deliver down the road (that even the GA would know are eventually coming). It's quite fun that we are at the point that certain Easter eggs don't necessarily need to be the preserve of geeks or need to be researched by the GA or explained to them by geeks. We saw how powerful that GA nostalgia (rather than just fan nostalgia) can be with the numbers for NWH and TFA.
That's why I keep sayin', we need to run it back to the Silver age, when Wolverine & the X-Men were seperate entities. Logan didn't meet the X-Men until years after they were established.

I think it would be smart of Marvel Studios to develop the X-Men brand independent from Wolverine, to let it stand on it's own, without the crutches Fox used. That way, when they DO finally bring Logan into the dynamic (which they'd have been steadily building hype for)-- it actually has weight, and significance, because audiences would already be invested in the X-Men, and their pre-existing dynamic.

Having Wolverine come in, and completely challenge that dynamic (that we've built up with these characters), would be hugely impactful. Makes Wolverine being on the team, mean something again.

If Liefeld is roasting you, you've really hit a new low :o

Extremely violent tone? :lmao: Like I said, it looks like every generic superhero movie tonally but with The Rock meanmugging "I kill people, I'm not your daddy's superhero!"
It's a level of cognitive dissonance, that makes you wonder how much damage that college football career and the chairshots in the WWE did to him.

I feel like Esposito as Charles is on the verge of becoming the new Krasinski as Reed, and I'm here for it.

Ezra Miller’s shenanigans are terrible for DC on film moving forward, but I’m not entirely sure The Rock’s ego is that far behind, in terms of the damage it can do.

In the absence of somebody with talent, energy and ability running the DC ship, we could get stuck with everything being warped around Dwayne’s narcissism to fill the void.

Talk of Black Adam being the DC Thanos?

Black Adam - an average villain at best, being pushed into the spotlight, when they can’t even get a Superman movie green lit?

I am not optimistic, my friends.

In other news, an anonymous Batgirl actor had this to say about zaslov and the situation:

‘Blonde’ Backlash Over Accent: Proof Hollywood’s Accent Stigma Lingers | IndieWire

I am very offended by what happened and feel terrible for the directors and Leslie Grace, who were all wonderful to work with, as well as all of the technicians. It was an enormous, rewarding challenge to make this movie during Covid, and during the cold weather in Glasgow.

None of these things matter to an imbecile like [Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav]. His cowardice is breathtaking. I am glad I got to participate and I wish the best for all those involved — except the suits at Warner Brothers. But they all get replaced sooner than later.

JK Simmons anyone? :funny:

Yeah, I think the whole “heroes don’t kill people but Black Adam does” is undercut by the fact that this universe started out with Superman of all people snapping someone’s neck and then followed up by Batman nonchalantly blowing people to smithereens. But… umm… Black Adam proudly admits to killing people so… BADASS. :o

Seems like I've seen a lot of hate towards Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson lately. I wonder if his popularity is starting to slide a bit?

Black Adam kills his enemies unlike all those other lame heroes :o

I think every Marvel MCU heroes kills except Spider-Man, Daredevil and possibly Ms Marvel (I didn't watch it).

Spidey and Daredevil both thought about killing/wanted to kill a villain in their show/movie as well.

Killing is less of an issue in the Marvel movies which I don't have too much of an issue with because taking every villain away in cuffs seems unlikely.

Strange explicitly refused to kill in both his movies.

Black Adam having been the villain of the first movie....sort of makes sense. Sivana in the movie kind of didn't work for me cause he accomplishes his goal in the 1st act and then is sort of aimless and generic the rest of the film. Black Adam in that role would have been a better fit

the way of life. Someone or something that is popular, or well liked will eventually be brought down to earth.
